- "Your communicators won’t work here."
- ―Goldar
The Dark Dimension is a special prison in another dimension, commonly used by Rita Repulsa. It is primarily used to imprison any of the Ranger teens or, in some cases, their loved ones. It blocks the Power Rangers communicators, but not their teleportation unit (though this was probably done in order to lure the other Rangers into the trap) or Power Morphers. Entering and exiting the Dark Dimension can only be done through teleportation.
The Dark Dimension appears to be a circular room without any visible exists. The room features multiple archways, which are blocked off by electrified bars. Behind these bars, there appears to be nothing but a dark void.
Mighty Morphin[]
The Dark Dimension first appears when Tommy, as the Evil Green Ranger, abducts Jason. Jason is placed inside this prison and forced to fight Goldar, who tries to kill him. After a while, Goldar is replaced by Tommy, who almost struck the final blow. Just in time, Billy managed to connect to Jasons communicator and teleported him out of the Dark Dimension. As punishment for failing to kill Jason, Rita kept Tommy imprisoned in the Dark Dimension until he was called into battle. TV STORY-Green With Evil
The Dark Dimension was later used to house the Green Candle. Goldar kidnaps Tommy and forces him to watch as the Green Candle slowly burns out. Tommy escapes the Dark Dimension by using Goldar's sword. Jason later enters the Dark Dimension in order to retrieve the Candle, but is unsuccessful. TV STORY-The Green Candle
After Dramole kidnaps the Rangers' parents and all the other patrons of the Youth Center on Parents' Day, Rita holds them prisoner inside the Dark Dimension. After Dramole is destroyed, the prisoners are teleported back to the Youth Center. TV STORY-Return of an Old Friend
In a plot to steal their powers, Lord Zedd kidnaps four of the Power Rangers, namely Trini, Zack Billy and Kimberly and imprisons them in the Dark Dimension. Inspired by Rita's plan with the Green Candle, he uses four candles to drain their powers. Jason teleports into the Dark Dimension and frees them. TV STORY-Missing Green
When Rita creates an evil clone of Billy, she imprisons the real one in the Dark Dimension, restraining him with a forcefield. Billy breaks the forcefield by redirecting its beam using a reflective disk. After Billy breaks free from the forcefield, Zordon and Alpha locate him and teleport him out of the Dark Dimension. Boom! Comics[]
The Dark Dimension later makes an appearance in the Boom! Studios comics, when Goldar is imprisoned here by Rita for disobeying her one too many times. When Lady Fienna and the Phantom Ranger ruined Master Vile plans to turn Rita into a Vessel for Dark Specter, he swore to turn the station into a prison that would put the Dark Dimension to shame till he was informed that the station was going to explode. Dino Fury[]
A dimension with the exact same name is where Reaghoul sends a sleepy cuffed Dr. Akana and an unsuspecting Mucus and Slyther into. Zayto arrives into the dimension using the T-Rex Cosmic Megazord, fighting Reaghoul and destroys him with the Cosmic Gateway Strike. Zayto retrieves Dr. Akana and heads back to Earth leaving Mucus and Slyther behind in the dimension. TV STORY-Void Trap
