Don 35: Origami Song (おりがみのうた Origami No Uta) is the thirty-fifth episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. It features the debut of GolDon ToQ 1gou.

Synopsis[]

Tsubasa, who was caught in the trap of Tsuyoshi, is interrogated by Detective Kitou. On the other hand, Tsuyoshi tried to get Miho back, but Miho, who regained Natsumi's memory, didn't have memories of Tsuyoshi's time with her. Tsuyoshi, who is persistently approaching Natsumi, is caught by a police officer. Tsubasa and Tsuyoshi meet at the detention center and Tsubasa is asked by a detective to investigate the Juto. Also, Jiro, who was attacked by Murasame and has suffered a great deal of damage, is visited by his childhood friend Rumi.

Plot[]

At Cafe Donbura, Haruka and Shinichi have a discussion with Taro about the GolDon armor, which is being interrupted by Tsuyoshi aggressively stirring his iced coffee. Taro tells him to knock it off, which causes Tsuyoshi to lash out at everyone, going especially hard on Shinichi for being a jobless vagrant. Once he comes to his senses after the outburst, Tsuyoshi apologizes for yelling and excuses himself, leaving the cafe.

Meanwhile, back at the police station where Tsubasa is being held, Inspector Yuriko Kitou is seemingly attracted to her prisoner’s handsome looks but also her trained police intuition tells her Tsubasa doesn’t seem like the type of person who is a criminal. The police interrogation resumes, with Tsubasa not only claiming his innocence, but that Natsumi Kuramochi is no longer missing and was living with him. The detectives say if that is true, then this changes everything about the case against him. Yuriko smiles, happy that her intuitions about Tsubasa were correct.

Tsuyoshi is seemingly on his way to work, depressed about Miho being missing for the past few days until he sees her nearby. He races up to her and pleads for her to come home, but Natsumi doesn’t recognize him and tries to tell him that he has the wrong person and mistook her for someone else. This further upsets Tsuyoshi and he tries to forcefully drag Natsumi back home in front of a passing police officer, who swiftly captures him and places Tsuyoshi under arrest for harassment, attempting a kidnapping and assaulting an officer when he angrily resists claiming that the woman he was abducting was his wife.

Tsuyoshi gets taken to the station, putting up a struggle and screaming for Miho all the way to his cell, only to discover Tsubasa is his cell mate. Tsubasa asks if Tsuyoshi collected the ¥1,000,000 reward yet for capturing him, under the assumption that is part of why Tsuyoshi betrayed him, only for the latter to bitterly say that money was not the issue but stealing Miho was. Tsubasa tries once again to be sympathetic, saying he understands how he feels about it and knows the pain of losing someone. This time, Tsuyoshi is seemingly more receptive to his talk. He offers to split the reward money with Tsubasa if they get out but he refuses and tells him to use the money however he wants. Tsuyoshi then suddenly thinks that this is some kind of trick, he goes on a conspiratorial rant that he is being bribed to let Tsubasa run off with his bride and then attacks him. The two bicker back and forth about Miho/Natsumi’s identity as they fight until the prison guards come in and forcefully restrain and separate them.

Tsubasa is taken to the interrogation room, with the detectives confirming that Natsumi was in the apartment. This drops the charges for kidnapping, but there are unrelated missing persons cases that may be connected to Natsumi. Yuriko reveals that she knows about the Juto and has been investigating them since the day they attacked her during her kidnapping. She has seen police reports about missing people returning and behaving oddly such as folding origami or acting violently and she has correctly deduced that they are Juto impersonating the missing individuals.

The police are concerned about this, especially after finding out the Detective Sayama they had been working with was an imposter. They propose that Tsubasa help with the investigation by observing Natsumi carefully. If she is a Juto, then the police can find out more about who they are and what they want. Yuriko offers a deal to completely clear Tsubasa of all charges and be a free man if he accepts assisting the police in the investigation. Tsubasa refuses to accept that Natsumi is a Juto, but the idea of being free makes him agree to the deal.

In a rainy alley, Murasame is resting within the Ninjarksword and is found by Sonoza, who retrieves him and senses he is in a weakened state from battling someone. Sonoza then seals him and continues to examine the Ninjarksword.

Rumi has arrived in Tokyo and is amazed by all the people walking around while also carrying a travel guide book. She arrives at Jiro’s little home, hoping to surprise him with her visit, she instead sees Jiro lying in bed with a high fever and injured. Delirious from his fever, Jiro thinks Rumi is an angel and he died and is in Heaven. A concerned Rumi tries to snap Jiro out of his delirium, searching for something to bring down the fever.

Natsumi is in a outdoor theater, warming up for a play rehearsal by doing various quotations of Shakespeare. Tsubasa is unexpectedly there, applauding her performance, with something to ask her.

He takes Natsumi to a beautiful part of the park near a pond and brings out a ring, asking for her hand in marriage. He admits he tried to attempt to do it before, but now that he has her back, he feels he needs to show courage and do it now. Natsumi, with happy tears, says she accepts his proposal and lets Tsubasa put on the engagement ring. Tsubasa cries, saying that the ring looks lovely on her and he has waited so long for this day. The two lovers then joyously embrace each other’s arms.

Unbeknownst to the happy couple, Sononi is observing them from a distance with Sonoi commenting on how her obsession with Tsubasa is to understand love. She agrees that it is a reason, and thinks that Tsubasa is now on a dangerous path and in time that path will inflict a tremendous amount of pain. Once it does, he will “shed the blood of love”.

Somewhere in an amusement park, a college student is researching youth culture. He becomes obsessed and laments he wasted his youth constantly studying to get good grades, he begins to question what youth even is and what makes it special. This burning desire and failure to get answers from other people transforms him into the Liveman Hitotsuki, Chojuki.

Later in the evening, Tsubasa is back at the apartment with Natsumi, celebrating their engagement with a home cooked meal of pork tenderloin in porcini sauce and scorpionfish aqua pazza. His fiancé admires the delicious food and they toast with champagne to a prosperous future. They laugh and talk through dinner until Natsumi falls asleep. Tsubasa cleans up the table and covers her with a blanket, thinking to himself that she is exactly as he remembers her and she cannot possibly be a Juto. He does wonder why she acted as Miho for the year she was gone and decides to speak with Jin.

He offers Jin leftovers and asks about the Juto, despite insulting him accidentally and nearly getting kicked out. Jin explains that the realm he resides in used to be a traveling gateway for the Juto to enter the human world, but it was eventually sealed and he was made its prisoner/guardian for the crime of harboring and raising a child of the Don Clan. Shocked that Jin is Don Momotaro’s adopted father, Tsubasa remembers how his team leader treated him in the past and remarks what a bad parent Jin is. Jin ignores this and suspects that the Juto have somehow found another way to enter the human world. Tsubasa asks where it might be, but Jin finishes his bento box and declares that visiting hours are over.

Tsubasa exits back to the apartment and finds that Natsumi is gone and a paper crane left on the table, which he angrily crushes upon realizing that his love is a Juto.

At Shirokuma Express the next day, Taro is reading about his delivery route and prepares to load his van, only to find a strange young man sitting in the cargo area asking him what youth is. Taro removes him from the van and insists that he stop bothering him as he is working. The young student persists on asking what youth is and Taro unleashes his brutal honesty again, saying that the student is unfocused and wasting time on nonsense. Unhappy he didn’t get the answers he sought, the student becomes Chojuki again and Taro reluctantly has to abandon his work to chase after him.

Chojuki deletes a building with a laser as the Donbrothers arrive, with Tsuyoshi still in an angry and irritated mood having been teleported from his cell and Tsubasa in a hurry to get the fight over with to find Natsumi. Taro orders his companions to remain focused and they all charge at the enemy, only to be hit by the Youthful Slow-Mo attack and blasted back by exploding sparkles. Taro decides to experiment further with the power of the GolDon armor by equipping an Avatar on top of it, using the ToQger Avataro Gear to become GolDon ToQ 1gou.

Rumi is tending to Jiro when the Ryukonogeki appears, Jiro tries to force himself up to go help the others but Rumi pleads for him to go back into bed to recover from his injuries. She hugs Jiro and her scent causes him to feel euphoric and pass out.

Chojuki tries to use the Youthful Slow-Mo again, but it doesn’t affect Taro as the GolDon armor is negating the effects of the attack while the others are blasted again. Taro summons the ToQ Blaster in sword mode to dual wield with the ZanglaSword to weaken Chojuki and then finishes him with the Laughing Peach: Festival End attack.

Chojuki becomes Chojuking and the team becomes GolDon Onitaijin, with the former using hand and elbow guns to try and blast the heroes. GolDon Onitaijin absorbs the shots with the GolDon Shield and sends them right back at Chojuking. GolDon Onitaijin then ends the fight with the DonBros Utopia and purifies Chojuking. The now purified student is energized, seemingly understanding youth and running towards the setting sun.

Tsubasa races to the park to find Natsumi, only to witness her devouring an Anoni and is devastated. The Detective Sayama Cat Juto attacks Natsumi and attempts to steal her prey, with the two fighting until Tsubasa confronts her. Natsumi escapes upon being seen by him while Sayama resumes devouring the Anoni.

Tsubasa tries to help her but gets sucked in as well, he awakens in a creepy forest filled with Cat Juto, who kill the Anoni he was trying to save. Tsubasa runs and then hears eerie singing and is surrounded by cat origami and the unconscious captured people who were abducted by the Juto, including the real Natsumi and the real Kenji Sayama, who are bound to a tree by vines. He tries to get up the tree to rescue her, but is then detected by the cat origami in the tree and bound up in vines. A Cat Juto grabs Tsubasa and places its origami in his throat and then takes on his appearance. Tsubasa watches in horror before he passes out suspended in the tree.

The fake Tsubasa goes to the human world and savagely devours food in the same restaurant that the fake Sayama first appeared in, beating up the owner and scaring the customers. He folds a cat origami using a paper menu and smiles sinisterly. Meanwhile, the real Tsubasa is trapped in the tree within the mysterious forest beside Natsumi, unconscious and unable to escape.
