Team History
- "I can't believe it. Do you know this means? Those swords the Quaser Sabers. We're put in that rock. 3000 years ago. Every warrior in the galaxy tried to freed them. But, none could. Until now. We've been giving unbelievable opportunity and responsibility to defend all that is just in right in the universe. Don't you see? We've been choosing to be Power Rangers."
- ―Maya[src]
Shortly before the space colony Terra Venture left Earth's orbit, four members of its crew-Mike Corbett and his brother Leo (who had stowed away), Kai Chen, and Kendrix Morgan were engaged in a training simulation on Earth's moon. While there, they witnessed the opening of a strange portal that admitted Maya, a native of the planet Mirinoi. Learning that her world was in trouble, Mike went through the portal to help her, and was followed by Mike and Kendrix before the portal closed. Kai, determined to catch up to them, convinced mechanic Damon Henderson to help him take the Astro Megaship from its museum dock to Mirinoi. Once there, they joined the others, and everyone except Leo drew one of the legendary Quasar Sabers from their stone sheaths. A battle with Furio, general of the villain Scorpius, led to the rest of Mirinoi's inhabitants being turned to stone and Mike falling into a fissure. Before he fell, he entrusted his saber to Leo; Leo then joined the other four in becoming one of the Galaxy Rangers.
For some time the unlikely team battled against Scorpius and his army of villains, gained new allies-the Galactabeasts-and new weapons-the Transdaggers and Quasar Launchers. New foes emerged as a destroyed Furio was replaced by Treacheron, and a new enemy of Scorpius' with questionable morals arose in the form of the Magna Defender. The Rangers and these warring parties became engaged in the hunt for the Lights of Orion, a powerful energy source that the Rangers eventually obtained, increasing their powers. They were soon able to destroy Treacheron, and the Magna Defender later redeemed himself by giving his life to prevent Terra Venture's destruction. In the process, he released Mike, whom he had previously taken into himself in order to escape the chasm on Mirinoi that they had both fallen into. The Magna Defender's spirit later bequeathed his powers to Mike, who became the new Magna Defender and a member of the Rangers' team.
Scorpius' new general Deviot proved to be a dangerous foe, but the Rangers were further bolstered after freeing the Stratoforce Megazord, Centaurus Megazord, and Zenith Carrierzord from his control. They were eventually tricked into destroying Scorpius by Deviot, who hoped to usurp his master's power. However, Scorpius' daughter Trakeena ascended to the throne with general Villamax at her side, and set out to take revenge on the rangers. One such attempt involved the Psycho Rangers, who were reanimated to serve as Trakeena's minions. The Galaxy Rangers were forced to battle them on two occasions, and were aided in these battles by the Space Rangers. However, the victory over Psycho Pink came at a great cost, as Kendrix sacrificed herself to destroy the Savage Sword empowering the villainess. As a result, the pink Quasar Saber was sent out into space, where it would eventually be found by Karone, formerly known as the villain Astronema. Impressed by Karone's heroism, Kendrix's spirit named her the new Pink Ranger.
During their adventures, the Rangers came across the mysterious Galaxy Book, which contained many secrets and great power. Deviot used this power to transport Terra Venture into the fabled Lost Galaxy, where he continued to serve as an adversary to the Rangers under the command of Captain Mutiny. After a series of battles, the Rangers were able to return Terra Venture to the outside universe, though at the cost of Mike's Magna Defender powers. Captain Mutiny's Crew pursued the colony only to be destroyed by Trakeena's Scorpion Stinger, and a resulting altercation between Deviot and Trakeena led to the two merging, with Deviot's evil infecting Trakeena. The deranged queen led a massive assault on Terra Venture, bringing the colony down on the moon of a habitable planet and destroying the Astro Megaship and Centaurus and Stratoforce Megazords. However, these victories cost her both her ship and her army, and Villamax turned against her, leading to his destruction. After mutating into a hideous insectoid form, Trakeena battled the Rangers again but was defeated in the final battle.
Having safely evacuated the colonists to the planet, the Rangers were stunned to learn that it was in fact Mirinoi. Returning the Quasar Sabers to their stones, they revitalized the planet's inhabitants and unexpectedly revived Kendrix as well.
Lightspeed Rescue
However, Trakeena proved to be alive and well, and sent her Ghouls to attack Leo on Mirinoi. Escaping the attack, Leo reclaimed his Quasar Saber and followed Trakeena to Earth, where he found her working in collaboration with Triskull and the Demons in Mariner Bay. This forced him to join forces with the Lightspeed Rangers, and they were soon joined by the other Galaxy Rangers-Kendrix reclaiming her role as Pink Ranger from Karone. A fierce battle ensued in which Trakeena was mutated by Olympius into a hideous giant monster that proved more than a match for the Lights of Orion-powered Galaxy Megazord and the Omega Megazord. However, the Lightspeed Rangers were able to harness the Lights of Orion to power the Omega Megazord, giving them the strength needed to destroy Trakeena again. With their task done, the Galaxy Rangers returned to Mirinoi.
Forever Red
Leo would later draw his Quasar Saber again and arrive on Earth's moon alongside Aurico of the Alien Rangers. They completed a team of Veteran Red Rangers who joined forces to battle a remnant of the Machine Empire attempting to raise Serpentera from it's resting place. The Rangers succeeded in their task, and Leo presumably returned to Mirinoi. TV STORY-Forever Red
