Don 26: Finale Forward Step-Out (フィナーレいさみあし Fināre Isamiashi) is the twenty-sixth episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. The episode serves as a clipshow recap of the first half of the series.
Synopsis[]
After watching the final episode of Kamen Rider Revice, Kaito suggests that Donbrothers should also end. To commemorate the final episode, they decide on an MVP and the winner will receive a wonderful prize. The Donbrothers show off their achievements in order to become the Donbrothers MVP. Who will win at the end and be declared as the team MVP?
Plot[]
The standard recap is replaced with footage of the final episode of Revice, with Kaito narrating his thoughts on what a wonderful, bittersweet ending Ikki Igarashi had for his story. He turns the TV off and decides to end the Donbrothers!
The team is confused as to why, Haruka reminded Kaito of the stipulation that they remain Rangers until they collect enough Kibi-Points or defeat their evil foes for good. Kaito thinks at this rate their battle will never end, Shinichi realizes that he maybe correct as Hitotsuki are formed from human greed and desire and as long as humanity exists, those two things will exist. Kaito has decided that this will be their finale then and he will choose an MVP, whoever is chosen will receive a special prize.
Haruka makes her case as to why she should be MVP, she works hard at school, the cafe and as a hero. She recaps her origin as Oni Sister and how she lost her manga career, but also how Sonoza being a fan of her work has reinvigorated her desire to create. She hopes to one day make a manga that reaches his heart.
Shinichi makes his testimony, believing he should be MVP because fighting is something that goes against his zen philosophy of wabisabi, but he does so anyway. He recaps how he found his power and how he helped people even before obtaining it. He recalls meeting his predecessor Shirai, who asked what his reasoning was for his selfless actions. Shinichi didn’t have an exact answer at the time, but after reminiscing, he believes he has always had the natural potential to be a hero within him.
Tsuyoshi is next, who says that maybe he became Kiji Brother because deep down he always wished to be someone else who was good at something instead of being mediocre at everything. He speak of how his wife Miho makes him determined to be stronger. He then humbly passes the conversation to the next person.
Tsubasa is not present nor has he ever revealed his identity to the team, so Shinichi decides to skip his testimony. Haruka thinks that is a bit mean and Inu Brother deserves a chance.
Somewhere in the city, Sononi surprisingly breaks the fourth wall, deciding to make Tsubasa’s testimony in his stead even though they are enemies. She recaps his tragic story of losing Natsumi but Tsubasa takes over the narration and speaks about how he is now a fugitive. He feels that he should be MVP because he is contributing to society despite being branded as a criminal. He also speaks of Detective Sayama and Sononi reveals she knows the detective is now a Juto.
Back at Cafe Donbura, Haruka thinks whoever Inu Brother is, he must have a difficult life. Shinichi knows Taro is next and calls him a self righteous, overbearing individual who cares little about the hardships that they face in life. Tsuyoshi is more kind about Taro, saying he is just unique and that is just the way he is.
Shinichi believes even if Taro is number one in strength and leadership, he still has flaws that will not make him MVP. Taro exposits that he can fight monsters on his own with the ZanglaSword and DonZenkaiOh and Alter Changes. But he admits that he needs help as Don Momotaro and his companions make him even stronger, with them, he can become Don Onitaijin.
Shinichi thinks that Don Onitaijin could be MVP until Tsuyoshi points out that the robot is all five of them combined so it would not count. Haruka thinks that means that they all are the MVPs until Shinichi remembers that they just act as armor and limb extensions for Taro in that form. Sonoi surprises everyone by appearing in the cafe, stating that Jiro is also a possible candidate for he may have a connection to the Don Clan.
Jiro makes his testimony, recapping his origins, his determination to be a hero, and all that has happened so far with him. He recalls when his Dangerous personality emerged and despite the difficulties that brought, he managed to work alongside his wild alter ego to become Toradoragonjin.
Sonoi says despite that, Don Momotaro is still his one true rival and leaves the cafe.
Kaito then prepares to announce the winner, revealing it to be… himself. He explains that the heroes he has watched over have only defended the world for six months while he is a veteran who has fought for almost two years, with footage of Zenkaiger playing as Kaito reveals in another life he was Zenkaizer. Now he tends to Cafe Donbura and as MVP, he wants to share the grand prize with everyone. The team is at first appreciative of the gift, until they open the wrapping and reveal that they are being given Kaito’s second photo album book; Secret Identity. They all make excuses for not wanting them and leave.
Sonoza is eating ice cream in the cafe and is disappointed that their enemies are not disbanding, as he and Sonoi came all the way from Ideon to witness the end of the show. Sonoi is more satisfied that the team isn’t going to quit as he vows when he sees Taro next time… they will fight, as he childishly blows bubbles into his drink.
