Gokaiger

Years later, the Space Empire Zangyack invaded Earth. This threat was so great that all of the first 34 Super Sentai, including Maskman, were needed to oppose them. The 34 Sentai put up a valiant fight against the ground forces, but when the Zangyack fleet itself attacked them, Akarenger told everyone to combine their powers and save the Earth. This destroyed the Zangyack fleet and resulted in the loss of their powers, which resurfaced as Ranger Keys, that were dispersed throughout the universe.

The keys were collected by AkaRed, and later utilized by the 35th Super Sentai, the Gokaigers, a group of five people from different planets who came to Earth in search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 1: The Space Pirates Appear The greater power of Maskman was initially taken by Basco ta Jolokia, but was granted to the Gokaigers by Akira after Basco's death. The Maskmen, among the majority of the Super Sentai heroes, were caught up in the "Super Hero Taisen" incident. They were presumably sent to the dimensional riftIcon-crosswiki, under the pretense of being defeated, by Kamen Rider Decade while he was apparently hunting the Sentai teams. When his and Captain Marvelous' ruse was revealed, Maskman appeared with the other Super Sentai through the dimensional wallIcon-crosswiki, they then fought alongside all the other Sentai teams and Kamen RidersIcon-crosswiki against the alliance of Dai-ShockerIcon-crosswiki and Dai-Zangyack. At one point, the Maskmen joined forces with Kamen Rider Black, as they protected Earth in the same year. They launched an attack against the revived Shadow Moon. Ranger Keys

The Hikari Sentai Maskman Ranger Keys (光戦隊マスクマンレンジャーキー Hikari Sentai Masukuman Renjā Kī) are what became of the Maskmen's powers after they along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.

Any of these keys allow a Gokaiger to assume the form of any of the Maskmen or charge GokaiOh with Aura Power to initiate the Gokai Aura Galaxy attack. The Greater Power of this Sentai Group was stolen by Basco, but was later retrieved when Basco was defeated after he infused the Greater Power into the Maskman Keys.

Note

  • The Maskmen were the first Sentai team to have a sixth hero, X-1 Mask.
  • They were the first team to have an individual mecha for each core member which would apply to all of their successors, with the exception of the Fivemen, wherein only the Red Ranger has his own Mecha while the other two mecha are both co-piloted by two of the other four core members.
    • The Megarangers also likewise do not possess this in the case of their main mecha Galaxy Mega, where they all control one vehicle and the other is transformed remotely; however their second mech, Mega Voyager, is the typical five-piece formation.
  • They are the first team whose powers are supernatural in origin, as opposed to technological.
  • Many foreign versions of the show were used the names in dubbing:
    • Mikaël (Takeru), Kent (Kenta), Allan (Akira), Héléna (Haruka), Barbara (Momoko) and Néoman (Ryo, as X-1 Mask) in French.
    • Takeo (Takeru), Sayaka (Haruka), Keiko (Momoko) and Liu (Ryu) in Brazilian Portuguese, though Kenta and Akira retained their characters' names in the dub.
    • Michael Joe (Takeru), Leonard (Kenta), Adrian (Akira), Eloisa (Haruka), Mary Rose (Momoko) and Roy (Ryo) were the names used in the Filipino dub.
