Don 25: Hero-Worker (ヒーローしごとにん Hīrō Shigoto Nin) is the twenty-fifth episode of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. It features the final appearances of Don Doragoku Alter and the Ninninger Alter.
Synopsis[]
Tsuyoshi is in charge of a store whose performance is deteriorating. Because of this, he is fired by his boss, Yamada. Unable to tell his wife Miho about it, he begins working hard on part-time jobs to make ends meet. While working, the Hitosuki, Daiki appears. Tsuyoshi, who is exhausted from not being used to hard work, is unable to fight and lets Daiki escape. Taro, who heard from Tsuyoshi that he was not feeling well and "I can't turn my neck," misunderstood.
Plot[]
Tsuyoshi is racing to the scene of what seems to be an emergency, going into a bathroom to change. He narrates that today he will transform his life… emerging depressed as he wears a construction worker’s uniform. He then tells the audience that he should probably explain what happened to him recently…
Days ago at Pheasant Consultant, Tsuyoshi was sent to the office of his boss Yamada, who fires him for his lackluster efforts to salvage a restaurant’s sales revenue. In fact, Tsuyoshi’s advice seems to have sent the business into near bankruptcy. The President of Pheasant Consultant chewed out Yamada for having a poor-performing subordinate in sales of their consultation services. Tsuyoshi is scared of his boss yelling at him and mortified that he is now unemployed.
Upon returning home, Tsuyoshi is too ashamed to tell Miho he got canned and pretends everything is fine as he eats the lunch she made. Miho suggests that the two of them go on a trip together when he gets time off work, Tsuyoshi agrees and tries to say he will quit if his job doesn’t give him time off as a way to avoid being found out. Miho says that isn’t necessary as she knows his job takes priority as he awkwardly smiles at her.
Tsuyoshi sulks about his situation in the park, as he has a mortgage loan to pay off on the apartment plus Miho’s trip will cost money and no job means no more cash. Getting a new job is difficult in Tokyo as it is, but Tsuyoshi doesn’t have any specialized skills that would make companies want to hire him… except being a Donbrother. This gives Tsuyoshi an idea and he heads to Cafe Donbura.
Upon arriving, he demands Kaito pay him compensation for his services as a superhero. Kaito refuses as heroism has always been, at its core, an altruistic concept rooted in charity. In other words, it is unpaid volunteer work.
Tsuyoshi consults Jin next, but he forces him out of his cell upon hearing such a request. (Especially since a prisoner would not have access to money)
So Tsuyoshi flash forwards to the present and narrates that is what has happened so far as he struggles to lift debris into a wheelbarrow at a work site and ends up spilling his payload on the ground. His new boss yells at him for his clumsiness and Tsuyoshi apologizes.
Back at Pheasant Consultant, Yamada exits the President’s office and is dreading the possibility that he could be next in line to be terminated from his job. Already overworked and lacking capable employees as well as the traumatic verbal lashing he just received from the president sends Yamada over the edge as he desires help at his company. In a fit of stress induced insanity, he becomes Daiki in his quest to find dependable workers.
Daiki kidnaps some children to turn into his employees, with the Donbrothers teleporting to the scene, though Taro is momentarily distracted as he was making a delivery before being teleported. Taro sees Daiki twirling his ribbon and encourages the team to dance, but Tsuyoshi is too exhausted from a day of hard manual labor and trips over his own feet, falling flat on his face. Everyone goes to check on him and Taro tells him to get it together, giving Daiki a chance to escape.
Taro sits down with Tsuyoshi to find out why he wasn’t doing his best in battle. Tsuyoshi tries to explain that he has been working too hard and its “always some other problem” in his life and there’s no future if things don’t change, and that it is a “real pain in the neck”.
Due to Tsuyoshi not speaking clearly and mumbling some of the conversation, Taro misunderstood, hearing that “someone’s mother” has a severe neck injury and she will suffer some cruel fate if Tsuyoshi doesn’t raise money for her. He decides to help Tsuyoshi and sets off to do so, despite the latter trying to tell him he can handle this on his own.
The next day, Haruka is walking home from school and sees Taro race past her carrying a stack of dumpling boxes. She jogs alongside him, asking if he changed jobs, Taro says it is his day off and explains what he thinks is Tsuyoshi’s problem, so he took on the food delivery job to get more money to help the mother so she doesn’t die. Haruka decides to do what she can to help as well.
The next day, Haruka has taken on a street vendor job selling popcorn near the river. Shinichi walks nearby on the bridge and recognizes her, watching her trip and accidentally spill popcorn on a customer. Haruka explains what Taro told her and that the poor mother must need a complicated surgery to require such a large sum of cash. Shinichi admires her charity and offers to help, but she says she will be fine and points out Shinichi has never had a job in his life and money burns his skin as she returns to work.
Shinichi feels a bit of shame upon those remarks and decides to do the unthinkable; seek out employment.
Shinichi decides to go to job interviews for teaching Japanese, but none of the college prep schools will hire him due to having no previous job experience.
Shinichi then tries selling his haikus as a street vendor, managing to sell one to a little girl, but her ¥10 coin burns his hand upon touching it.
Back at Pheasant Consultant, Tsuyoshi is brought back into Yamada’s office, being forced to pay damages to the owner of the failing restaurant because of an invoice sent to the company on his lost sales. Tsuyoshi is naturally upset that things are getting worse for him and leaves worrying about how he can pay the owner. Infuriated about the invoice, Yamada again desires to find capable employees and turns into Daiki again.
At Cafe Donbura, Taro asks Tsuyoshi how he’s doing and Tsuyoshi answers things are getting worse and he is being bled dry, death would be preferable to what he is dealing with right now. He needs to take on more jobs to get more money. Taro thinks that is a tough situation and once again misinterpreted what Tsuyoshi is saying and goes to help more.
Haruka and Taro go to a ramen cart for lunch, one that Tsuyoshi so happens to be working at. Too embarrassed to be seen, Tsuyoshi quickly puts on a disguise of a seaweed mustache and beard and covers his eyes with narutomaki. He hears Taro’s conversation about the mother, thinking that the “bled dry” comment was about anemia and the mother is on death’s door. Haruka thinks that means that the mother must have a rare blood type required for transfusion. While Taro doesn’t know the specifics, he is going to take on more jobs to help.
Tsuyoshi serves them their ramen, but Taro notices the narutomaki and asks what is wrong with the ramen vendor’s eyes. Haruka wonders too as they are all “swirly”, Tsuyoshi puts on a gruff voice and says he works so hard he is feeling a bit dizzy. Both finish their meal and thank the disguised Tsuyoshi, with Taro giving a generous 32 points out of 100 on his meal.
Tsuyoshi misunderstood Taro’s misunderstanding and beats himself up over the poor mother, deciding to help out his friends by working even harder for them. Jiro is following Taro from a distance and wonders what everyone is doing. He decides to investigate without being noticed by changing into his Alter form. He sees Taro making evening deliveries of soba noodles, Haruka handing out tissues and coupons for a business on the street, Tsuyoshi directing traffic and Shinichi is still selling haikus while also wearing oven mitts.
Jiro then learns by observing all of them that they are helping someone who is sick and watches them all support each other and work tirelessly through various jobs until dawn. The group is exhausted but rest up and get back to it the next day. Moved by their selfless cause, Jiro decides to help out as well, but Dangerous Jiro pulls out of his body and warns him not to let the group “assimilate him” as it will make Jiro weak.
At Ristorante Bambus, Tsubasa’s current workplace, the Donbrothers gather by coincidence to apply for work, despite them all barely being able to stand from overworking. Tsubasa informs them that the restaurant is going out of business soon from bad sales. Tsuyoshi realizes that this is the very restaurant that he failed to save and after explaining to the others and asking for help to save the restaurant, the misunderstanding about the mother is cleared up.
Taro admits he made a mistake and rallies everyone to help the restaurant. Tsubasa is confident he can help save the establishment with his excellent cooking skills. Taro splits up everyone to tackle different tasks: he and Tsubasa work in the kitchen, Tsuyoshi as Kiji Brother flies around the city passing around fliers advertising the restaurant’s “Festival Campaign”, Shinichi entertains the kids as Saru Brother and Haruka waits tables as Oni Sister. The strategy works as customers line up outside around the block.
Taro then does a special “big service” version of his entrance to entertain guests and his group of miko help Haruka with table service. Taro offers the patrons free all you can eat dessert and sings to the customers.
Elsewhere, Daiki “recruits” more people until Jiro shows up, who wants the others to finish what they are doing and vows to take Daiki down by himself. He manages a few hits as Don Doragoku until the Noto Trio gang up on him to interfere. Dangerous Jiro takes over Jiro’s body as Don Torabolt to fight but Sonoza and Sononi hold him back so Sonoi can exterminate Daiki.
Taro arrives just in time to block Sonoi’s sword strike meant for Daiki and blasts him back with the Sharp Acute Slash. Taro’s praise of Jiro’s efforts to hold his own in a fight snaps Jiro back to normal and he reverts to Don Doragoku. The duo engage all three generals and push them back, with Sonoi eventually ordering a withdrawal from the battle. Daiki tries to sneak away but Taro notices him and the Hitotsuki is finished off with a combination attack.
Daiki becomes Daiking and Dangerous Jiro comes out when Taro attempts to fight it, aggressively claiming that he alone will defeat the giant Hitotsuki. Jiro drags his other half away pleading for him to focus on the fight ahead. Both change into their Robotaro forms and after a brief struggle with Robobolt, into Toradoragonjin. Daiking proves to be a tough opponent, with his use of the ribbon yanking away Toradoragonjin’s sword and tripping up the robot. Jiro tricks Daiking into a distraction and then after using a cube for an improvised projectile, finishes Daiking with the Jiro’s Hurricane. The purified Yamada wakes up in an alley, confused as to where he is and how he got there.
At Pheasant Consultant, Tsuyoshi is surprised and relieved to hear that he is keeping his job. Yamada got a call from the owner of Ristorante Bambus, who canceled the invoice and praised Tsuyoshi for his efforts to make up for his mistakes, as his sales are booming better than ever before. Yamada praises Tsuyoshi and encourages him to keep up the good work and everyone else in the office agrees. Yamada is counting on Tsuyoshi to keep being dependable, with Tsuyoshi joyfully shaking hands with his boss and promising to do his best. The two hug and cheer, but Haruka narrates that maybe the two get along so well now because they are former Hitotsuki. Tsuyoshi breaks the fourth wall, telling Haruka to knock it off and everybody probably forgot all about that by now.
Haruka ends the episode by narrating that the audience definitely did not forget about that.

- The date shown on the calendar in Café Donbura when Tsuyoshi talks to Taro is Saturday, August 20, one day before the episode's airdate.
- With the Hitotsuki of the week being Goggle-V themed, references are made to that show in the episode. At one point during the first fight “Stop the Battle” is uttered by Daiki.
- When Tsuyoshi is at his job directing traffic, he says “traffic safety” repeatedly, something that for reasons unknown to Jiro “makes him nervous”. This is a comical callback to the Gekisouki incident in episodes 14 and 15.
