Summer Movies

This article is about a movie type in the Super Sentai series.

There have been summer movies since the beginning of the Super Sentai Series, though it did not become a tradition until Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger. Every Super Sentai show has since had its own movie, premiering in the summer, double-billed with the summer movie of the Kamen Rider show it is currently airing alongside. A common trend of the later summer movies is to either introduce a new ranger, a new mecha, or both, with many but not all of these mecha reappearing in later episodes or films. The Boukenger film was unique in that it introduced a new combination made up entirely of existing auxiliary mecha, rather than a separate mecha created for the film.

However, starting with Kiramager, they had stopped doing the trend of introducing a new ranger and a new mecha. Since it allows the movies to be more free and creative, without involving said trend.
