The Yokai Army Corps (妖怪軍団 Yōkai Gundan, Apparition Army Corps) are the monstrous masters of ninpo (ninja arts) who draw their power from yoki (supernatural energy). They were the main antagonists of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger whose ultimate goal is to exterminate humanity and make the Earth into a Yokai paradise.

Group History[]

Past[]

Two millennia ago, the Yokai served under Daimaou and terrorized humans before he was sealed away behind the Seal Door by the three holy men that became the Three God Generals. As a result, the Yokai began acting on their own before they are united under Nurarihyon prior him their powers being sealed away 400 years ago by the Kakurangers' ancestors. The Yokai that escaped sealing changed their forms to keep up with the times, hiding as humans with some aspect of their true nature present. For centuries, the Yokai were either sealed away or inert and in hiding.

In 1994 however, Kappa is able to manipulate Sasuke and Saizou into opening the Seal Door which releases the Yokai powers and most of the captured Yokai. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 1: We Are Ninja

Free from the Seal Door, the Yokai congregate in an abandoned mansion which becomes their base of operations. They begin their return to return to power as Young Noble Junior begins uniting them under his banner while reviving Daimaou. When threatened with defeat, the Yokai are able to invoke negative human emotions they store within the clouds to infuse them with power. This power manifests as a bolt of lighting that enlarges the Yokai once struck.  Once destroyed, their spirit will ascend to the sky and self-destruct. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 2: A Dangerous Lady

Eventually, after the deaths of many Yokai, Gadashakuro rises the Seal Door to the surface of the Earth and use human fear to release his father. When Sandayuu Momochi attempts to fight him, Gashadokuro easily overwhelms him before fatally wounding him. Enraged, the Kakurangers vow to avenge their sensei by destroying Gashadokuro once and for all. In the following battle, in which he enlarges himself, Gashadokuro is finally killed by Super Kakure Daishogun Iron God Finish, returning the district to the ground and freeing all the petrified citizens. Despite this however, Daimaou is later revived by his son's demise and establishes the new Yokai base of operation; a giant flying skeletal castle with bat wings dubbed the Skeleton Castle. As such, the Yokai Mansion is all but abandoned. Amassing his forces and accompanied by his bodyguard Hakumenrou, Daimaou rallies his forces to fufil his goals in order to fulfil his goals; slaughter the Kakurangers and avenge Junior (though he admits to Hakumenrou that he wanted him dead anyway to prevent having an heir). In the middle of the Kakurangers' battle with the Yokai Army Corps, the Dorodoros are one of five groups of revived Foot Soldiers along with the Batzler Soldiers, Grinam Soldiers, Golem Soldiers and Cotpotros, which were summoned by Zaigan in Emperor Daidas' invasion of Earth. The evil army is wiped out by a gathering of five Super Sentai Teams: the Kakurangers, the Fivemen, the Jetmen, the Zyurangers, and the Dairangers. Tvicon TV STORY-Super Sentai World

Daimaou later declares the Time of Darkness, creating Daradara to act as his muscle to aid him in his ceremony. They successfully capture the Kakurangers in the Yokai Mansion which he temporarily reoccupies and uses their power to drown the world in darkness before Daradara is destroyed. Daimaou tries to continue to fight but is badly hurt by a combination of Super Muteki Shogun's Muteki Cannons Full Discharge and Super Kakure Daishogun's Iron Fist Finish and has to retreat. Since the Kakurangers now know about the Yokai Mansion, Daimaou abandons the location for good in favor of his Skeleton Castle. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 44: The Wound-Filled Great Reversal

After his brother and sister are killed, Daimaou is the only Yokai left to deal with the Kakurangers. Daimaou tries to perform a suicide attack upon the team by crashing the Skeleton Castle towards them in a massive explosive fireball. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 52: Finale!! Father and Daughter

Though the Kakurangers survive the suicide attack, Daimaou also survives due to his own nature as the immortal embodiment of all hatred. The Kakurangers henshin and prepare to attack but the Three God Generals appear and reveal that they cannot destroy Daimaou like a typical Yokai. If they do, Daimaou will his influence be spread worldwide and transform many humans into his dead Yokai minions who will rise up and conquer the world. As Daimaou leaves to attack Tokyo and attempt to provoke them, Holy Stealth Beast Tsubasamaru strips the Kakurangers of their powers and tells them to seal Daimaou away like before. In the city, where Daimaou is invisible to everyone except for the Kakuranger, he duplicates himself to hide so the Kakurangers end up playing guardian as the copies start throwing people to their deaths only to be saved. Tired of their busy work and refusal to kill him, Daimaou destroys buildings and nearly kills a baby which forces them to fight and he easily defeats them all. However, they rally and henshin before teleporting Daimaou and the Flowery Kunochi Sisters to the Seal Door where they manage to seal the latter but Daimaou teleports out of their grasp and grows giant sized where he confronts the Three Beast Generals and Ninjaman. However, the Three God Generals and Ninjaman use their powers to shrink him which allowing the Kakurangers to seal him back into the cave where the other Yokai are entombed despite him trying to fry them and strike them with Yokai Spirits. Daimaou and the other Yokai scream that they will return as long as there are humans left in this world but the Kakurangers finally shut the Seal Door and trap Daimaou and his minions inside once again. Choriki Sentai Ohranger[]

A year after the Yokai Army Corp's defeat, a Minor Yokai named Onbu-Obake emerges as the new Yokai threat. He is a powerful Yokai that managed to escape the Kakurangers' defeat of the Yokai Army Corps by remaining in hiding during the series. Onbu-Obake is allied with Buldont in order to win a contest to defeat the Ohranger before his father. Buldont brought him in for a contest he and his father Emperor Bacchus Wrath are having to see who can kill the Ohrangers first. Buldont upgrades Onbu-Obake with Baranoia technology, having found Onbu-Obake from researching the occult. During his first giant battle, he is able to easily survive all of the attacks that OhRanger mecha throw at him mostly due to the OhRanger mecha being designed to defeat Machine Beasts and not Yokai and his energy and their energy are the same. As such, he is able to absorb and redirect their own attacks back at them with even King Pyramidder Battle Formation's Super Legend Beam being useless. In a duel with Bara Gear, Bacchus Wrath's chosen monster for the bet, he pilots OhBlocker while Bara Gear pilots Ohranger Robo. Onbu-Obake could enlarge himself to the size of the Robos without the use of lightning. Onbu-Obake's human guise is a clown and his powers include possession and absorption attacks. He also scared Ganmazin away by showing him his spiritual form. The Kakuranger and Ohranger both joined forces in order to defeat both he and Bara Gear. After Buldont and Bacchus make a truce, Onbu-Obake and Bara Gear merge to form Onbu-Gear (オンブハグルマ Onbuhaguruma). He survives OhBlocker's Twin Blocken Crash but becomes dizzy after OhBlocker, OhRanger Robo and Red Puncher toss Tackle Boy around so many times. This leaves OhBlocker open to use Tackle Boy to finally destroy the monsters forever with the Dynamite Tackle attack. Tvicon TV STORY- Choriki Sentai Ohranger: Ole vs. Kakuranger

Gokaiger[]

Several Dorodoros are part of an army of past enemy grunts that fight the Gokaigers in Los Dark's ghost dimension which houses the 1500 spirits of the villains defeated by the Super Sentai. After losing some of their number in an initial skirmish, the remaining members from each grunt group merge to form the Combined Combatant. Though the stronger opponent, the Combined Combatant proves to be unstable due to internal conflicting among the grunts composing him over who got to finish the pirates off. Taking advantage, the Gokaigers use the Battle Fever J Ranger Keys to destroy the Combined Combatant with the Penta Force cannon.
