D-Squad is the lowest rank of cadet at S.P.D.. Sophie was a member until the Rangers found out she was a cyborg, a victim of General Valko.
In his attempt to ask Kat Manx when he and his fellow B-Squad cadets would become Rangers like the A-Squad, Bridge Carson clarified that he was not insinuating that there was anything wrong with being B-Squad, or indeed C-Squad or D-Squad. 
TV STORY-Beginnings
Chiding himself for allowing Mirloc to escape by manipulating his emotions, Sky Tate raged that he should be demoted back to D-Squad, but Jack Landors convinced him otherwise.
TV STORY-Reflection
B-Squad was temporarily "demoted" to D-Squad by Sergeant Silverback because of their inability to work together as a team and were put through hard training until they overcame their differences and passed their S.W.A.T training. TV STORY-S.W.A.T.
