Don 34: Natsumi Meets Me (なつみミーツミー Natsumi Mītsu Mī) is the thirty-fourth episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. It features the debut of GolDon Onitaijin.
Synopsis[]
It is a well-known fact that the resurrected Sonoi resembles Taro, but they do not admit it. Meanwhile, Tsuyoshi, who has once again become a Hitotsuki, is depressed. Meanwhile, Tsubasa, who is convinced that Miho is his girlfriend Natsumi, asks to have Miho's home-cooked meal at Tsuyoshi's house. Tsubasa has mixed feelings when he sees Tsuyoshi and Miho looking so happy. However, when Tsubasa leaves Tsuyoshi's house, Miho chases after him…
Plot[]
Tsuyoshi narrates the brief episode recap, stating how ashamed he feels about becoming a Hitotsuki again and about Taro’s new power. He is then seen at Cafe Donbura sulking in depression about becoming a monster for a second time, which Shinichi makes worse by commenting he could turn for a third time. Taro’s attempt to cheer up Tsuyoshi fails when he compares his value to that of an insect but sort of rebounds when mentioning that he is the only one who no longer has the Noto character on his forehead.
Kaito serves the gang coffee and Taro shows gratitude for saving his life. When Haruka inquires what he means, Kaito denies anything major happened and walks off. Shinichi finds that odd and is troubled by a lot of recent events that they are completely unaware of, such as Sonoi’s resurrection and Taro-like behavior.
Taro is seemingly completely oblivious to the comparison and denies that Sonoi is acting like him. However, he figures out that the energy stolen from him during the funeral fight with Sonoi’s armor is possibly what revived his rival and surprisingly he is able to lie about it to the others. He states he is one of a kind and no one else can be like him.
A somewhat similar situation plays out in Ideon, as Sonoza and Sononi are unsettled by Sonoi’s unusual behavior and want their comrade back to the way he was before. Sonoi shoves the two into the floating pillars of their base, stating that companions should be more mindful of their manners and not question him.
Elsewhere, Tsuyoshi is meeting with Tsubasa and is surprised he is accepting his previous offer to have dinner with him and Miho. Tsuyoshi says he will ask her about it, but later on is shown to still be depressed and not in the mood for entertaining Tsubasa with a home cooked meal. Miho finds her husband sulking in the park and thinks he is worried about work and tells him that he always lets things get to him. Miho reassures her husband that she will always be there by his side to support him. Tsuyoshi asks if she would still love him even if he became a monster, to which she says that she would and he would be a “cute” monster that she would still hug and kiss. This snaps Tsuyoshi out of his depression and he then asks if Tsubasa can come visit them for dinner.
Meanwhile, a new Hitotsuki is attacking the city, the Dekaranger themed Tokusoki. The cranky canine creature complains that he is a skilled chef and wonders why people are complaining about his food, desiring to have customers who show him some respect. He uses a twisted version of the Dekaranger’s SP License to delete the fleeing civilians. The Donbrothers teleport in and at first are distracted by what they were doing previously as civilians before noticing Tokusoki. Sonoi, Sonoza and Sononi arrive as well to try to slay Tokusoki, but Sonoi shifts his attention to Taro and the other Donbrothers push the opposing forces away so that the two rivals can duel again. Both act identical to each other and seem irritated about it as they fight, as both refuse to believe that they are similar. Tokusoki flees and both parties chase after it, with Taro and Sonoi dropping their feud to pursue the Hitotsuki.
Meanwhile, Dangerous Jiro is lying in bed in his shack, his injuries from his fight with Don Murasame being worse than he realized. The Ninjarksword has caused his whole body to feel intense and agonizing pain. He pulls out his phone and sees the photo of Rumi, reverting to his alter, who wishes she was here as he winces from the pain.
Later that evening, Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa meet up with Miho at the apartment where Tsuyoshi learns that Tsubasa has been visiting his wife at the salon for haircuts, thus the two are already acquainted. Tsubasa recognizes the food served to him as things he taught Natsumi how to make when the two were dating. This is confirmation to him that the woman known as Miho is actually Natsumi. The three toast the meal and Tsuyoshi later shows off his wedding album. While the two have a discussion about where they will travel to on their one year wedding anniversary, a sad but also jealous Tsubasa believes that Tsuyoshi doesn’t deserve Natsumi and he should be the one in the wedding photos. Tsuyoshi mentions Natsumi to Miho, who says that she sounds like a lovely woman. Tsubasa then says something that triggers a reaction from her: “I bet you tell all the girls that”, a phrase used often by Natsumi.
After Tsubasa leaves, Miho goes after him and Tsuyoshi soon follows behind her. She catches up with Tsubasa and embraces him, having regained her personality and memories as Natsumi. Unbeknownst to the two, a heartbroken Tsuyoshi witnesses this and when Tsubasa sees him, he takes the man’s bride away from him, leaving the devastated Tsuyoshi alone in shock.
Natsumi is taken to Makoto Tanabe’s apartment, which Tsubasa is staying at to watch while Makoto and his girlfriend enjoy some romantic time elsewhere on a traveling adventure. Tsubasa tries to get answers about Natsumi’s disappearance from her, but her memories only go as far as before she was abducted and believes that he is rehearsing lines for a play when asked about her relationship with Tsuyoshi. She remembers that Tsubasa wanted to write a script for their next play, but Tsubasa says that doesn’t matter now and embraces her again.
Tsuyoshi awakens and stretches out of bed the next morning, seemingly fine as he comments on what a beautiful day it is.
The Noto trio are riding in a limo and under Sonoi’s orders, all are wearing formal attire for a “special place”. They arrive at an oden cart and stumble upon Taro, Shinichi and Haruka eating there and the owner asks them to scoot over to let his new customers have a place to sit,
The Noto, unfamiliar with human food, ask for a “round thing, a triangle and the rectangle”. Taro helps out by stating to the owner that they want an egg, a hanpen fish cake and fried fish. Sonoi exposits facts about oden, but Taro says that trivia isn’t required, one must simply enjoy food with their senses. Upon eating his oden and getting sauce for the egg from Taro, Sonoi is moved to tears, with the emotion expelling bits of Taro’s energy from him and Sonoi reverting back to his old self. Sonoi is enthusiastic about his meal, declaring it the best thing he has ever eaten. While Sononi and Sonoza are also enjoying the food they noticed that Sonoi is back to normal and they are overjoyed. Sonoi is confused about what they are so excited for, not remembering what happened when he was empowered by Taro’s energy.
Taro is encouraged to “say something cool”, but this results in another infamous bout of Taro’s honesty as he grades the owner’s oden as 32 points out of 100. Outraged, the oden cart owner is revealed to be Tokusoki and he runs off on a rampage. Both parties change and a four way battle ensues. Haruka fights Sonoza, the boys fight Sononi, and Taro and Sonoi have a competition to see who gets to Tokusoki first. Taro changes into his GolDon armor and after a bit of back and forth clashing with Sonoi, defeats Tokusoki using the Festival’s End finisher. While Sonoi was contained in the peach construct with Tokusoki, he manages to escape before the Omikoshi Phoenix can strike him. He orders Sonoza and Sononi to withdraw as Tokusoki becomes Tokusoking. Taro decides to test out his new power by having the Omikoshi Phoenix combine with Don Onitaijin to become GolDon Onitaijin.
Tsuyoshi and Shinichi complain that the new armor blocks their view, but Taro doesn’t care and wants them to focus on the fight. Tokusoking tries to sneak up and pee on GolDon Onitaijin’s leg, but gets smacked away by the new robot’s spear. Tokusoking then tries blasting GolDon Onitaijin with its finger guns, but the shiny new robot deploys a shield and Haruka uses a “Super Oni Kick” to knock back the ballistic dog. Taro then executes the new finisher; the DonBros Utopia, to purify Tokusoking. The owner returns to his cart, a bit confused but with a customer waiting to be served.
Tsuyoshi meets with Tsubasa at a bistro and has lunch with him, suddenly dropping his friendly demeanor and wanting his wife returned to him. Tsubasa decides to be blunt and tells Tsuyoshi that Miho is in reality Natsumi Kuramochi, his longtime girlfriend. Tsuyoshi refuses to believe this and starts to have a mental breakdown, thinking Tsubasa did something to Miho to make her act differently. He screams that his bride is his only reason for living. Tsubasa tries to be sympathetic, saying how sorry he is and he feels bad for hurting Tsuyoshi like this, but there is no Miho as she never existed. Tsuyoshi snaps, shouting that Tsubasa is so stupid and the police appear and successfully capture Tsubasa.
Tsuyoshi suddenly has a sadistic smile on his face, revealing that he tipped off the police to get rid of the man who stole his wife by reporting that the wanted criminal had kidnapped Miho. Tsubasa angrily calls Tsuyoshi a traitor as he is dragged away to the police station while Tsuyoshi grins at Tsubasa’s suffering.
The episode ends with Tsubasa in handcuffs at the station and is about to be interrogated by Inspector Yuriko Kitou…
