The Space Patrol Delta Base Headquarters, also known as S.P.D. Delta Base and Delta Base Headquarters or simply Delta Base is a command post for Earth's S.P.D. Academy and the Power Rangers assigned to this branch.

It is used for the containment of alien suspects that would destroy or conquer Earth on their own or for the Troobian Empire; it is once shown to also be capable of withstanding massive punishment and firing an electrical blast. The Delta Base is able to carry many of the Zords belonging to the B-Squad.

Appearances: S.P.D. Episodes 1-38

Located in Newtech City, the Delta Base is the primary operations center for S.P.D.'s Earth branch. Located within its walls are the Command Center, Kat Manx's labs, officers' quarters, an onsite prison block, upper-level offices accessible by escalator, training center with simudeck, and vehicle bays for the Delta Runners and the Omegamax Cycle, later adding bays for the S.W.A.T. Flyers. Many areas are accessed by voice command of credentialed S.P.D. officers and designated support staff.

During the upper third of the series, Delta Base remained as a fixture of the city's downtown core and was not known to possess offensive or defensive capability. The base would eventually become the target of several attacks by Emperor Gruumm and the Troobians; to prepare for such assaults, Kat began work on the Delta Base Defense System (D.B.D.S.). It was soon found that no human or alien could adequately perform the complex programming required to engage D.B.D.S. in time to face a sustained attack from Gruumm's forces. S.P.D. had the tool it needed, a cadet in training named S.O.P.H.I.E. on D-Squad. A "cyborg" operating in secret, she showed extraordinary ability in simulation training. She was particularly curious and hacked into the Command Center to activate Phase 1 of the defense system, which beat back General Valko with its cannons. One night, S.O.P.H.I.E. was self-adjusting while her trainers in B-Squad paid a visit and, citing the police agency's rulebook, expelled S.O.P.H.I.E. forthwith.

B-Squad would soon after learn of their error when Valko abducted SOPHIE and deployed Goradon to destroy them. SOPHIE was tortured and forced to control the beast, struggling mightily to break free. She seized on a small window of opportunity given while Valko was battling the Rangers, projecting a hypersonic scream for Anubis Cruger to locate her. When she was recovered, Cruger and his squad needed additional support to enable Phase 2 of D.B.D.S. After a brief conference, SOPHIE was ready and willing to work, linking herself with the Command Center to activate the mammoth Delta Command Megazord. Its first test against Goradon ended in a major victory for the Rangers, with Valko contained by Cruger moments before.

Because the transformation takes considerable time and effort the Delta Command mode was only used in the most extraordinary of circumstances. Although it was severely damaged in the final clashes with the Troobians, it would be rebuilt in the years following.

Delta Command Crawler[]

The base initiates Phase One of its Delta Base Defense System or D.B.D.S. by having its top half fold over and transform it into the roving Delta Command Crawler capable of traversing the globe. This vehicle is equipped with two powerful Photon Beams mounted on its back. It acts as Anubis Cruger's personal Zord and a Carrierzord, giving it the ability to transport and deploy the Delta Runners, Omegamax Cycle and S.W.A.T. Flyers. It also is the first phase to make the Delta Command Megazord.

Delta Command Megazord[]

The Delta Command Megazord or Delta Base Robot is Phase Two of the D.B.D.S. and one of the largest Megazords to exist being at least twice the size of the Delta Squad Megazord. It is formed after initiating a Lockdown following the retreat of all present S.P.D. members into the base's Safe Zone; the base then stands upright to complete its transformation.

The Megazord can fire Finger Lasers as well as Super Crime Scene Tape from its fingertips along with Photon Beams from its knees. Its finishing attack Full Power is an energy wave from the panels on its chest. It is usually only piloted by Cruger but has control stations for the B-Squad and Sam. It once used the S.W.A.T. Megazord as a handheld weapon with the support of the Delta Squad and Omegamax Megazords while fighting the second Dragoul.

The Megazord's fingers also have Entry Chutes for other Rangers; when it made its debut, the Megazord plugged its hand into Delta Squad Megazord's back, allowing B-Squad to run up through the fingers to the new Megazord's cockpit.

The Megazord mode has been piloted by the enemy on a few occasions:

  • When Wootox was brought in for questioning, he escaped S.P.D. custody by using his ability to change bodies with Schuyler Tate in order to transform the base into the Megazord. As Wootox attempted to fire its weaponry at Newtech City, he was stopped by Sky and dragged out of the cockpit to battle him outside the base.
  • When Broodwing took advantage of Cruger's kidnapping to Emperor Gruumm by the rogue A-Squad Rangers, he and his forces, along with his own Generals, invaded the Delta Base and activated the Megazord as part of his plan to destroy Newtech City, but its power system was disabled by Kat Manx after Boom whistled for R.I.C. to free them.
