This article is about a monster in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Kamen Rider Decade.

"What is it, old man? Do you want something?"
―Chinomanako's first words[src]

Chinomanako (チノマナコ) is a Mokumokuren-themed Ayakashi who transforms into a twisted version of Kamen Rider Diend called Chinomanako Diend Formation (チノマナコ・ディエンド変身態 Chinomanako Diendo Henshintai) by stealing Daiki Kaito's Diendriver.

History[]

He becomes an "Ayakashi Rakider" with his Chinomanako Diend Formation, this universe's (the Sentai universe) first ever Kamen Rider, in a world that was supposed to be without riders.

With all the crevices in the Diend helmet and armor, he can easily summon Nanashi Company. He also can use Kaijin Ride cards to summon past Kamen Rider monsters. Kamen Rider Decade and Kuuga team up with the Shinkengers to destroy this monster. After being destroyed, he did not become giant, implying that transforming took up his second life.

Chinomanako is revived in Super Hero Taisen as a member of the Shocker Zangyack Alliance. He only has one appearance, in the battle where he is seen getting attacked by Kamen Rider Amazon. TV STORY-Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen

Chinomanako as part of the Army of Resurrected Monsters in Super Hero Taisen Z

Chinomanako was part of an army of resurrected (mostly Super Sentai) monsters led by Space Raider after the revival of Madou Demon King Psycho. They proceeded to attack the gathering of Kamen Riders and Super Sentai, giving them a hard time. Chinomanako helped beat Kamen Rider OOO with Rhino Doubler and Action Commanders Stargull and Sneak Brother. The heroes of recent years were in a pinch until the arrival of a force of Sentai and Rider reinforcements led by Akarenger and Kamen Rider Ichigo. The combined forces of superheroes were able to turn the tide against the Madou army, with Chinomanako being beaten back by Kamen Rider Nigo. They lined up and used their various finisher attacks to destroy the revived monsters. TV STORY-Kamen Rider × Super Sentai × Space Sheriff: Super Hero Taisen Z

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Human World Travel: Chinomanako and other residents of Sanzu River can travel themselves into human world via narrow hole gaps.
  • Second Life: Chinomanako and other members of Gedoshu possessed a second life that granted them the chance to live again as a giant upon being defeated by Shinkengers. But after he utilizes the Diendriver, this ability was forsaken.
  • Weapon Corruption: Upon gaining a weapon, the weapon's power will be corrupted with most of its power bounded to Chinomanako and his Mokumokuren attributes. As shown, the weapon fires energy eyeballs instead of energy blasts and Diend's regular symbol was changed to fit his Rider Form.

  • Punching power: 6 t.
  • Kicking power: 8 t.
  • Maximum jump height: 30 m.
  • Maximum run speed: 100 m. per 5 sec.

Because of the arrival of Tsukasa and Daiki to his world, Chinomanako obtains the Diendriver, which he then uses to become an "Ayakashi Rakider" (アヤカシラカイダー Ayakashi Rakaidā) called Chinomanako Diend Formation (チノマナコ・ディエンド変身態 Chinomanako Diendo Henshintai). As a result, he no longer needs the waters of the Sanzu River to survive within the mortal realm at cost of not being able to revive as a giant.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Eyeball Projectiles: Chinomanako Diend can shoot energy eyeballs from the Diendriver.
  • Monster Summoning: Chinomanako Diend can summon monsters from other Kamen Rider series through the use of Kaijin Ride cards. In addition, Chinomanako Diend can also summon the Nanashi Company through the gaps in the design of Diend's armor.

Behind the Scenes[]

Portrayal[]

Chinomanako is voiced by Ryuzaburo Otomo (大友 龍三郎 Ōtomo Ryūzaburō).

Design[]

  • Chinomanako was designed by Tamotsu Shinohara (篠原 保 Shinohara Tamotsu), and is based on an eyeball and the yokai, Mokumokuren. According to legends, the Mokumokuren is a spirit that lives in torn paper sliding walls and has many eyes that can cause people to become blind if stared into. Chinomanako's ability to summon many eyes that also adorn his body seems to be the basis for this myth.

Concept Art[]

Etymology[]

  • Chinomanako's name roughly translates to "Thousand Eyes" (千の眼 chi no manako).
