Witch Bandora
Rita Repulsa

Differences[]

Bandora Rita
Bandora is the former queen of the Dahl Tribe in ancient times. She was born on earth. Rita is an alien witch who had been waging a war with Zordon since ancient times.
Bandora sold her soul to Satan for magic powers after her son was killed by dinosaurs. Naturally inherited her powers. How she met Lokar is unclear.
Dai Satan is her master. Lokar was her most powerful minion.
Parents were neither seen nor referenced. Father was Master Vile but her mother remains unknown. In the comics, it was a being called Lady Fienna but the comics are not considered cannon to the TV series.
Bandora was originally sealed away for 170 million years Rita was originally sealed away for 10,000 years
Bandora has a motherly demeanor towards her henchmen, complimenting them when they succeed on missions. Rita is always in a bad mood and treats her henchmen with disdain, constantly insulting them.
Bandora spoke with the voice of a kind elderly lady. Rita spoke with a screeching voice, sounding like a witch.
Bandora had a son named Kai, who looked human. Rita had a son named Thrax, who looked monstrous.
Never met Lieutenant Colonel Shadam. Master was Lord Zedd who she later married.
Overall goal was to destroy the Dinosaur Eggs. Doing so would render the Zyurangers and their Guardian Beasts powerless, allowing Dai Satan to rule the world. Overall goal was to conquer the world and destroy the Power Rangers. The Power Eggs were only a factor in one episode and she only brought Lokar to Earth for her own benefit instead of being for his alone.
Wanted to kill the Guardian Beasts because they could form Ultimate Daizyuzin which was the only thing capable of destroying her master. Wanted to destroy the Dinozords because they aided the Rangers in thwarting her schemes and destroying them would let her kill the six.
Mastermind behind the schemes of Dora Pixie and Dora Silkys. Lami and Grifforzer were merely aiding the former and the latter was the pet of Lami. Had no involvement in the fights against Babe Ruthless and Weaveworm since she was ill so Scorpina and Goldar temporarily took command in her stead.
Command to make her monsters grow was “evil spirits that sleep within the Earth, grant your power to Dora (monster name.)” For Grifforzer and Lami, she chanted “O, spirits that dwell in the depths of the Earth…bestow your power upon Lami/Griforizer.” Command to grow monsters was "magic wand, make my monster grow" with "monster" being swapped out for Scorpina or Goldar when she grew them.
Always the same two commands for growing monsters. Occasionally switched out her catchphrase in the earlier episodes like "Teamwork" and "I, Eye Guy."
Bandora was responsible for the dinosaurs' extinction. Rita played no part in the extinction of dinosaurs.
Bandora was defeated by losing her magic after crying for the loss of her son as witches aren't allowed to show tears. She and her minions were sealed inside an urn and send into space. Rita was defeated after being hit by Zordon's Energy Wave, purging her from evil and turning her into a human.
Bandora redeemed herself by rediscovering her love for children with the death of her son and the subsequent birth of Lami and Grifforzer's baby. Rita redeemed by the energy surge emitted with the death of Zordon.
Bandora completely lost her magic after her redemption. Rita retained her powers after being purified.
Is a completely different character than Heavenly Arch Saint Magiel (although Machiko Soga played both characters). Rita became the high-mage of magic as "Mystic Mother" and even helped the Mystic Force Rangers and HyperForce Rangers. Although Machiko Soga appeared the Sentai footage from Zyuranger for the first season, Carla Perez took the role in the second and third season but is voiced by Barbara Goodson.
Only encountered one Sixth Ranger in her lifetime, Burai. Sixth Rangers she encountered included Tommy (as Mighty Morphin Green and White), Trey of Triforia (the Gold Zeo Ranger), Jason Lee Scott (the second Gold Zeo Ranger) the Blue Senturion and Daggeron (albeit when she was a good person). Many more presumably preceeded Tommy.
Bandora only appeared in Zyuranger, making no appearances outside of that series. Rita appeared in almost every episode of all three Mighty Morphin Power Rangers seasons. Also made a few appearances in Zeo, Turbo the Turbo movie and In Space.
She never met Empress Hysteria or Beauty Zonnette. She met Queen Machina and Divatox.
Bandora holds no special distinction and left no big impact on the Super Sentai franchise as a whole. Rita is the first evil leader in Power Rangers. And also one of the most iconic villains of the entire Power Rangers franchise, still being popular many years after her final appearance on TV.
She never returned, not as a robot, nor was ever destroyed She returns as a robot, & is destroyed for good.
