Seeing Tsubasa successfully evade the police, a woman named Mizuho offers to take him as her apprentice. She wants to steal the painting called "Secret", a masterpiece by the late genius painter, Takeo Aota. Mizuho's greed for the painting cause her to become Kagakuki, but she hesistates to attack people and stops moving. Tsubasa senses that something is going on decides to listen to Mizuho's story.
"Secret" is to be auctioned off, Tsubasa and Mizuho attend said auction to make a winning bid. However, Haruka and Tsuyoshi are also after "Secret".
Plot[]
The episode opens with Inu Brother assisting a Hitotsuki, Kagakuki, in stealing a painting. His Ranger comrades try to stop him, with a shootout between him, Haruka and Shinichi before Taro shows up behind him transforming into Don Momotaro. Tsuyoshi arrives and Taro demands an explanation from Tsubasa. The latter narrates that he is forced to fight his comrades, who he doesn’t even know that well, and decides to explain what led to this to the audience as he prepares to shoot Don Momotaro.
Earlier, Tsubasa was forced to flee from the cops after eating lunch and gets in a struggle when they try to grab him. A woman with a white parasol sees this and looks at her phone to identify Tsubasa as a wanted criminal.
After giving the officers the slip, Tsubasa overhears that Detective Sayama resigned from the force from the officers. Once they leave, he emerges from underneath a bridge and is confronted by the woman. The woman, named Mizuho Ijuin, has an unusual request, she wishes to be a criminal and wants Tsubasa to teach her. She even offers to pay him for lessons, but Tsubasa isn’t interested and off put by this. Mizuho responds by crying out for help to alert the police, so Tsubasa is forced to hear out her request.
They talk over coffee and Tsubasa learns that Mizuho wants to be a “phantom thief“, with her even showing off her custom calling card she plans on leaving at crime scenes and fantasizing her daring capers. Tsubasa rightfully points out what she describes only happens in the movies and on television, a person doing that in the real world will get caught, even pointing to the fact her card has her name on it.
Mizuho finds that fact very interesting, but an irritated Tsubasa says he is innocent of his crimes and not a thief and tries again to leave Mizuho. Disappointed, she produces a megaphone from her purse and loudly announces that a dangerous criminal is in the area, forcing Tsubasa to go along with her plans. She plans on stealing a painting from the collection of the late Takeo Aota, his greatest masterpiece, “Secret”. Tsubasa tries to inquire exactly why she wants it, but Mizuho’s greed and desire surge within her and she becomes a Hitotsuki, Kagakuki. At first, Tsubasa prepares to fight her, but is surprised when Mizuho resists the urge to attack people and stops herself.
She later explains to Tsubasa that Secret was a portrait of her, originally a gift from Takeo, who was her boyfriend. It was the last painting he ever made before he died. Tsubasa understands Mizuho’s feelings but doesn’t condone her stealing it. Mizuho says that she was supposed to get the painting as part of Takeo’s will, but someone broke into his studio and stole it. Tsubasa asks where the painting is now but she doesn’t know and her desire triggers another aura to become Kagakuki but Mizuho surprisingly stops and resists transforming. She gets a notification on her phone that Secret is being put up for auction. She is relieved and thinks she doesn’t have to steal it now, revealing she is actually very rich.
Kaito talks with Haruka and Shinichi at Cafe Donbura about Secret, desiring to own the painting to decorate the cafe. Shinichi inquires what they are supposed to do, with Kaito asking them to go to the auction and make the winning bid. He also reveals that he has more than enough to cover the cost.
At the auction later that day, both parties attend to obtain the painting. A third party also attends with Tsuyoshi nervous about being in an auction as his boss Yamada and him are here to bid on behalf of the president of Pheasant Consultant, who wants Secret for his private collection. The starting bid is ¥3,000,000 but quickly rises as the bidders try to outdo each other’s offers. Yamada is ordered over the phone to bid ¥4.5 million, with Kaito unable to tell Haruka over her phone to bid higher. Mizuho bids ¥5 million but Tsubasa fumbles the announcement of said bid. She reminisces about her boyfriend and the love he had for her when modeling for the painting. She snaps out of it when bidding goes past ¥5.5 million and attempts to bid ¥6 million, only for Tsuyoshi to get fired up about bidding and bids ¥6.5 million, much to Yamada’s shock. Kaito is still not answering for a bid and after remembering more of her time with Takeo, Mizuho bids ¥8 million. Kaito finally makes a bid…of 9 million kibi dango, bewildering everyone in the room.
Mizuho remembers more about Takeo and their relationship together, how her love inspired him and misses on Tsuyoshi aggressively bidding up to ¥12 million until Yamada stops him as if he bids any higher their boss will get angry and fire them both. Tsubasa wonders if he and Mizuho should quit, but she is determined to get her painting and bids ¥50 million. Nobody else has the money to bid higher so she is the winning bid for Secret.
Mizuho soon discovers that the person in possession of Secret was her boyfriend’s assistant, Sano. He flirts with her and then asks for his money, Haruka makes one last attempt to bid…100 million kibi dango, but is ignored and told to stop by Shinichi. Sano soon discovers the money in Mizuho’s bag is nothing but stacks of blank paper as she transforms into Kagakuki and steals the painting, dragging along Tsubasa through an invisible door. Shinichi and Haruka give chase in their Ranger forms but immediately lose them.
Back at Mizuho’s home, the two discover that the painting is a forgery made by Sano. His plan was to con the highest bidder into buying the fake he painted while he kept the real painting. Now knowing who stole her beloved’s last art piece, Mizuho comes up with a plan to get the real painting back…
Sano hires Shinichi and Haruka to guard the real painting at his home, having received Mizuho’s phantom thief note threatening to take away Secret. He lies about the forgery, saying he placed it at the auction by mistake. He is taken aback by Haruka’s beauty and asks her to model for his next painting.
She accepts and later is in a sundress trying to keep a balloon inflated in her mouth while holding completely still, while Shinichi is guarding the painting and falls asleep. Kagakuki enters quietly through an invisible door and seemingly takes the painting with ease, only for Shinichi to reveal he was pretending to nap and tries to stop her as Saru Brother, but Tsubasa as Inu Brother kicks him into the couch and the two escape. Shinichi is surprised that his comrade would be an accomplice to a Hitotsuki and informs Haruka that they need to leave. Haruka tries to mumble that she isn’t supposed to move but he removes the balloon from her mouth and she becomes Oni Sister offscreen.
The scene from the opening replays, bringing viewers to the present events with Tsubasa’s fellow Rangers accusing him of being a traitor. Tsubasa tells Kagakuki to go on ahead and he will create an opportunity to help her get away. He tries to explain that Mizuho can revert back to normal and they just need time. Taro refuses to listen, as a Hitotsuki cannot be left alone to cause chaos.
Tsubasa uses his shuriken and DonBlaster to keep the others at bay while Kagakuki tries to escape. Shinichi manages to get by when Haruka’s club blocks the shuriken and he swipes the painting from Kagakuki, which causes her to have an emotional meltdown and her Hitotsuki destructive impulses overtake her rational self. She begins attacking the Donbrothers wildly and despite Tsubasa grabbing the painting and trying to calm her, Kagakuki continues to rampage. Jiro arrives to help, but his Dangerous personality forcefully takes over and becomes Don Torabolt. Getting competitive with Taro, he inadvertently helps him defeat Kagakuki with a combination attack. Kagakuki becomes Kagakuking, Tsubasa realizes now that this could not have been avoided but asks Taro to help save Mizuho, with Don Onitaijin and Toradoragonjin forming.
Taro proposes that everyone combines their strength into one. Dangerous Jiro absolutely refuses such a proposal but gets smacked in the face with Don Onitaijin’s fan and told that even rivals must unite their strengths for the greater good. Jiro and Taro connect their DonBlaster and Ryukonogeki to activate a super combined robot called Toradora Onitaijin. Riding atop a virtual steed, the team uses a variety of new attacks to weaken Kagakuking and finish her off with their new ultimate attack: The DonBros Fantasia.
Upon being purified, Mizuho has retrieved Secret and has one last thing to do…
She sets up a bonfire and tosses the painting into the flames. Tsubasa wonders why Mizuho did that, with her revealing it was Takeo’s last request: he considered Secret a failure and asked that if he died, Mizuho would destroy it. Tsubasa understands but sees it differently, Takeo loved Mizuho so much that he could not fully capture his expression of those feelings in his art. That overwhelming expression of love is the true “secret” of Takeo himself. Mizuho cries and smiles, saying he was such a fool, she already knew how much he loved her a long time ago.
At Cafe Donbura, Haruka has arrived with a painting for Kaito. He at first is overjoyed and thinks that Haruka changed the auctioneer’s mind and obtained Secret, but the painting is Haruka’s portrait done by Sano, with her having an abnormal balloon face in the picture. Kaito is repulsed by the hideous artwork and politely refuses the offer to hang it in the cafe, walking quickly to the back room. Haruka is still proud of her painting and decides to keep it, ending the episode.
