Super Sentai[]
Unlike its American adaptation, Halloween for a time was not celebrated in Super Sentai. This is because the holiday wasn’t introduced fully to Japan as a concept until the late 1990s when Disney and Universal, in order to boost tourism to their Japanese theme parks during the fall, duplicated their Halloween festivals from their parks in the USA. This triggered a cross cultural exchange domino effect as competitive businesses began selling Halloween merchandise. Over the years this led into adopting the holiday’s fun customs, such as dressing up, giving out candy at street fairs and occasional episodes of television themed around the holiday.
Tokusatsu itself began Halloween episodes with one from Ultraman Tiga just as the holiday started to appear in Japan, but it is still something rare to see today. It only happens sometimes if the week it airs in starts on or is the day before Halloween. This is because Halloween rarely falls on a Sunday (when the Super Hero Time block airs) during the calendar year as it is the last day of the October month.
