Emperor Yodon (ヨドン皇帝, Yodon Kōtei) was the mysterious ruler of the Dark Empire Yodonheim and the main antagonist of Mashin Sentai Kiramager.

Character History

Origins

Yodon was an incarnation of snakes born from the sea of corruption. When he was hit by some purple lightning and seemingly received divine inspiration, he forged himself a mask that embodies omnipotent powers - The very first Jamen. Donning the Jamen, Yodon was able to defeat and devour countless enemies, becoming gigantic and powerful in the process. As his size grows, his brain also birthed two extra personalities: Shadon and Yodonna, who symbolized the companionship that he used to abhor yet subconsciously yearned for. Overtime, he built for himself an Empire that conquered many worlds, with Crystalia and Earth as his next targets. At some point, he learned of two Crystalian princes whose powerful Kiramental potentials posed a great threat to his ambition. So he secretly approached the younger prince and brainwashed him, filling his heart with hatred and corrupting his mind. TV STORY-Episode 43: Dirty Hero

When Yodonna was beaten by KiramaiBlue and KiramaiYellow, Emperor Yodon telepathically ordered Galza to go retrieve her in Smog Jouki. Juru Atsuta heard his voice as well and later drew a sketch of the figure he had seen. TV STORY-Episode 34: Blue and Yellow Passion

After the Kiramagers' battle and Oradin's declaration that Earth wouldn't fall into the hands of Yodonheim, TV STORY-Episode 36: RAP Emperor Yodon starts making a move. He orders Yodonna to seek Oradin. After she successfully lures him out, the Emperor manifests himself from her body and declares that he will personally subjugate Earth. He then showed his terrific might by swinging his tendril, destroying a large part of the city, much to the Kiramagers' horror. Saying that Earth has not been defiled enough for him to occupy it yet, Emperor Yodon warned that his advent is near before reverting back into Yodonna. TV STORY-Episode 37: Sena 1/5

At the Realm of Darkness, Yodonna takes orders from him that all Kiramagers must be destroyed at once before later transforming into Yodon, who orders Galza to bring Shadon to Earth before assuming his form with the red Jamen.

After Shadon was destroyed by the Kiramagers, Yodon reverted back to his main form. As the red Jamen was destroyed, he declared revenge on them before leaving to his realm. TV STORY-Episode 39: The Emperor is a Sniper

Once Carantula finished stating his desire to create, Yodon manifested from Yodonna and told Carantula that he has outlived his usefulness before stunning him with dark energy and sending him plummeting into the water. TV STORY-Episode 41: I Want to Be As I Am

Emperor Yodon's First Death

Deciding to take the fight to the Kiramagers personally, Yodon decided to absorb Galza and become all powerful. He let Galza temporarily take control of him to lay a beatdown on the Go Kiramagers but took back control and reemerged in the city to finally make the world a rotting wasteland. However, Carantula betrayed Yodon by chucking a massive bomb at the emperor before he could destroy the city, causing massive damage to him and paralyzing him. Galza revealed that he had always intended to usurp and betray Yodon, knocking Yodonna unconscious before using his sword to strike him down with a gigantic energy slash. He stepped aside as Yodon stumbled forward before melting into brown sludge and exploding, killing him for now. With the Emperor apparently gone, Galza absorbed his powers to obtain a powerful golden form known as Lord Galza and assumed control of the Yodonheim Empire. TV STORY-Episode 42: Battle Without Honor

As Lord Galza began to repent for his sins, Galza was forced back into his own mind as Emperor Yodon revived himself to the Crystalian's horror and ejected him from his consciousness, revealing that he corrupted Galza to further his invasion but his newly restored memories and redemption meant that he was no longer useful and in fact a liability. He then revealed that he had used his evil powers to make Galza jealous and detest his brother's power which eventually led to the invasion and destruction of Crystalia and eventually the events of the whole series. Shattered that he had been living under essentially a giant lie, Galza ripped off his helmet in anger and depression but got encouraged by Juru to start anew. Seeking to atone for his past, he prepared a final strike on Emperor Yodon. However, it was in vain since Yodon deflected it and sent him to the ground before mortally wounding him with a massive lightning attack. As Juru watched on mortified, Galza said nothing as he fell to his knees before collapsing on his face where he died in a horrific explosion right in front of Juru. The Emperor then blasted Juru right off a cliff with his lightning vision. The others were too late to save their friend and forced to flee back to Earth where Emperor Yodon couldn't follow, but he was not concerned since the Earth belonged to him either way. Around an hour after killing Galza, Emperor Yodon let Yodonna take control of his body and sent her to steal the last few Kanaema Stones and destroy the Kiramagers when they interfered. With it, Yodon would be able to wish that the whole universe was a part of Yodonheim and he would rule over everything. Meanwhile, the Kiramagers came up with the plan to use the power of the Kanaema Stones to destroy Emperor Yodon forever only to get a massive Yodon energy signature in Sector S-25 where Emperor Yodon had zombified two people and demolished a building with his tentacle. Sena and Sayo appeared in King Express and Grateful Phoenix so he demanded the Kanaema Stones but they refused and went on with the attack. Yodon slashed it but it grabbed his tendril arm and he took a massive blast from Grateful Pheonix which held him back. Sayo then added her Kanaema Stone’s energy to the energy attack in an attempt to seal him away for good, but he easily broke free. Luckily, Tametomo used Reversia’s power to regress him back ten days before, turning him back into Yodonna. In that form, Yodon was incredibly weak which allowed Grateful Pheonix to seal Yodonna in a massive block of stone Han Solo style. Shiguru then jumped down and went to finish her off with Destoria but Yodon, realizing Yodonna was the only one actually sealed away, brutally murdered her. She revealed that she fell in love with him but he brushed her off as needy and pathetic though he acknowledged her unwilling sacrifice. As Yodonna dissolved into purple energy, Yodon was left with just his true mask remaining and grow giant again. Enraged, Yodon just laughed at their attempt and laid a devastating beatdown to both Grateful Phoenix and King Express with his tentacle arm. Luckily for the Kiramagers, Sena activated a Lorenzini Search and found that the only way to defeat him was to destroy Yodon’s real face, which was hidden underneath his nigh-indestructible mask. Unfortunately, it is revealed that there was nothing in the universe capable of breaking it and Yodon devastatingly ripped apart the two Giant Robos, ejecting the Kiramagers and sending the Mashin all across the city.

Just as he prepared to destroy the four once and for all, Takamichi appeared as GigantDriller and overwhelmed Yodon with a surprise attack with him even being able to rip off Yodon’s tentacle arm with its Wonder Drill Break. However, Yodon slapped it back and regrew his tentacle arm before turning it into an energy whip that nearly tore the formation apart. Luckily, the remaining Mashins (who had been staying out of the battle since Mashin Fire was bemoaning his partner’s apparent death) arrived and formed Kiramaizin in the nick of time. They overwhelmed Yodon with the Jetter sword and delivered a double energy kick to his mask as GigantDriller returned to help but Yodon summoned his Yodon destroyer which crippled both formations. With his enemies helpless, Emperor Yodon generated an even bigger Yodon Destroyer to obliterate the entire Earth only to be stabbed by some strange white energy through a portal that collapsed the Yodon Destroyer directly on top of him. The attacker then revealed itself to be Smog Jouki piloted by Juru who had been saved from his fatal fall by Galza who had transferred his soul into the Mecha before his body’s death. Much to everyone’s surprise, Emperor Yodon soon started to revive himself even after a doomsday attack was dropped onto him so the Kiramagers transformed for the final battle against the Dark Empire Yodonheim. TV STORY- Episode 44: My Friend, Sleep Quietly

As the Kiramagers and Carantula (who had defected) prepared for the final battle, Yodonna reappeared in Emperor Yodon’s mind and demanded to know about his feelings towards her. She was shocked to learn that he considered her his only weakness since he was born from pure evil and should have been unbeatable and gained his giant form by consuming Bechats into himself. After that, he realized his weakness to light so his mind created Shadon and Yodonna as bodies but grew to think of them as something resembling friends and thus they were the least powerful versions of himself. She crawled over to him and begged him to succeed before dissolving into energy one last time, which caused her mask to be destroyed in the process. Emperor Yodon, free of his “impurities” started releasing smog which corrupted the atmosphere to better suit him just as Smog Jouki appeared and ripped into him although he then blasted it off. GigantDriller and Kiramaizin showed up with the Kiramagers apparently having a plan which amounted to “overload the Yodon Mask with so much energy that it would implode.” Kiramaizin fired its Mach Beam at full power and punched it with Mashin Shovellow which seemed to surprise Yodon that they found his weakness but was unaffected and kicked it away anyway. Mashin Helico held him at bay with a tornado whilst Mashin Jetter performed the Kiramai Dynamic but two slashes had no effect and Emperor Yodon caught the Jetter Sword, on the third. This proved to be a ruse for GigantDriller to jump in and drill him in the mask with its Driller Knuckle which managed to finally knock down Emperor Yodon but it still didn’t as much as scratch the mask. Yodon then unleashed another Yodon Destroyer which seemingly killed the Kiramagers and their Mashin, leaving him the undisputed master of Earth.

Emperor Yodon's Final Death

Yodon was delighted and removed his mask to reveal his true face so that he could devour them and become all-powerful but it was a trap so that GigantDriller could blast away his indestructible mask. It then turned out that the Kiramagers he saw lying dead had been illusions created by Illusia at the same time that the Driller Knuckle hit so he wouldn’t notice the slight change in dimensions. As the Emperor was bemused by this development, GigantDriller came in and struck him directly in the face with the Gigant Crash which he survived but was forced to become human sized. Yodon was shocked that they were able to do that just to be confronted by Princess Mabushina and then the Kiramagers. The Kiramagers appeared and did their roll call before doing battle with the Yodonheim Emperor and struck them all down before summoning special Guard Bechats. Although Mabushina became concerned when they started to lose, the Kiramei Stones arrived and reassured her due to the team’s past successes and they quickly destroyed the Bechats using teamwork and some reminders from her. Sena tried to nail him in the face with Destoria but he grabbed her mid-jump and tossed her down which sent Destoria flying. Unfortunately for Yodon, this was part of the plan since Tametomo used his Kiramai Shot to bounce the falling stone up and Juru fired the Kiraful Go Arrow through it, creating a Sparkling Phoenix Destoria Special finisher that hit Emperor Yodon's head and prevented him from regenerating due to the Kiramai Stone’s raw destructive power. All Yodon could do was express immense shock at his death before faceplanting and exploding.

Months later, Dark Empire Yodonheim still existed but Carantula and the last few Bechats had turned good, meaning that the Dark Empire Yodonheim has been removed as a threat to Earth once and for all. TV STORY-Episode FINAL: You Guys Shined

Personality

Emperor Yodon was a brutal and sadistic villain intent on dominating the Earth to make it his home and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. However, Yodon expected complete obedience from those he has absorbed into himself which ultimately became his apparent undoing since this allowed Galza to gain his trust and get inside his consciousness to slay him. As revealed much later however, he is far more cunning and was merely using Galza as a means to an end to further his invasion plans without having to get his hands dirty. He values only himself and has no sense of loyalty towards those who serve him, even if they were one of his personalities, as he mercilessly struck down Yodonna in order to free himself, telling her that she should be happy to die for his sake. However in his other personalities' case, there was a deeper meaning. Yodon believes things like friendship and bonds with others are weaknesses and that his perfection is in being a solitary, all-powerful warrior. However he realized that the reason he manifested Yodonna and Shadon was because he had grown to desire companionship. Therefore despite using them as servants and the means to travel to worlds too pure for him to exist in, Yodon hated them because he viewed them as his weaknesses personified.

Powers and Abilities

• Power: Being the ruler of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, Emperor Yodon possessed limitless physical and mental abilities that far exceed that of his subordinates.
• Strength: A single swing from one of Emperor Yodon’s tentacles obliterated a building with a single hit and he and go toe-to-toe with the Kiramagers' mecha and even surpass them, being able to overpower them with the swing of his tentacle arm. After Yodonna’s death, single tail swings overwhelmed King Express and Grateful Pheonix with the latter being sent flying by a third. He was also strong enough to stop the Kiramai Dynamic’s third slash with his bare hand.
• Nigh-Invulnerability: Thanks to his primary mask, Yodon was immune to almost every attack that was thrown at him. Multiple punches from King Express Zabyun were utterly useless against his heavily armored chest and a massive energy beam from Grateful Pheonix just held him back. Even his ginormous Yodon Destroyer, the same one that could have destroyed Earth, failed to do so much as wind him.
  • Durability: Even without his mask, Emperor Yodon was shot in the face by GigantDriller but was only knocked back and he survived the Gigant Crash although he was forced to shrink to human size in the process.
• Master Combatant: Even without his mask and human size, Emperor Yodon manhandled all six Kiramagers and defeated them with ease.
• Telepathy: Emperor Yodon had the ability to speak mentally with his subordinates.
• Energy Waves: Emperor Yodon can generate purple energy waves from around himself to break free of Grateful Phoenix’s sealing beam.
• Biological Assimilation/Dissimilation: Emperor Yodon could absorb or expel a person from his own body.
  • Multiple Personalities: Using his three masks, Emperor Yodon could switch places with one of his assimilated subordinates at will.
  • Forceful Takeover: Emperor Yodon could also force control away from his assimilated subordinates at will.
• Pocket Dimension: Emperor Yodon's mind could act as a pocket dimension, allowing him to switch personas with Yodonna, Shadon, and before his first death, Galza.
  • Communication: Yodon could freely communicate with any of his assimilated subordinates, mostly Yodonna or Shadon.
• Teleportation: Yodon could teleport from one place to another at will.
• Power Enhancement: Yodon could enhance any of his subordinates' powers at will as he did to Galza.
• Size Alteration: Yodon could alter his size between big and small although he mostly did this when changing into his true form.
• Umbrakinesis: Emperor Yodon could manipulate darkness at will.
  • Shadow Mimicry: Yodon had the ability to transform his physical form into darkness to avoid attacks.
  • Shadow Absorption: Much like Galza, Emperor Yodon could absorb shadow/darkness to power himself up.
  • Darkness Wave: In a flashback, shortly after forging his mask, Emperor Yodon sent an entire army of Bechats flying with a wave of darkness fired from his face.
• Corruption: Yodon could erode a person's morality to the point of being evil as seen with Galza.
• Self-Resurrection: As long as his true face remained protected, Yodon could resurrect himself at will whenever he was destroyed.
• Energy Lasers: Yodon could shoot dark energy lasers from the mouth-based opening on his torso.
• Deflection: Yodon was able to deflect Galza's ultimate attack with a swipe of his hand.
• Lightning Vision: Emperor Yodon could project purple lightning from his eyes strong enough to cause gigantic explosions and send both Juru and Galza flying. He also fired red ones in an attempt to prevent the other four Kiramagers from escaping in Mashin Oradin.
• Lightning Beams: Emperor Yodon could release red lightning beams from his right hand fatal enough to kill Galza with a single hit.
• Lightning Bolt: Emperor Yodon could channel red lightning slowly into his right hand and unleash a devastating lightning bolt of the same color. This caused a gigantic explosion and ripped apart both Grateful Phoenix and King Express with one hit.
• Chest Lightning Blast: Emperor Yodon could fire light purple lightning from the “eyes” on his chest strong enough to blast Smog Jouki clean off of him.
• Jamental (ジャメンタル, Jamentaru): Emperor Yodon revealed himself to be the progenitor of the dark equivalent to Kiramental, Jamental. His Jamental power was proven much stronger than Galza at the time when he was corrupted and shared by him.
• Shockwave Kick: Emperor Yodon could release black shockwaves with a single kick powerful enough to knock back Kiramaizin.
• Regeneration: Being a mass of polluted slime, Yodon could regenerate parts or his entire body at will in an explosion of brown sludge from where the part used to be.
• Expert Craftsman: Emperor Yodon was an expert in crafting items since he was the one who made his own mask.
• Enemy Consumption: Emperor Yodon could consume his enemies to make himself stronger.
• Materialization: Yodon was revealed to have been the one who created Yodonna and Shadon out of nothing.
• Smog Generation: Emperor Yodon could release dark gray smog from his shoulders and mouth-based opening on his torso to corrupt the atmosphere.
• Bechat Summoning: Yodon could summon an army of Bechats, but the ones he summoned resemble the Jamenshi of different body types. These were dubbed Guard Bechats by the Kiramagers, as they served to protect the Emperor after he was deprived of his protective Jamen.
• Yodon Destroyer (ヨドンデストロイヤー, Yodon Desutoroiyā): Yodon's most powerful attack of all where he could generate a large ball of dark green energy (with glowing yellow energy at its core) from the “mouth” on his stomach that he would then send speeding along the ground to slam into and severely damage whatever it hit. The attack caused a horrendously big explosion and crippled Kiramaizin and GiganDriller.
  • Ultimate Yodon Destroyer (ヨドンデストロイヤー, Yodon Desutoroiyā): A stronger variation of the normal Yodon Destroyer where he generated it over his head as an even bigger energy ball nearly as big as the city which he would presumably drop to the ground when ready. This could be charged to destroy the entirety of planet Earth if allowed to be powered up for long enough.

Arsenal

• Fist-Emperor Yodon had a normal right hand but his strength made it formidable.
• Tentacle Arm: Emperor Yodon had a spiked tail-like tentacle for a left arm which he could use in combat.
  • Energy Tendrils: Yodon could transform his tentacle into multiple purple energy tendrils that were strong enough to cause massive explosions around the entire city and overpower Kiramaizin, GigantDriller and Grateful Phoenix.
  • Energy Whip-Emperor Yodon could charge a small amount of light pink energy into his tentacle arm to swipe at his enemies with like a whip. This left Gigant Driller on the backfoot and overwhelmed all six Kiramagers.
  • Energy Slash: Emperor Yodon could release dark purple energy slashes from his tentacle arm strong enough to send Galza flying out of his mind and it later killed Yodonna.
• Masks: On each side of his head was a mask. By covering his face with one of the masks, he could assume a form based on one of his absorbed subordinates. Yodon also had a primary mask which he wore in his true form. This is his one weak spot, but as it was made of the strongest substance in the universe, it made him nigh-invulnerable to attacks.
  • Yodonna Mask: The mask on the left side of his head allowed Yodonna's consciousness to take control and shapeshift into her body. He willingly lost this mask after killing Yodonna.
  • Shadon Mask: The mask on the right side of his head allowed Shadon's consciousness to take control and shapeshift into his body. He lost this mask when Shadon died which made it explode.
  • Galza Mask: After incorporating Galza into his consciousness as a replacement for Shadon, the mask on the right side of Yodon's head allowed Galza's consciousness to take control and shapeshift into his body. He discarded this mask when he casted Galza out of his mind.

Weaknesses

• Purity: Emperor Yodon apparently couldn't last too long on planets that are undefiled. To compensate, he appeared in the form of Yodonna or Shadon.
  • Transformed State: Another major weakness is that when he is transformed into Yodonna or Shadon, he is significantly weaker and more vulnerable to his enemies' attacks.
• Mask Destruction: If any general that serves as an aspect of his personality has been destroyed, the mask representing them will be destroyed as well, leaving Yodon unable to use it anymore.
• Surprise Attacks: Though extremely strong and nigh-invulnerable, Emperor Yodon was extremely susceptible to surprise attacks as happened with both GigantDriller and Smog Jouki.
• Yodon Destroyer: Despite this being his most powerful attack, Yodon himself was vulnerable to the attack, as if distracted, the charged sphere will fall and explode on him and deal devastating damage. In fact, this was the only move that actually forced him to revive.
• Kanaema Stones: Yodon is prone to the Kanaema Stones' powers as shown when Tametomo used the Reversia Stone to regress him back into Yodonna and seal him temporarily.
• Mask Removal: In order to consume his victims and their power, Emperor Yodon had to remove his indestructible mask which ultimately proved to be his undoing.
• Hubris: Emperor Yodon was an extremely arrogant and confident villain. This proved detrimental when he assumed that the Kiramagers and their Mashin were deceased despite being completely intact.
• Real Face: As detected by Zabyun's Lorenzini Search, Yodon's real face is his mortal weak spot, lying under an unbreakable mask. Hitting it with enough power killed him outright.
• Regeneration Sourcing: With his primary mask as the source of his regeneration ability, losing it will prevent him from regenerating again.

Portrayal

• Emperor Yodon was voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji (山路 和弘, Yamaji Kazuhiro) who previously voiced the Leo Imagin in Kamen Rider Den-O and Bel in Doki Doki! Pretty Cure. His suit actor is Yohei Fujita, who also did suit acting in Kiramager as Kiramaizin and King Oradin.

• Yodon was the first male boss villain of the Reiwa Era, and of the 2020s.
• Yodon's motif is that of a snake.
  • Yodon was a first snake-themed monster since Jarnake Saucer from Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger.
• Yodon's ability to turn himself into a general of his faction made him similar to Brajira of the Messiah and his Buredoran disguises from Tensou Sentai Goseiger.
  • Unlike Brajira though (whose disguises are physically similar to his original form), Emperor Yodon is capable of changing his entire form into a different one.
• Yodon was the first Yodonheim member to be naturally giant aside from the Jamen Beasts though he shrinks when he assumes the identities of Yodonna, Shadon, or Galza.
• Galza's mask was essentially repainted from Shadon's mask, which is evidently shown with the red faint accents on it.
• As a leader formed from a lower life form with his origins being the driving motivation behind his campaign of conquest, he's similar to Ginis from Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger.
  • This was further emphasized by how his alternate personas reflect a degree of contradiction to his overall presence of power.
• A shorter version of Yodon's costume was used for the final 2 episodes of Kiramager.
