The Storm-Calling Cup-and-Ball (嵐を呼ぶケン玉 Arashi o Yobu Kendama) is the twenty-first episode of Chouriki Sentai Ohranger.
Synopsis[]
While helping a small town test their new wooden robot, Hysterrier replaces it with a Machine Beast copy that rampages as Yuji tries to test it out.
Plot[]
Ohranger Robo and Red Puncher are exercising with Juri and Momo; however Juri complains that Ohranger Robo isn't able to keep up; Shouhei complains that the main engine hasn't stabilized yet while Yuji states the control circuits haven't returned and the multi-ring joints aren't sliding right; but Juri states the whole point is to work this out to get the mecha back to full operation as they return to their dance operations. Unfortunately, Ohranger Robo continues to shake before falling down.
At Baranoia's base, Bacchus Wrath states that Ohranger Robo is 70% recovered; but Hysteria states their moment of hope is in sight and that this is the moment where humans grow vulnerable and the Ohranger will let their guard down to be struck and destroyed.
On Earth, the Ohranger are partaking in their own dance training, which Goro complains is easier for Red Puncher than for him; but Shouhei complains he wishes they could pilot Ohranger Robo solo like OhRed and his new mecha; Yuji adding he wished he could pilot his own robot as well. Suddenly, Mikio arrives with a girl; but says to not tease him while introducing her as Tomoko, a friend from the country. Tomoko approaches the Ohranger because she wants them to control a robot her city built, surprising the other two male Ohranger.
Yuji follow the girl to the city of Yumena, a city blessed by nature filled with trees that builds various wooden products such as log houses and kendama toys. The mayor reveals that to revitalize the city, they decided to create the world's first wooden robot, which they reveal as the Kendama Robo, spearheaded by the mayor's son Yumeno and having taken seven years and 500 million yen to complete! The mayor states no one who pilots it can play kendama properly, thus they decided to look for an expert in piloting robots such as the Ohranger. Yuji states he can easily handle it as he enters into the robot, claiming it will bring his dream to fruition as e transforms and enters into the cockpit where he uses wooden levers to activate the robot, having some problem initially in trying to make the kendama work the way he wants it to as he frantically tries to figure it out but continues to crash the ball into the ground. The Yumena officials wonder if he's an Ohranger but Mikio states he's one of the younger ones as OhBlue wonders about the disaster this is becoming and offers to practice to get it right. Later, Yuji is watching several kids play with kendama as he tries to get the hang of the toy; being told to relax his shoulders to be able to perform tricks with the toy. The kids outclass Yuji as he hits himself, becoming a disaster with the whole affair.
That night, Hysteria breaks into the Kendama Robo warehouse and brings in "Bara Kendama" while a Barlo moves the real Kendama Robo out; the empress states it's exactly like the wooden robot and no one will know the difference.
The next day, the other Ohranger try to force Yuji to return to help the Ohranger Robo rehab; but OhBlue states he needs a half-day to try and work out Kendama Robo; believes that all of his kendama training will finally allow for him to make it work; while Mikio tells Goro to let him to make the town happy for accomplishing their dream. Entering into Bara Kendama, Yuji activates it as he begins to pull the levers, actually making the ball balance on the cup and becoming able to finally do tricks with it, including the Kendama Robo Special to make it bounce off the hammer and even the "Kendama OhBlue Special" where he sticks it on top of it's pointy head, making the son Yumeno excited that his seven years haven't gone to waste! The mayor decides to celebrate with the "Kendama Dance" with the kids and Ohranger while Yuji finds the robot not bad a creation. However, Goro realizes that there's something off, that the giant mecha is moving too well for a robot made of wood! Yuji claims he's just too good at this but Goro tells him to get out of there while he can. But as he takes the warning, Hysteria tells "Bara Kendama" to begin the operation, making the robot suddenly change in face and strap in OhBlue, forcing Yuji to untransform as the mecha begins to rampage through the warehouse and making everyone run for cover! Bara Kendama starts causing chaos throughout Yumena as Shouhei tries to contact Yuji, who complains he's strapped to the control chair and can't move while worrying about how Goro was right. Hysteria soon reveals herself stating the reveal of Bara Kendama as it fires lasers from it's eyes towards the other Ohranger while Hysteria laughs manically about the chaos brought about by a robot meant to revitalize a town! Mikio and Tomoko yell at Yuji to stop as he tells everyone he's not in control while Hysteria thinks the citizens say otherwise, making Goro call her a coward. The queen soon sends Barlo against the other Ohranger, throwing them away while they destroy vehicles before transforming to remove the ground threat. However, Bara Kendama's lasers continue to attack them, forcing Goro to summon Red Puncher to deal with the giant.
Hysteria tells Red Puncher that OhBlue is still their prisoner as the giant fights Bara Kendama, being beaten up while Yuji tells Goro to not worry and attack the giant to defeat it to save Red Puncher. Juri states this is the worst case scenario as Ohranger Robo remains inoperable while everyone is attacked on all ends. Shouhei realizes the real Kendama Robo is still out there, as he and the female Ohranger try to search for it to use it in this situation; making Hysteria think they fled and that Red Puncher is the only remaining threat. Eventually, the three remaining Ohranger find Kendama Robo in a quarry at Point U7-12, Shouhei telling his boss to lead Bara Kendama to it. Hysteria tells her evil robot to finish Red Puncher off as Goro leads the giant away from the city and continues to face it's continued attacks from it's ball and hammer as Yuji watches helplessly. However, another ball flies over towards it revealed to be the real Kendama Robo piloted by Shouhei, binding it down for Goro to rip Yuji's cockpit open and allow Juri and Momo to fly inside and destroy the restraints and free him. Yuji thanks Goro while Red Puncher suddenly makes easy work of Bara Kendama, beating it down with punches before finishing it with the Magna Puncher.
Later, the Ohranger congratulate the Yumena citizens for Kendama Robo while Yumeno states he needs to practice kendama so he can use the robot properly while Tomoko tells Yuji to keep working hard, even as OhBlue apologizes for his problems and learning the value of teamwork from the incident as the team head back to deal with fixing Ohranger Robo.
