Diane Kawaguchi Martin (ダイアン・川口・マーチン Daian Kawaguchi Māchin)[1][2] is a retired Japan-based American actress and model who portrayed Diane Martin/Miss America in Battle Fever J.

Biography[]

Martin was born on December 19, 1961, in the United Statesto a Japanese mother and an American father. When she was 12, she moved to Japan as a result of her father's work and attended the American School in Japan. After graduating, she debuted as a model. Originally, she modeled as a campaign girl for Tokyo Dome City, which was a sponsor for the Super Sentai series.[3] The producer at the time Ryonori Watanabe, wanted to cast a beautiful American woman in the role of Miss America as to capitalize on the popularity of Agnes Lum in Japan, who herself was American. As a result, Martin was cast and her character was named after her. However, Martin was not fluent in Japanese, thus her lines were dubbed over by Lisa Komaki. Her cast members later stated that Martin spoke broken Japanese in a low voice and communicated in romaji for most of the time. Martin later quit after 24 episodes due to being unable to keep up with filming.

As of now, Battle Fever J serves to be her only drama credit.
