Sentai Black

This article is about a set of Rangers in the Super Sentai series.

Toeifile-black — A Toei classification showing all protagonist Black Rangers up to Goseiger. Interestingly, Black Knight is present despite being previously only considered a Bangai Hero. He is the only supposed non-ranger featured.

The Black Sentai Ranger (黒い戦隊レンジャー, Kuroi Sentai Renjā) or Black Warrior (黒い戦士, Kuroi Senshi) is a position given to a position in some Super Sentai Series. Black usually serves as second-in-command and is always male. It is usually interchangeable with Green, but is also often paired with Green as the additional members to a core team of three, in this case, there have been two Black Rangers who took the place of the Pink Ranger while two took the place of the Yellow Ranger. Though Black Rangers are normally in the core team and from the start, 8 are additional rangers. 5 of those 8 are not in the core team, with tw o of those 5 being the Black Sixth Ranger of the team, and the other three of them are Extra Heroes, with one of them being the Sixth Hero of that season as well. Personality-wise, most Black Warriors tend to be rivals, although some have been powerhouses and a few as childish. There is one full team of Black Rangers, the Neo-Jetman. All members of this team shared the basic personality of a Black Ranger, acting as anti-heroes, rivals, and powerhouses.

Main Sentai Black

These are Rangers who belong on the main team and are the main characters of the show. They are also the first to appear as that specific color designation for the team.

Secondary Sentai Black

These are Rangers who, while belonging with the main team, are also the second to appear as that specific color designation for the team.

These are Rangers that exist in alternate or expanded versions of the main canon, or in past/future points in time of the main canon.

Kenta (Koichi Kusakari) is Black Mask in Hikari Sentai Maskman.
Tetsuya Yano (Seirou Yamaguchi) is Black Bison in Choujuu Sentai Liveman. The younger brother of Takuji Yano, seeking to avenge the death of his brother by joining the Livemen to defeat Volt.
Daichi Yamagata (Fumiaki Ganaha) is Black Turbo in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger.
Fumiya Hoshikawa (Ryohei Kobayashi) is FiveBlack in Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman.

Gai Yuki (Toshihide Wakamatsu) is the deceased Black Condor in Chojin Sentai Jetman.
Sharma Tribe Knight Goushi (Seiju Umon) is MammothRanger in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.

Jiraiya (Kane Kosugi) is NinjaBlack in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.
- A doll version of NinjaBlack assisted Tsuruhime during her Shinobi Scroll trial. TV STORY-Ep. 26: The Tsuruhime Family's Super Secret
Riki (Shōji Yamaguchi) is KingRanger in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. The protector of the Princess Dorin. He is the legendary hero who he chased Bacchus off Pangea, 600 million years ago.
VRV Master is an ally character in Gekisou Sentai Carranger; his true identity is an alien of the planet Hazard and father of Dapp.
Kouichirou Endou (Atsushi Ehara) is MegaBlack in Denji Sentai Megaranger.
- NeziVulgar is NeziBlack of the Jaden Sentai Neziranger in Denji Sentai Megaranger. He is the evil counterpart of MegaBlack. His alternate form is a rock monster with rock-like tentacles. During his first appearance, he disguised himself as MegaBlack.
Hyuuga (Teruaki Ogawa) is the second Black Knight in Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. His status, as well as a predecessor, is that of a Bangai Hero.
- Hyuuga succeeded the original Black Knight, BullBlack (Koji Ochiai), after his death.
Soutarou Ushigome (Kazuyoshi Sakai) is GaoBlack in Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger.

- Manmaruba, Spear Three of the Seven Dark Spears, briefly took the powers of GaoBlack in Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger vs. Gaoranger.
Asuka (Kaoru Abe) is AbareBlack in Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger. He is the mentor of the team who supplied the team with their powers, but initially could not become AbareBlack until his broken Dino Harp Key was restored.
Doggie Kruger (voiced by Tetsu Inada) is DekaMaster in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger.
Masumi Inou (Yasuka Saitoh) is Bouken Black in GoGo Sentai Boukenger.
- A copy of Bouken Black was created by Ouga as part of the Evil Boukengers.
Rio (Hirofumi Araki) is Black Lion Rio in Juken Sentai Gekiranger. His status is actually classified as a Bangai Hero.
Gunpei Ishihara (Kenji Ebisawa) is Go-On Black in Engine Sentai Go-Onger.
- A Fake Go-On Black appears in the video game Super Sentai Battle: Ranger Cross.
Agri (Kyousuke Hamao) is Gosei Black in Tensou Sentai Goseiger.
Though not Black Rangers themselves, Joe Gibken (Gokai Blue), Luka Millfy (Gokai Yellow), Don Dogoier (Gokai Green), Ahim de Famille (Gokai Pink) and Gai Ikari (Gokai Silver) have all changed into past Black Rangers via the Ranger Keys in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
An alternate version of Takeshi Kuroki (Hideo Sakaki) is Black Puma of the Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters in Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Returns vs. Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters.
Ian Yorkland (Syuusuke Saito) is Kyoryu Black in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger.
- A Zorima was disguised as Kyoryu Black by Debo Yakigonte as part of a plot to break the Kyoryugers up. TV STORY-Brave 7: Angry! Daigo's in Big Trouble
- Having initally taken the mantle of Kyoryu Silver, Ian's descendant Icchan (Syuusuke Saito) later transformed into Kyoryu Black in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger: 100 YEARS AFTER.
- Hyeonjun Jeon (Hong Sungho; dubbed by Yamato Kinjo) is Ian's successor, Brave Kyoryu Black (Brave Black Dino), in the Korean-commissioned sequel Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger Brave (Power Rangers Dino Force Brave)).
Misao Mondo (Naoki Kunishima) is Zyuoh The World in Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger. A human captured by the Deathgaliens, who went under experiences where the life essence of 3 Zyuman were infused within him, allowing to become the Extra Player from Ginis' game. However, the Zyuohgers persuased him to believe in himself rather than in Ginis, making him their ally.

- Microtsuyoindaver briefly becomes a giant black version of Hebitsukai Metal.
Bamba (Tatsuya Kishida) is Ryusoul Black in Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger.
Tsubasa Inuzuka (Totaro) is InuBrother in Avataro Sentai Donbrothers.
Kaguragi Dybowski (So Kaku) is Hachi Ohger in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger.
