PR2020 logo This article is about a/an common theme of Rangers in the Power Rangers franchise.

Dinosaurs are a common theme for Power Rangers. It has been used by 4 protagonist teams so far but has also been used by team variations. The theme extends to other prehistoric creatures as well. It is associated with rampaging and rage, as well as with bravery. These Rangers typically pilot or summon Zords with similar themes.

  • All Red Rangers (with the exception of the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger) are themed around a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
    • Also, each Red Ranger from the Dino teams (with the exception of Cosmic Fury) has their own exclusive power-up form (Armored Red Ranger, Triassic Ranger, T-Rex Super Charge Red Ranger and Dino Knight Red Ranger).
  • Every team has a Triceratops based Ranger.
    • Also, all male Triceratop-themed Rangers are Blue Rangers.
  • All teams have Red, Blue and Black Rangers.
    • The Dino Rangers are the only team to lack a Green Ranger.
    • Likewise, the Dino Charge Rangers, Dino Fury Rangers and Cosmic Fury Rangers are the only teams to lack a Yellow Ranger.
    • The Dino Rangers and the Cosmic Fury Rangers are the only teams to lack a Pink Ranger.
  • In fact, most teams do not feature a full-team dinosaur-theme as each team has at least one member that is not based on a dinosaurs or is a fictional species.
    • The team that feature full dinosaur-theme team is the 5-man Dino Charge Rangers.
    • These following Rangers are not actually based on Dinosaur or is based on a fictional species:
      • Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger, Yellow Dino Ranger, Dino Charge Gold Ranger (all are Pteranodon) and the White Dino Ranger (Tupuxuara) are based on Pterosaurs, a group of prehistoric flying reptiles, which, while bearing similarity to dinosaurs, were not in the same genetic classification.
      • Mighty Morphin Black Ranger (Mammoth), Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger, and Dino/Cosmic Fury Green Ranger (both are Smilodon) are based on extinct ancient mammals.
      • Mighty Morphin Green Ranger (Dragon) is based on a mythical creature.
      • Dino Charge Purple Ranger (Smilodon) and Dino/Cosmic Fury Gold Ranger (Mosasaurus) are based on prehistoric marine reptiles.
      • Cosmic Fury Orange Ranger is the only Dino-themed Ranger to be based off of a fictional species, the Solonosaurus, the species of Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury mentor Solon.
  • Each dinosaur team have a Ranger/Extra Ranger who was evil at some point, brainwashed by a monster or at least once.
  • Only Dino Thunder and Dino Charge had sentient Zords, the others were non-sentient.
  • With the exception of Dino Charge, each team has a Ranger (evil or not) who died.
  • Each series has a main villain exclusive to its series.
  • With the exception of Sledge and Bajillia Naire, all villains from the dinosaur series used to be human (or humanoid, in Santaura's case).
  • The Cosmic Fury Rangers are the only Dinosaur themed team without a Sixth Ranger
    • They are also the only Dinosaur team with three female Rangers at one time.
  • With the exception of Dino Thunder, each season had at least 2 or more seasons.
  • Each dinosaur series had an enhanced power up/battlizer or a new Ranger suit that is exclusive to their series.
