Don 44: White Revealed, Black Revealed (しろバレ、くろバレ Shiro Bare, Kuro Bare) is the forty-fourth episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. It features Tsubasa Inuzuka revealing his identity to the other Donbrothers as Inu Brother.

Synopsis

Taro and his companions call Tsubasa to learn more about the Juto. Tsubasa's story was different from the information Taro heard from Natsumi. Tsubasa is told by Sononi that if he defeats the Juto, the copied original human will return. Tsubasa tries to defeat the Juto Natsumi with Murasame in order to save the real Natsumi, but he was deceived by Sononi. Meanwhile, Tsuyoshi has been trying to keep Miho out of the house, but she cannot stand it.

Plot

Sononi recaps her time observing Tsubasa, stating she is not sure how humans endure their struggles with desire and emotions and lamenting that her kind may never experience such a thing.

Sonoi is painting beautiful scenery in the park and is surprised how well his painting turned out, wondering how long he has been able to do this as he never noticed before.

Sonoza is at the cafe reviewing the latest pages of Haruka’s manga and is moved to tears and laughs at the humor contained within. He praises her work and says he has nothing more to teach her, but she insists he continue to guide her through her journey as her editor. Sonoza accepts, but promises to be strict.

Tsuyoshi is getting dressed and is surprised to hear that Miho wants to go back to work at the salon, but he refuses to let her leave the apartment. He tries to plan a video game night and various other activities for her to do at home like learning to knit as he leaves. Miho is depressed that her husband is keeping her stuck inside the apartment.

At Cafe Donbura, Taro calls Tsubasa for a meeting about the Juto, wanting him to disclose all the information he knows so far about them since he was replaced by one. Given that they have had encounters with the creatures as well, it is important to compare notes and see if they can learn about their enemy. Tsubasa wonders why they want to know in thought, unaware of his friends identities as his Ranger teammates. Tsuyoshi arrives and apologizes for being late for the meeting.

Taro asks where the Forest of Slumber is, to which Tsubasa says he doesn’t know but reveals that Juto can copy humans and repeats what Sononi told him: killing a Juto returns their human counterpart to the human world. Taro finds that last part odd since Miho in her Crane persona told him months ago that killing the Juto also kills the human that they copied. Tsubasa calls them amateurs and tells them to stay away from the Juto and leaves.

The group finds that statement odd, while Jiro says he is going back home for a while. Shinichi finds it unusual that Jiro keeps heading home so often nowadays, but Jiro says he just doesn’t want Rumi to feel lonely. Jiro then invites Taro to visit his hometown to meet Rumi and Mr. Terasaki, his foster father. Taro surprisingly accepts the offer, saying if Jiro is part of the Don Clan then he should repay Mr. Terasaki for taking care of Jiro. Haruka finds that mentality old fashioned, reminding him it’s the Reiwa Era, but Taro doesn’t care because every era is his era.

Jiro tries to show off a photo of him and Rumi on his phone to Tsuyoshi… but nobody is in the photo but him. This creeps out Tsuyoshi who thinks that this acknowledges that Jiro is crazy.

At a corporate office, the boss is praising his employees on their work and an employee named Rikio Ono tries to show how hard he worked on a business proposal, but is given minor praise and then ignored. Rikio is depressed about this and then tries to be noticed by his coworkers by showing off his rainbow tie when the ladies flirt with another coworker about his orange tie. Rikio desires for someone, anyone, to give him sincere praise and this desire turns him into the Bioman Hitotsuki, Chodenshiki.

Elsewhere, Miho has snuck out of the apartment and is at the salon, asking her boss if she can return to work as she finds being stuck at home extremely boring. Miho is unaware that Sononi has found her outside and knows she is a Juto.

She finds Tsubasa and orders him to hunt her down to get Natsumi back. Tsubasa is hesitant, because he isn’t sure he can hurt someone who resembles his girlfriend. He even wonders if there is an alternative, such as finding a way back to the Forest of Silence to rescue the real Natsumi. Sononi tries to dissuade this by claiming it was a fluke that he ended up in the Forest that time by being caught while a Juto was feeding on an Anoni and it cannot be repeated again. She manipulates his love for Natsumi to convince him to do the deed, calling him weak and that he needs to show resolve.

Tsubasa marches off and later finds Miho at a train station. Upon realizing his intentions, her Crane personality takes over and she tries to reason with him, but Tsubasa Avatar Changes and attacks her. Despite being scratched by a stray bullet, she fully heals and states it is useless to try to destroy her as she is immortal and even if it was possible, killing her would kill Natsumi. Tsubasa doesn’t believe her and pursues her as she tries to run away, keeping Miho from running by shooting at her and using his shuriken. Sononi watches the fight from afar, remembering the time when Tsubasa was blind and believed she was Natsumi.

She starts to feel guilt as Miho is forced to change into her Crane form and Tsubasa demorphs and calls Murasame, striking her. Injured badly, Miho reverts back to her human guise and is helpless with Tsubasa about to land the killing blow, when Sononi suddenly stops him by pushing her out of the way and takes the hit. Miho struggles and crawls away as Sononi slowly passes out from her injuries and a shocked Tsubasa desperately tries to keep her awake and drops Murasame.

Miho is keeping pressure on her wound and struggling to climb up some steps when Taro finds her and asks how she got injured. Miho says it is not his concern, so he asks if what she said before was true about humans and their Juto copies. Miho says she tells stories, not lies. Taro asks why she is helping him, and she says being Miho made her realize that humans make the smallest things push them towards bigger dreams, no matter how impossible they seem. Taro doesn’t understand, but she says that makes her better than him because she understands humans more. Miho almost falls and Taro tries to help her, but she tells him to let go of her because she hates the Don Clan. She staggers off with Taro unsure how to process that.

Chodenshiki is running around and emitting waves from his body to make people praise him involuntarily and then absorbs those people.

Tsuyoshi returns to the apartment, wondering what activities he and Miho can do together at home, only to see her staggering behind him, collapsing from her wounds and he sees she is bleeding upon racing to her side.

In a run down apartment, Tsubasa manages to revive Sononi, asking her why she protected Miho. Sononi says she is sorry, she lied to him as she intended to kill the real Natsumi. Before she can explain why, Sonoi appears to take her back home and Tsubasa leaves. What Sonoi and Sonoza actually intend to do is execute Sononi for betraying the Noto by aiding a Juto.

Back at the apartment, Tsuyoshi managed to stop Miho’s bleeding with bandages and a towel and is upset, he says he told her not to go out of the apartment. She explains that Tsubasa attacked her as an ambulance arrives and this angers him.

Sononi is also being executed because of a serious crime: she has fallen in love with a human. Any who side with the species that the Don Clan cherished over their kind shall be punished and killed. Sononi knows that she has broken the law and simply asks to make her death quick. Sonoi lifts his blade, takes a swing, but stops himself because he can’t do it and drops his sword. Sonoza shows more resolve, but he hesitates as well and even cries a little, dropping his spear.

Sononi staggers off, with Sonoi remembering that she once said that Tsubasa would shed the blood of love, only for her words to ironically now be meant for her.

Tsubasa is crying at Cafe Donbura, unsure of what to do next to get Natsumi back and horrified he almost killed her. Kaito says that Tsuyoshi called and wants Tsubasa to meet with him at Oniga parking garage.

Tsubasa arrives and Tsuyoshi angrily asks if he was the one who hurt his wife. Tsubasa says he did but tries to explain that the woman was a Juto and not Miho, but this falls on deaf ears as his admission of attacking her earns him Tsuyoshi’s fire and he attacks him while having a fit. Tsubasa keeps trying to get through to Tsuyoshi about Miho but he refuses to listen. He transforms into Kiji Brother, flying into the air and ramming Tsubasa who also transforms, just in the nick of time as he crashes into a cargo truck. The two Rangers fight but a burst of fury from Tsuyoshi deflects Tsubasa’s shuriken and he shoots him repeatedly with his DonBlaster. Tsubasa is forced out of his transformation and Tsuyoshi charges up his weapon, having full intent on killing Tsubasa.

Tsuyoshi fires, but Sononi quickly shields Tsubasa from the shot and collapses a few feet away. Tsuyoshi detransforms and is shocked about what he just did. Tsubasa tries to race to Sononi but Chodenshiki appears and the two men put aside their differences to help Sononi by keeping the Hitotsuki away from her. Taro shoots it and the entire team transforms together for the first time, Sononi staggers away while the Donbrothers keep Chodenshiki busy.

Chodenshiki asks to be praised and Taro flatters him by saying how strong he is, but this was a trick to leave him open to attack and Chodenshiki gets struck repeatedly by the ZanglaSword. With the team all together, Taro brings back the Momotaro Slash with Jiro doing the Savage Dragon Dance attack alongside him, Chodenshiki is then fully purified with the explosion somehow causing snow to fall.

Sononi tries to get up a flight of stairs but her body gives out and she falls down and lays on the street dying. Tsubasa finds her and tries to wake her, with Kaito approaching, Tsubasa begs Kaito for help. Kaito goes to his laptop at the cafe and cashes in Tsubasa’s Kibi-Points, leaving only two remaining. Tsubasa is relieved when Sononi opens her eyes, but then pushes her away. Sononi tries to go with him, but he tells her to stay away from him and to never speak to him again, upset about her scheme to make him a pawn to kill Natsumi. Heartbroken, Sononi starts to cry knowing she experienced love and now… loss.

Haruka has a hotpot dinner with her aunt Yuriko, but has a serious look on her face as she feels she missed something important. Upon going to bed, she wakes up and remembers that she saw Tsubasa transform and he was the true identity of Inu Brother, shocked by this revelation… and then she immediately goes back to sleep.
