The Drill Robot was one of many Troobian Empire Robots "given" to Emperor Gruumm by Broodwing.

History[]

The first Drill Robot is utilized by General Benaag to terrorize Newtech City and force a final battle with Doggie Cruger. The first indications of an attack are "energy tremors" which prompts the deployment of the Delta Runners only for the Drill Robot to appear. The tremors turns out to be massive multi-colored drills drilling out from the Earth's core, the Drill Robot grabbing this and another drill to upend them into the ground. The Delta Runners quickly arrive and Delta Runner 4 tries to ram it only to get kicked away. Delta Runner 3 then blasts it and Delta Runner 1 tries to take it out using the Delta Sword (in a similar way to the second Conenose Robot). However, the Drill Robot catches the blade in its bare hands and throws it away just before diving into the ground. By the time that Delta Runner 3 opens fire, it has drilled underground and gotten away. It soon transpires that the Drill Robot has placed them in four central locations, the north, west, and east ends as well as New Tech Airport. By themselves, they are useless but, if pulled from the ground or if a Meganeutron Spike is placed in the center of the 5, there will be earthquakes strong enough to annihilate New Tech City.

Whilst Doggie goes to face General Benaag and get Kat back, the Drill Robot soon returns to plant the Meganeutron spike but finds itself confronted with the Delta Squad Megazord. They restrain it with Super Crime Scene Tape and go to put the Mega Cuffs on it. However, it uses its spike tail to disarm the Megazord before breaking free and smacking down the Megazord. At the same time that Cruger destroys Benaag's Krybots, the Drill Robot lunges only to be blocked by the Delta Sword and quickly pushed back. However, it releases an utterly devastating energy blast that takes out the Megazord for a good while. After a prolonged battle cry, the Megazord recovers and starts to turn the tables with multiple hits from its Delta Sword. Deciding that enough is enough, the Blue Head activates the head drill and charges at the Megazord only to have the Delta Sword thrust into it, shattering the head drill immediately. It then performs the Delta Strike which destroys both the Drill Robot and its Blue Head pilot. Tvicon TV STORY-Shadow

After Z saves his security guard hostage, and his Krybots are destroyed, Green Eyes flees the gold depository and enters the 2nd Drill Robot and prepares to attack the city. However, before he can, he is confronted by the Delta Squad Megazord and tries to blast it into oblivion. Before it can make contact though, it leaps into the air and performs the Delta Strike which cuts off the Drill Robot's forehead drill and overloading the robot's systems. Now helpless, Syd judges Green Eyes and finds him guilty of gold theft so they charge up the Delta Blaster, destroying this robot and capturing Green Eyes. Tvicon TV STORY-Perspective

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Chest Energy Blasts: The original Drill Robot was able to charge its chest-plate up with dark red energy to fire a massive energy blast. This was its strongest attack since it took down the Delta Squad Megazord with one hit.
  • Lightning Blast: Unlike the original, the second Drill Robot was able to fire a stream of blue lightning from its single eye but the Delta Squad Megazord avoided it.

Abilities[]

  • Burrowing: Both Drill Robots were able to burrow out from under the ground and into the ground. The original did this by falling flat on its face and using the various drills on its body whereas the second just popped up from underground.
  • Strength: The original Drill Robot could pick up and carry around the massive drills that were sent to the surface by Gruumm's forces as well as send the Delta Squad Megazord to the ground with one uppercut.
  • Durability: The original Drill Robot shrugged off multiple hits from both Delta Runner 3 and the Delta Sword and the second survived the Delta Strike.

Weaknesses[]

Arsenal[]

  • Drills: Both versions of the Drill Robot had a plethora of drills on its wrists, around its hands, which it can slap the Megazord with.
  • Head Drill: Both Drill Robots had a massive golden drill protruding from their foreheads which could be spun by either drill. What damage this would do is unclear as it was either destroyed or the robot was stopped before it could make contact.
  • Drill Tail: The first Drill Robot had a giant blue tail on its back that it can use to stab its enemies with hard enough to knock away the Mega Cuffs. The second Drill Robot did not appear to have this tail.

Notes[]

  • The Drill Robot was the only type of robot to be destroyed by both of the Delta Squad Megazord's finishers.
  • The original Sentai version of the Drill Robot was used in the creation of Heavy Industrial Machine Frankenzaurus whereas, in S.P.D., it played no role in the creation of the Gigabot.
