A Lying Heart Under Adjustment (うそつきハート整備中 Usotsuki Hāto Seibi Chū) is the eighteenth episode of Gekiso Sentai Carranger. It is notable for Dapp's change in outfit for the remainder of the series.
Summary[]
On a company vacation to Nasu Kougen, Natsumi protects a little girl accused of lying about the appearance of an alien in the area (in actuality a Gorotsuki on research assignment)
Plot[]
At the Baribarian, Ritchihiker reviews the failure of ZZ Zeri's jacket plan but states that unlike last time, his next one is to "take clothes off", confusing the Bowzock as he reveals his latest partner: OO Oopa, Bowzock's best "hot springs expert for Earsh". As he does, the Gorotsuki is relaxing in a hot spring stating he got what he needs to finish his newest weapon: the "Nugi Nugi Beam Gun". As Zelmoda and Zonnette wonder what exactly that is, Ritchihiker reveals it will make the Carranger take their clothes off and catch cold so they are forced to stay in bed with a "summer cold" for ten days, which the instructor reveals is hard to recover from! Grotch realizes the genius that if the Carranger are stuck in bed for ten days, they can spend their time conquering Earsh, Gynamo also agreeing that the plot is brilliant as Ritchihiker gets right on it.
At the same time, the Carranger headed out with the Pegasus Company to the Rindo Lake Family Farm in Nasu Kougen; spending their time go-karting, milking cows and riding bikes and horses as well as art appreciation and art appreciation. At the same time, Dappu is attempting to keep up, walking through fields complaining the team went on a trip without him! Without warning, a little girl named Emi suddenly appears revealing that an alien has arrived at the children's farm, forcing the five Carranger to rush to help as the president holds his son Ichitaro back fearing it could be the Bowzock having left from Tokyo to here. The Carranger rush through the farm seeing a stirring bale of hay, Naoki and Minoru rushing to get whomever was in there but discovering a human within, forcing them to apologize.
Emi rushes off stating they fell for her little trick as OO Oopa rushes right by her, shocking her as she sees a real "alien"! She rushes through the farm stating she really saw an alien but an employee states they know she's a liar, but she denies it; Minoru states they can't trick them again but she claims she's telling the truth this time, that this alien was in a yukata with a bath bucket! Mr. Tenma denies what she's saying, stating that it's not good for his son Ichitaro to deal with someone like Emi as everyone heads onto a train. The girl keeps yelling she isn't lying as she rushes away, Natsumi noticing her rush off.
At the Hotel Epinaru Nasu where the Pegasus Garage arrive to stay for their trip, the Carranger partake in the hot springs, even as OO Oopa sneaks in and grabs water before leaving. Natsumi notices and asks Yoko about the strange being that came by, Pink Racer claiming she was imagining it as Natsumi claims she saw it, remembering Emi's words earlier. Leaving the hot spring, Natsumi tells Yoko she'll handle it on her own even as her female partner doesn't know if she's doing the right thing.
In the nearby wood, Emi wanders with a camera in hopes of proving there is an alien around, discovering a cabin with a strange mark similar to the one on OO Oopa's yukata. Inside, the Gorotsuki states that hot springs contain a chemical called "Nugi-Nugi-nium" that make people want to take off their clothes; he tells Ritchihiker they will take the chemical, extract it and turn it into the "Nugi-Nugi Crystal", which he tells him they need to hurry in making it. OO Oopa begins the crystallization as Emi sneaks to the window and takes pictures until the device explodes; the Gorotsuki says it broke the machine but the experiments seems successful as he reveals the Nugi-Nugi Crystal; but they hear Emi step on a branch, worrying it's a corporate spy and forcing OO Oopa to take action. Emi runs through the wood pursued by the Gorotsuki and Ritchihiker until she falls down, the duo claiming she's the corporate spy until Natsumi tackles both to the ground to save her, making her realize she was telling the truth and protect her. Seeing Natsumi, Ritchihiker states they found their test subject for the Nugi-Nugi Beam Gun, the Gorotsuki setting the crystal as Ritchihiker steals the gun stating he wants to be the one to fire it as Natsumi protects Emi from the attack. At the same time, Dappu continues through the wood as the Nugi-Nugi Beam Gun is fired, bouncing off Natsumi's Accel Changer...and hitting Dappu! Without warning, the alien strips off his clothing, shocking both OO Oopa and Ritchihiker to the point that Natsumi throws a stick to get the gun out of the instructor's hands and Emi steals the Nugi-Nugi Crystal away with the Carranger chasing them! Ritchihiker orders OO Oopa after them as Natsumi contacts the other Carranger on the Bowzock appearance, but realizes that the beam's impact disabled the Accel Changer making communication and transformation impossible! A squad of Wumpers appear with OO Oopa as he breathes fire towards them forcing Natsumi to protect Emi as they roll down a hill to escape.
The Wumpers continue to search as Natsumi protects Emi trying to hold them off. Natsumi worries if she didn't act the way she did, they could have saved Emi from this. Emi asks why Natsumi believed in her; and she reveals she was called a liar in the past as well, showing that as a girl, she fixed a TV at school, but the boys claimed she wasn't able to and she was lying about her technical achievements. Natsumi became so angry that she fought back and felt frustrated that no one would believe the truth of what she could do. She states she has empathy for Emi's feelings and wants to help her, but Emi states she actually is a liar; but Natsumi states she won't be one anymore because there actually were aliens and that she will help her help prove it under a promise that Emi never lies again, which the girl agrees to in being a wonderful woman like her.
As the Wumpers find Emi and Natsumi, Yellow Racer fights them off in a nearby creek, tossing them around as she fights them and tosses them about. Emi rushes towards her but the Wumpers fire forcing Natsumi to protect her again. OO Oopa catches up as he starts breathing fire in a populated part of Nasu Kougen, forcing Natsumi to clear the area as they continue to chase and even the park worker starts believing in Emi.
In the woods, Dappu wakes up sneezing as he realizes he's naked as he rushes away, realizing what the Bowzock did and Natsumi in danger. The alien rushes into a campsite scaring everyone as he steals a phone and contacts the Carranger with it. Natsumi and Emi are attacked again dropping the Nugi-Nugi Crystal but the other Carranger shoot to prevent him from getting it for himself. Natsumi states the girl is safe as she takes the Nugi-Nugi Crystal to prevent the Bowzock from taking it as Dappu appears, with her seeing a safety pin on a makeshift diaper the alien is wearing, stealing it making him naked again as she bends it and uses the pin to fix the mechanics within her Accel Brace, making it working again with ease as the alien states she's the greatest mechanic in the world. Transforming into Yellow Racer, she joins with the other Carranger as they confront OO Oopa and the Wumpers, fighting the mooks through the park with their abilities. Natsumi personally confront OO Oopa, taking fire blast after fire blat as she activates the ViBlade and throws it into his mouth before smashing him with a Checker Chop and then firing the Nugi-Nugi Beam Gun at him making him naked allowing her to summon the Side Knuckle and perform the Yellow Knuckle Bomber. With no choice, OO Oopa partakes in Imocho imo youkan and the Carranger summon RV Robo in response; the Gorotsuki uses his Shampoo Attack and Hot Springs Attack to attack the mecha with heat before throwing Bath Buckets attacking them until they use the Radial Shield to block and the Yellow Radial Spinning Kick to stun him long enough to be hit by the RV Sword's Gekiso Cut.
Later, the Nasu Kougen worker states he'll never call Emi a liar again as they decide to have a great time at the park together, pleasing Natsumi as everyone rushes to have fun on their time off. Natsumi states that even with the aliens, their trip became more fun as Dappu, now in a new outfit, rushes around complaining he wants to have fun too!
