This article is about a/an two-part episode in Power Rangers S.P.D. |
Endings is the two-part season finale and the thirty-seventh & thirty-eighth episodes of Power Rangers S.P.D..
Synopsis[]
Part 1[]
The B-Squad S.P.D. Rangers face the evil and far more experienced A-Squad S.P.D. Rangers. To make things even worse, Broodwing, his three Generals, and an army of Krybots swarm the Delta Base, taking over! Meanwhile, now captive of Emperor Gruumm, Anubis Cruger encounters a familiar face from his past.
Part 2[]
Captured by Emperor Gruumm, the Rangers get unexpected help from the person responsible for their imprisonment. Doggie faces Gruumm in a final showdown for the life of Isinia. Omni's Magnificence is finally created and attacks Newtech City. Kat, Boom, Sam, and the rest of the non-Ranger S.P.D. cadets are all that stands in the way against a Krybot invasion of the Delta Base.
Plot[]
Part 1[]
With the A-Squad Rangers betraying S.P.D. for Emperor Gruumm, they take Cruger prisoner and bring him to Gruumm onboard his ship. Gruumm asks Cruger how it felt to be betrayed by his own Rangers. Cruger denounces the A-Squad as he knows a real Power Ranger must be true of heart, disappointingly commenting that they learned nothing from their years of training. However, Charlie shrugs off Cruger's comment and states that they wanted to be on the winning side, aka the Troobian Empire, as Gruumm promised them to rule the Earth alongside him. Cruger says that the B-Squad will protect it from Gruumm's wrath, but Charlie and the A-Squad arrogantly dismiss them. Gruumm warns the A-Squad not to underestimate the B-Squad as they have been a constant annoyance to him, but Charlie argues that they never faced off against the best of S.P.D. Gruumm allows them to take on the B-Squad.
Back on Earth, the B-Squad are still in a sour mood over Cruger apparently shoving them aside for the A-Squad as Jack calls Ally about cancelling a meet-up to help her donate clothes. Ally is not happy about this and tells Jack that he needs to make up his mind about what he really wants. The alarm goes off, and the B-Squad head to the Command Room. Kat tells the team that the A-Squad has turned against S.P.D. and took Cruger hostage, just as Charlie contacts the team. Charlie challenges the B-Squad Rangers to a fight and sends them coordinates to where the A-Squad would be waiting for them. Despite knowing it would be a trap, the B-Squad decides to go and deal with the A-Squad. Before leaving, Kat tells the B-Squad that Cruger deemed them the best team he ever had, putting all doubts aside for now.
The B-Squad confronts the A-Squad at the meet-up area, and both teams morph. However, the A-Squad get the upper hand over the B-Squad due to their superior al training and firepower, knocking the Rangers around. Seeing this from the Command Room, Boom asks Kat if there is anything they could do. Kat said they cannot, as the A-Squad is in a different league than any S.P.D. personnel they have. As the night falls, Broodwing arrives at the Delta Command Base, planning to take advantage of the B-Squad and Cruger's absence by taking over the Base. He uses a drill tank to breach the outside and sends out an army of Krybots and generals to attack the Base. Sam leads the cadets to fight off the invading army while Kat and Boom close off the Command Room so nobody enters. As Broodwing and his generals head for the Command Room, Sam and the Cadets get overwhelmed by the former's army.
Meanwhile, Emperor Gruumm kneels before Omni, declaring that he wants to end Cruger and conclude their rivalry. However, Omni says he does not care about Gruumm's obsession with Cruger and tells the latter that all that is important is finishing the Magnificence. Still, Omni tells Gruumm that he can take down Cruger once that is done.
Back on Earth, the A-Squad takes out the B-Squad and leaves them on the ground, helmetless. Charlie taunts the team for thinking they had a chance to take them on, reminding them that they were only the B-Squad of S.P.D. Jack quizzically asks what that meant, and each of the A-Squad Rangers defines what that meant: to them, the B-Squad were nothing but second best, second rate, and second choice of S.P.D. Undaunted by that, Jack and the rest of the B-Squad rise to their feet and activate S.W.A.T. Mode. With the power up, the fight resumes, and the B-Squad handles the fight better than earlier. Using their Delta Enforcers and other weapons at their disposal, the B-Squad manages to take out the A-Squad one by one.
Refusing to lose against the B-Squad Rangers, Charlie summons a Megazord that Gruumm provided them earlier, vowing to take care of Broodwing once they take down the B-Squad. Jack calls Kat for the Delta Runners, but the Command Room is breached by Broodwing's generals. Kat quickly launches the Delta Runners as Sam goes for his Omegamax Cycle before the generals capture her and Boom as Broodwing enters. With the Delta Squad Megazord and the Omegamax Megazord, the Rangers confront the A-Squad's Megazord, only to be overwhelmed by its immense power. Broodwing takes over the Command Room and transforms the Base into the Delta Command Crawler, using it to fire at the Rangers. Then, Broodwing activates the Delta Command Megazord, planning to use it to destroy the Earth, starting with New Tech City. While the A-Squad holds off the Megazords, Broodwing takes the Delta Command Megazord to enact his destruction. Then, the A-Squad use their Megazord to disable the Omegamax Megazord and destroy the Delta Squad Megazord.
Back on Gruumm's ship, Cruger tells the former that he will never get away with taking over the Earth. Gruumm is not intimidated by Cruger's resistance as he did the same to Sirius years ago, recalling that the latter sliced off his right horn during the invasion. Gruumm told Cruger that because he took something precious of his years ago, he decided to do the same to Cruger. He has two Orange-Headed Krybots bring Isinia to Cruger, who is revealed to be alive and Gruumm's Prisoner this whole time.
Back on Earth, morning arises as Broodwing uses the Delta Command Megazord to enact his rampage. The Rangers climb out of the wreckage of the Delta Squad Megazord, disheartened that they have nothing to fight against the Delta Command Megazord. Although Jack states that the S.W.A.T. Flyers are still inside the Base, Bridge doubts that. Using his handstand thinking, Bridge deduces that Kat could have sent the S.W.A.T. Flyers to the secret underground Zord Bay in case the Delta Command Base was invaded, something the other Rangers did not know about. Thankfully, Bridge's theory proved correct as they see the S.W.A.T. Flyers waiting for them. They take the S.W.A.T. Megazord out and confront Broodwing and the A-Squad, using their Megazord's blasters to destroy the evil Megazord. On the ground, the B-Squad arrests the traitorous A-Squad and puts them in confinement cards.
Jack tells Sam to pilot the S.W.A.T. Megazord to distract Broodwing while he and the others use the Omegamax Cycle to land on the Delta Command Megazord. The B-Squad manages to storm the Base and fight off the Krybots, though Broodwing's generals soon arrive to confront them. Meanwhile, Boom and Kat are trapped in a makeshift cell in the Command Room, but the former calls on R.I.C. to save them. Once freed, Kat cuts off power from the mainframe, disabling the Delta Command Megazord. Jack goes after Broodwing as the other Rangers take on the generals. As the Delta Command Base returns to its base mode, Jack confronts Broodwing in the Command Room, the latter retreating outside as his generals are thrown out. Broodwing refuses to surrender and has his generals attack the Rangers while he and Jack fight. One by one, the Rangers defeat the generals and confine them into cards, while Jack weakens Broodwing with his Delta Blasters. With Broodwing cornered, Jack uses his Delta Morpher to judge the weapons dealer guilty and summons R.I.C. for the Canine Cannon. With it, they arrest Broodwing and put him into confinement.
With Broodwing arrested, the Rangers demorph, knowing that Gruumm still has Cruger as his prisoner. Suddenly, Piggy comes by and tells them he knows where Cruger is. He leads the B-Squad to a junkyard, only for it to be a trap. Gruumm captures the Rangers in energy binds and has the Krybots confiscate their Delta Morphers, Z expressing anger that Piggy betrayed them. The B-Squad are taken to the same cell Cruger is in. Cruger yells to Gruumm that this isn't the end. Gruumm responds that he is right for once, ominously stating that the worse is yet to come.
Part 2[]
Jack tries to use his intangibility to escape from the cell, but the forcefield neutralizes his abilities. Cruger wants to talk to Jack about the possibility of leaving S.P.D., having realized from talking with Kat earlier that the latter wants his own life. Jack tries to deny his desire to leave as he loves working for S.P.D., Cruger acknowledges that he may love S..P.D., but knows where the former's heart truly lies. Z is angry that Piggy betrayed them, and a furious Sky believes that the latter is laughing at their misery as they speak. However, Piggy is despondent that he betrayed the Rangers, even though Emperor Gruumm would have vaporized him had he not, and asks the skies above him if he did the right thing. In turn, lightning strikes his café truck, rolling down the hill before blowing up.
With the B-Squad and Cruger captured by Emperor Gruumm, Kat rallies all the S.P.D. cadets and Sam to the Command Room, saying they are the only ones left to defend Earth. However, the cadets are not confident that they will survive the battle, especially after Kat says their chances are slim, leaving the room when given the option. However, Boom stops them and gives them a rousing speech that, despite the impossible odds, he will stay to fight for Cruger and the B-Squad. This inspires the cadets to stay and fight against Gruumm.
As Gruumm's ship nears Earth with the intent of destroying it, an Orange-Head Krybot and several Kybots confront the Rangers in their cells. Under orders from Omni, they are here to destroy the Rangers. Right before they shoot at them, one Krybot shoots at the rest and disables them. It turns out to be Piggy in disguise, wanting to redeem himself for betraying them despite their hate for him and even willing to be in a confinement card for the rest of his life. However, the Rangers forgive Piggy and they go out to stop Gruumm. A squad of Krybots surrounds the team, and they fight them off without their powers. Once all the Krybots are taken down, Cruger tells the B-Squad to return to Earth as Piggy gives them back their Morphers, having found them off-screen.
Once the Rangers get in contact with Kat, she readies the S.W.A.T. Fliers to pick them up. Cruger says he will stay behind and take down Gruumm himself, sending the B-Squad and Piggy back to Earth to help the others. On his way to Gruumm, Mora stops Cruger and uses her drawings to attack the Commander. In turn, Cruger morphs and destroys each monster with ease. Eventually, Mora runs out of paper in her sketchbook, and Cruger places her in a confinement card.
Kat and company set up a defense line for the impending fight. An army of Krybots attacks the cadets, and they do their best in fighting against them. However, they are soon outnumbered as R.I.C. gets knocked aside, and Sam gets overwhelmed. Fortunately, a time portal opens, revealing another Ranger, the Nova Ranger. Sam is happy to see her as they were teammates before he left, and Nova uses her Nova Morpher to push back the Krybots. Then, Supreme Commander Birdie and Sergeant Silverback arrive with other higher-ups, joining in the fight and giving them a better chance against the Krybots.
Meanwhile, Cruger makes his way to Gruumm's throne room and confronts the Emperor for Isinia. The two fight, both evenly matched, until Cruger is knocked down. Gruumm warns Cruger that the Magnificence is heading towards Earth, but the latter is confident that the B-Squad will prevail. Gruumm blasts at Cruger and throws Isinia over the railings, threatening to drop her if Cruger walks any closer.
The Magnificence lands on Earth as Omni says he will make it his own. As Gruumm taunts Cruger for failing to protect Isinia back on Sirius, he drops her down to the pits below. However, Cruger leaps over Gruumm, grabs Isinia, grabs Gruumm, throws Isinia over the railings, and drags Gruumm down. As Isinia holds onto Cruger, Gruumm lets go as he refuses to be brought in. Once Isinia drags Cruger over the railing, the couple takes a moment to hug for the first time in years.
Outside, the B-Squad uses the S.W.A.T. Megazord to confront the Magnificence as Cruger contacts Kat. The Rangers are barely holding their own against the Magnificence. Cruger uploads the schematics to the Delta Command Base so Kat can find a weak point to Omni, and she finds a movable panel underneath his left arm. With Gruumm having locked the controls earlier, Cruger and Isinia (who chose to stay with Doggie instead of saving herself) open the panel manual together, and the Rangers move into position. Cruger opens the panel, knowing well that he and Isinia may not survive Omni's destruction, and the Rangers fire into the opening. The blast hits the core, and Omni explodes.
The B-Squad stare into the wreckage of Omni, saddened that Cruger sacrificed his life to save the Earth. However, Jack notices Cruger and Isinia walking out of the wreckage, having survived the blast at the last minute. Everyone is happy to see Cruger alive, but celebrations are cut short when Gruumm, having survived the explosion as well, comes out to settle the score with Cruger. Cruger agrees to end their rivalry and the two fight. With S.P.D. and Piggy watching on, Cruger brings Gruumm to his knees and slices off the other horn. Once Cruger confines Gruumm, he declares that justice has been served, and the everyone celebrates the fall of the Troobian Empire.
Sometime later, Cruger gathers the B-Squad, Sam, and Nova to the Command Room for an important announcement. Jack has decided to retire from S.P.D., which upsets some of the Rangers as he did not say goodbye, but Z is not suprised by this. Cruger offers the B-Squad a promotion to A-Squad for their bravery in the face of impossible odds, but they politely reject the offer. As Bridge explains, they are the B-Squad and would like to keep it that way. Cruger respects that decision, deciding to get rid of the A-Squad Rank, but says they still need a Red Ranger and a leader now that Jack is gone. He calls Sky up and asks him the same question before they became Rangers: would he be okay with having Syd as the Red Ranger? Having grown throughout the year, Sky tells Cruger that he would be okay with following anyone the latter decides to make a Red Ranger. This pleases Cruger, and he officially promotes Sky to the Red Ranger. Cruger also tells Sky that his father would be very proud of him. Afterwards, a time portal opens as Sam and Nova see it's time for them to return to 2040. Z hugs Sam goodbye, promising to see him again in twenty years as the latter and Nova leave.
Days later, the B-Squad meets with Jack and Ally for a visit, along with Sky and Bridge donating some old clothes as the latter was promoted to the Blue Ranger in between that time. Sky tells Jack that he will still be their friend no matter where he is now, and it's revealed that Piggy has gone into business with Jack and Ally. Suddenly, a call goes out for the Rangers, and Jack gives Sky the go-ahead to lead the Rangers. Sky leads the Rangers to their next assignment, morphing in the process.

Errors[]
Part I[]
- When the Delta Sword was broken by the A-Squad's Megazord, the broken blade flew up into the air. However, the enemy Megazord could clearly be seen breaking the sword with a downwards strike instead of an upwards strike. The blade should have fallen to the ground, not thrown up into the air.
- In Dekaranger, Dekaranger Robo's Judgement Sword was broken on the second hit by the Heavy Industrial Machine Abtrex, not the first.
- The shot of the A-Squad's Megazord being blasted by the S.W.A.T. Megazord was clearly that of it being struck by the Omegamax Megazord's Spinout finisher.
- It is unknown how Broodwing and his associates were able to control the Delta Command Megazord, as it is shown that the Delta Command Megazord needs the Delta Morphers for its powers to be at max.
- A-Squad Red only appeared helmetless after the A-Squad Megazord is destroyed, yet the others were completely de-morphed. In addition after and the other A-Squad Rangers are confined, she now completely de-morphed.
- In the same scene after being confined the A-Squad are both closer together, and switch places.
- In Part 1, Nick Kemplen was credited as the voice of both A-Squad Blue Ranger and A-Squad Green Ranger even though A-Squad Blue Ranger was completely silent.
- Also, Kemplen's last name was misspelled as "Kemplin".
- When S.P.D. and Z shoot Lazor, the monster's antenna have been inexplicably sliced off due to the cut footage mentioned above.
- Despite the fact A-Squad's Megazord was seemingly supplied by Gruumm, the cockpit contained S.P.D. signage.
Part II[]
- In the scene immediately after Sky smiles down on the Red Ranger's Morpher, his hands are behind him during the portal opening scene.
- Nova claims to have been looking all over the timeline for Sam, yet in Messenger Part 1, it is revealed that S.P.D. sent him to the past, there for, she should know where he is, though this could be a timeline change since he sent back in time where S.P.D. had fallen.
Notes[]
- Broodwing's defeat was originally the final battle of Dekaranger but was changed for S.P.D. to have a grander scale to the finale.
- Besides Fowler Birdy and Sergeant Silverback, the other reinforcements that came with them included a lion-like alien (which was previously used for Gyoku Rou), an octopus-headed alien (which was previously used for Porupo), an unnamed red ape-like alien (which was previously used for Tortorian Buntar), and an unnamed exotic bird-like alien (which was previously used for Supreme Commander Horusian Numa-O).
- Part 2 marks the only appearance of the Nova Ranger.
- This was the only time that Sam's unmorphed form was seen. The actor who played him unmorphed is Kevin Dufty, who was the hair and makeup artist at the time.[3]
- Part 1 was the only episode where S.P.D. Rangers were seen helmetless outside of the morphing sequence.
- In Part 2, before Cruger contained her, Mora summoned six unnamed monsters that were originally too violent, controversial, or didn't have enough usable footage to be used in Power Rangers.
- Aladonian Gyanjava (the Cricket Monster's counterpart) spent too much time around a small Japanese girl.
- Sukekolian Mashu (the Jackal Monster's counterpart) spent most of his time posing as a Japanese man named Hironobu.
- Bandarean Jeeva (the Demon Monster's counterpart) participated in illegal fights and took steroids to make him stronger. He was also not destroyed in Dekaranger but instead redeemed.
- Wuandelian Nyiwuandez (the Jail Bird Monster's counterpart) spends most of his time with unmorphed Marika Reimon (Z's Dekaranger counterpart).
- Pyrian Kurachek (the Heater Monster's counterpart) spent all of his footage burning people and buildings down as well as the fact that he tried to burn the Dekarangers alive in the S.W.A.T. Megazord's counterpart.
- Finally, Kulernian Jellyfis (the Tentacle Monster's counterpart) has the ability to possess humans and at one time possessed Jack and Sam's unmorphed counterparts.
- Several actors would return in new roles in future Power Rangers seasons:
- John Tui and Antonia Prebble as Daggeron/Solaris Knight and Clare respectively in Power Rangers Mystic Force.
- Michelle Langstone/Kat as Master Guin in Power Rangers Jungle Fury.
- Rene Naufahu/Emperor Gruumm as Mentor Ji in Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Super Samurai.
- Endings, Part Two was the series finale of Power Rangers S.P.D but "Wormhole", the second team-up between the S.P.D. Rangers and the Dino Rangers, was technically the last episode aired in the US as it was broadcast February 2nd, 2006. Wormhole was first officially released as an exclusive DVD episode on S.P.D. Volumes 4 & 5 and aired in Canada on July 30, 2005, before the United States' broadcast. [Netflix] lists Wormhole as the last episode.
- Bridge would later return in "Once a Ranger".
- This marks the final unmorphed appearances of Jack, Syd, Sky and Z, they would later appear morphed in the Legendary Battle.
- S.P.D. was notable for not featuring the entire core Ranger team battle the main villain in its season series finale. This would not happen again until Power Rangers Beast Morphers fifteen years later where Steel was not present for the final battle because he was dead by that point.
- Kat tells the B-Squad Rangers that Cruger once told her they were the best Rangers he's ever had, which he did back in Messenger Part 1.
