Dorobozu (ドロボーズ Dorobōzu) was an octopus, vacuum cleaner and robber themed Player.
History[]
One of just two remaining Players from Team Jagged, Dorobozu comes to the Sagittari Ark to meet with Ginis alongside his other teammate Hunterji. Though Naria introduces both Players. Azald is very confused since only Hunterji is visible but Dorobozu reveals himself from being invisible. They wish to become new Team Leaders but Quval has his doubts about their abilities due to how little a fight Jagged put up against the Zyuohgers. As such, Ginis decides to make them prove their worthiness by assigning them their own Blood Game each to carry out. To decide who will be the first to go, Dorobozu and Hunterji play rock paper scissors which Dorobozu loses by playing paper to Hunterji's scissors but his teammate lets the disappearing Player go first instead. After getting Ginis' blessing, Dorobozu goes to Earth and plans to steal money to destroy Earth's economy which would plunge the world into eternal chaos and impress Ginis. Even as Amu tries to bond with a wheelchair bound girl named Marin, Dorobozu invades a bank which sends the clerks fleeing as he sucks up all of their cash. As he bombards them with his own money however, the Zyuohgers appear having been alerted to his presence by thier Zyuman instincts and Leo boots him straight off the counter he is sitting on. Though Dorobozu takes offence with being called just thief, the Zyuohgers henshin (Yamato becoming Zyuoh Gorilla)and they quickly consume the Player in a giant cartoonish brawling dust cloud until they stop when he is well and truly stunned. When Amu calls him weak however, Dorobozu conjures up a child that he has kidnapped before blinding them with traffic cones fired onto their heads and making his escape using super speed as they stumble around. The kid, as it turns out, was a road traffic warning sign shaped like a small child with Dorobozu projecting his voice through an attached speaker.
Back on the Sagittari Ark, Dorobozu reveals a briefcase filled with money and reveals his plan to cripple Earth's economy but Quval points out how absurdly long that will take but is led away by Naria to a backroom where she kicks some sense into him and points out that he should be using his invisibility powers. Taking her advice, Dorobozu returns to Earth but just wanders the streets muttering about only being able to go invisible for a maximum of three minutes. At this point however, Dorobozu spots Yamato, Leo and Amu meeting up at the park and goes invisible (narrowly avoiding Leo detecting him) and they leave to return to the Atelier Mori but Amu runs off to go and meet with Juzo, the brother of Marin for some flirting. After she and Juzo leave, Dorobozu has heard Juzo mention some precious gems from previous Japanese civilizations (since Juzo is a museum security guard) and sees it as a chance to steal something far more valuable than ordinary bills but has to slip away when his invisibility wears out. Later that night, Dorobozu ambushes Juzo outside of the museum and bribes him; help the Deathgalien get the precious gems and Dorobozu gives him the entire briefcase of money (about fifty million yen in untraceable bills) to help pay his sick sister's hospital bills. To help Juzo keep his side of the bargain, Dorobozu hands him a special blaster full of special restraint tape to keep them from interfering.
The next morning, after Amu learns that that Marin will be able to get her surgery, the Zyuohgers again detect Dorobozu's presence and go to the warehouse district with Amu realizing that this is the jewellery exhibit mentioned by Juzo earlier. Shortly after Juzo restrains the Zyuohgers, Dorobozu waltzes in the front door and overwhelms security using his brute strength and suction powers. However, much to his horror, the Zyuohgers confront him after he smashes the first jewel case since Juzo saw reason and freed them as he reveals his motives and that he never intended to pay Juzo anyway. Enraged at this guy's gall and disgusting methods, the Zyuohgers henshin and do their roll call before Amu takes down Dorobozu with her claws which makes him flee out of the museum. With the Zyuohgers in hot pursuit, Dorobozu goes invisible to outwit them but Sela's amazing shark hearing allows her to detect his footsteps and make him reappear with a shot from her Zyuoh Buster. Going invisible again, Dorobozu steps far too light for her to hear him but Tusk (being an elephant Zyuman) smells him out and makes him reappear at which point Sela charges in with her Zyuoh Buster blade mode and quickly double kick him to the others who energy slash him down. With Dorobozu crippled, the Zyuohgers team-up and slay Dorobozu with the Zyuoh Slash with the Player only having time to question their criticism of him lying due to his nature before falling on his back and being blown apart.
Unfortunately, as Juzo locates the briefcase full of money, Naria teleports down and enlarges Dorobozu by placing a Continue Medal on his corpse, enlarging the Player who thanks her and declares himself to be a master thief but she says he is just a giant thief much to his disappointment. The Zyuohgers summon thier Zyuoh Cubes and form Wild ZyuohKing so Dorobozu declares that he has his own Giant Robo to fight them in but it doesn't actually exist only to reveal that it was a ploy and bop them away with a strike from his back. Sucking up some cars and other assorted street paraphernalia, he blasts them with those too but they summon Cube Kuma and equip Wild ZyuohKing with it. Deflecting the last of the cars and assorted things, they finish off Dorobozu with the Kuma Axe Zyuoh Impact, the Player only having time to bemoan not being able to trick any more people before being blown apart. Legacy[]
After Dorobozu's death, Hunterji tries his hand next but is soon defeated as well with that marking the definitive end of Team Azald. TV STORY-Ep. 15: The Shiver-Raising Sniper
Through scanning Amu's memory of him, Dorobozu is "revived" by Bangray who sends him to follow the Zyuohgers and Captain Marvelous who do not realize his presence due to his cloaking ability, ultimately ending up at the Link Cube from which the Great King's Credential is recovered, revealing itself as the link to Cube Whale - the Legendary Megabeast that Bangray seeks - as it assumed the form of the Whale Change Gun. It is at this point that Bangray reveals himself along with Dorobozu with both proceeding to engage the Zyuohgers in order to obtain the Whale Change Gun which is soon snatched by Gokai Red who attacks Dorobozu in the form of GaoRed in return for getting caught in the wide impact of the Idadaki Hand's blast. When Gokai Red escapes the battle as Red Hawk with Zyuoh Eagle in pursuit, Bangray scans Zyuoh Tiger's memory again to bring forth a giant Bowguns as another decoy while he leaves to pursue the Whale Change Gun. Entrusting Zyuoh TheWorld to deal with Bowguns in Tousai Zyuoh, the Zyuman Zyuohgers turn their attention towards Dorobozu whom they then easily destroy with their Instinct Awakened modes. TV STORY-Ep. 28: The Space Pirates Return
Personality[]
Dorobozu was a very friendly monster (to his allies) and proved to be quite sneaky but was very whiny when things didn't go his way (to the point of wallowing on the floor when he lost rock paper scissors) and wasn't very bright. However, he was also extremely shady and conniving with no qualms of manipulating people through guilt tripping and making them blame themselves for their family member's misfortunes.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Strength-Dorobozu was able to send museum guards sprawling with sheer strength and throw them into other guards with single swings of his Idadaki Hands.
- Durability-Dorobozu was able to take a mass pounding from all five Zyuohgers (including Zyuoh Gorilla) in a cartoonish dust clouded brawl but quickly recovered and energy slashes from four of the Zyuranger's Zyuoh Busters did little.
- Resilience-Energy slashes from Amu's claws and a direct hit from both Sela and Tusk's Zyuoh Buster did little more than stun him for a few seconds.
- Super Speed-Dorobozu was able to run at incredible speeds to escape as seen when he escaped the fight in the bank.
- Trickery: Dorobozu was very good at making deals and manipulating the other side of the deal before then backstabbing the dealer.
- Idadaki Hand Suction (イタダキハンド Idadaki Hando): Dorobozu's right hand which could vacuum things and store them inside his head.
- Item Strike-Dorobozu's left hand could shoot out any stored item that he sucked up out at high velocity as an attack.
- Karakusa Stealth Suit (唐草ステルスーツ Karakusa Suterusu Sutu): Dorobozu could turn himself invisible at will by shimmering in and out of existence.
- Zyuman Sense Immunity-By going invisible, Dorobozu was completely immune to detection by the Zyuman Zyuohger's natural danger sense.
- Muting-At one point, Dorobozu walked right up between Leo and Yamato and talked but they evidently couldn't hear him.
- Object Summoning-Dorobozu was able to throw out his arms to summon the bag with the "kidnapped kid" inside and his briefcase of money out of thin air.
- Combo: Vacuum! (きゅいーん! Kyuiin): Dorobozu's signature combo move which allowed him to vacuum humans onto his suction cup hands and then blast them at other people. This was only performed on museum security.
- Teleporting-Dorobozu was able to teleport to any location at will by shimmering and vanishing like he did when going invisible.
- Back Bop-Dorobozu was able to run up, jump to have his back facing forwards, and then jump into his enemy with his back mound with enough force to knock back Wild ZyuohKing.
Abilities[]
- Depth Perception: Dorobozu had depth perception despite having just a single eye.
Weaknesses[]
- Low Intelligence: Dorobozu clearly wasn't that smart since he didn't even think of using his special ability until Naria pointed it out to his face.
- Time Out-Dorobozu was only able to remain invisible for three minutes before he would be forced to become visible for a "cool down period."
- Enhanced Hearing-Anyone with enhanced hearing like Sela would be able to track his hearing and detect his presence.
- Enhanced Smell-Even when Dorobozu stepped lightly enough for Sela not to hear him, Tusk was able to use his enhanced sense of smell to track and attack him.
Arsenal[]
- Idadaki Hands-Dorobozu had no weapons of his own but had massive suction cup covered hands to suck up objects or smack his enemies with.
- Karakusa Catcher (唐草キャッチャー Karakusa Kyacha): Dorobozu wielded net launcher which could shoot Karakusa cloth to catch enemies.
