Bridge Carson is an S.P.D. Cadet who began his Ranger duties as the S.P.D. Green Ranger in the year 2025. He is a member of the B-Squad Rangers of the S.P.D. Rangers, later being promoted to the second S.P.D. Blue Ranger of said team. After Sky became the commander of Earth Base, Bridge was promoted again and became the third and current S.P.D. Red Ranger of B-Squad.

In Power Rangers Operation Overdrive, two years later, Bridge was recruited by the Sentinel Knight, who brought Bridge from the future to 2007 for him to be part of the Retro Rangers, helping the Overdrive Rangers against Thrax and his Evil Alliance.

History

Early life

Bridge's parents served at S.P.D. years before he was born. While helping in the creation of the Delta Morpher, they were exposed to some cellular enhancers, which altered their genes and would give Bridge his genetic powers after he was born.

Not much is known about Bridge before he was in S.P.D., but he was born in the year 2004, on an airplane as it was crossing the International Date Line; this would make him 21 years old in 2025 (the year he became a Ranger). He makes note of this when he says he was born "before the day [he] was born." Bridge is also Jewish as he mentioned that he celebrates Hanukkah to Jack.

Dino Thunder

When Kira the Yellow Dino Ranger is the first who touched a glowing rock, she saw herself becoming a Ranger. However, she also had a vision of the new team of Power Rangers, the S.P.D. Rangers including Bridge as the S.P.D. Green Ranger. An evil space alien confronts the new team of Rangers. The S.P.D. Rangers summon a Mega Cannon called R.I.C. to take down the alien. Ethan is the second who touched a glowing rock, seen the vision of the S.P.D. Rangers call for the Delta Runners. The Delta Squad Megazord is formed to combat evil. Another alien species threatens the existence of Earth. TV STORY-Before it Began

S.P.D. Green Ranger

Bridge and his fellow cadets after training.

Bridge would soon join Space Patrol Delta and become a member of the B-Squad while meeting his fellow cadets Sky Tate and Syd Drew. After Commander Cruger sends them to catch two thieves known as Jack Landors and Z Delgado. Bridge and his friends were easily defeated by the thieves. Following the disappearance of A-Squad, Bridge and his fellow cadets were made the official Power Rangers, tasked with defending planet Earth. He became the Green Ranger of the team and was soon met with the arrival of the Red and Yellow Ranger, who were Jack and Z, the thieves that were recruited into the team by Cruger after they helped the cadets fight a bunch of Krybots. The Bank Robber

After the Rangers were tasked to find an intergalactic bank robber of unknown appearance, Bridge dismissed the idea that the alien Trilondon could be the robber, as he seemingly had a clean record, which his fellow Rangers doubted. While investigating another bank robbery, Bridge and the Rangers meet a witness named Diane. Realizing that there was something off about Diane's dog, Bridge is allowed to run his own leads on the case while the rest of the team are insistent that the bank robber is T-Top.

While the other Rangers fight T-Top again, Bridge meets with Diane and asks her to blow up a balloon for him. Bridge used this as evidence to suggest that Diane was actually a plant based life form as she breathed out oxygen instead of carbon dioxide. When the Judgement Scanner claims that T-Top was Not Guilty, Bridge attacked Diane, forcing her to transform into her original form, Hydrax from the planet Fernovia. Hydrax is confined for containment by Bridge while T-Top is revealed to be an alien bounty hunter that was after Hydrax. TV STORY-A-Bridged

Meeting Sophie

"If Sophie wasn't a cyborg, we wouldn't have thrown her out on the street without asking some questions first."

Bridge and the rest of B-Squad were training the D-Squad during a simulation where "Krybots" attacked them. The squad was easily defeated with the exception of cadet Sophie. Impressed with her skills, Bridge suggested Sophie as a computer intern at the Delta Base. Following a conversation where Sophie told Bridge to treat machines with respect, Bridge offered to read Sophie's aura to calm her insecurities about her new job as an intern, but she refused. During another training session with D-Squad, they are attacked by General Valko and this time a real group of Krybots, Bridge morphs and protects Sophie after Valko tried to capture her for unknown reasons. He later takes the D-Squad to safety while his fellow Rangers fight the criminals. Following a megazord fight with a giant robot, Bridge and the other Rangers discover that Sophie is a cyborg and that she hacked the D.B.D.S. program, resulting in her getting expelled from the academy. After this, Bridge questioned if they did the right thing by expelling Sophie from the academy, this was later proved correct when Cruger agreed with this notion and ordered the Ranger to bring her back. Remembering that Valko was looking for a Series One Processor Hyper Intelligent Encrypter, Bridge realizes that it was an acronym for S.O.P.H.I.E. and goes looking for the general. Meanwhile, Valko captured and tied Sophie into the systems of a powerful giant cyborg known as Goradon.

While Sophie escaped the system, Bridge and the Rangers tried to fight Goradon with their Megazord but were unsuccessful. After Sophie was brought back to the Delta Base by Commander Cruger, she hacked the D.B.D.S. program again and brings phase two online, which granted Bridge and the other Rangers access to the Delta Command Megazord. The Rangers then emerge victorious after they destroy Goradon with their new Megazord. Sophie was later commissioned to help S.P.D. in the Theta Quadrant to overhaul their systems, which Bridge and the other Rangers celebrate. TV STORY-Wired (2)

Promotion Time

As the Green Ranger, Bridge and his teammates experienced many adventures together, from earning the new S.W.A.T. Mode upgrade to facing the corrupted A-Squad Rangers in battle. He has the ability to read the auras of other people.

When Jack Landors retired from S.P.D., Sky Tate was promoted from Blue Ranger to Red Ranger, causing Bridge to be promoted to S.P.D. Blue Ranger. Some time later, Supreme Commander Fowler "Birdie" retired from S.P.D. Central Command and went down to Miami. Anubis Cruger was promoted from Earth S.P.D. to Central Command, leaving his status as Earth Commander behind, causing Sky to be promoted from Red Ranger to Anubis' former position, and Bridge to be promoted to S.P.D. Red Ranger.

Operation Overdrive

Meeting the Overdrive Rangers

Bridge returns as S.P.D. Red Ranger.

Bridge would be called back to action once more. The Sentinel Knight came to ask Bridge for help in protecting the jewels of the Corona Aurora, after the Operation Overdrive Power Rangers were disconnected from the Morphing Grid by Rita and Zedd's son Thrax. Bridge decides to help. After Xander the Green Mystic Ranger attack Mig, Bridge is the second who attack using his Delta Blasters against Kamdor after he demanded to know who Xander is and the rest of the veteran Rangers are present. After his enemies are defeated and the Overdrive Rangers are stunned, also he like the rest of the four Retro Rangers heard they needed some help.

After that, Kamdor and Mig decide to retreat. The Retro Rangers demorph immediately afterwards and meets the Overdrive Rangers. Before the conversation gets too deep, according to Tori and thinks perhaps another place would be better to talk. He and the others response to Will's question that everyone was a Ranger once. Bridge tells his confuse history about how he became a Red Ranger after first being the Green Ranger and later the Blue Ranger from the future until the unexpected appearance of the Sentinel Knight, who recounted how he restored the powers of some of the other past Rangers thus naming them the new Power Ranger team.

Bridge teams up with Kira, Xander, and Tori led by Adam against Flurious and his Chillers.

Later, Bridge and the rest of the Rangers save an ancient monument, returning to the Hartford Mansion, when meeting again with the Overdrive Rangers, listening Rose's question confirms like the rest of the veteran Rangers that everyone gets along. His Retro teammate Kira motivates that the Overdrive Rangers will recover their powers a little more time. Immediately an emergency alarm sounded and Bridge along with Tori, Kira and Xander lead by Adam went to save San Angeles, preventing Flurious and his Chillers from blocking the road. He fights against several numbers of Chillers, until they cornered Flurious but he escaped. TV STORY-Once A Ranger (1)

Defeating the Evil Alliance

Adam, Bridge, Xander, Kira, and Tori are in a warehouse in Angel Grove. Adam is leading them along when Bridge offers to help and takes his glove off to take a reading. The strange reading turns out to be several Chillers, later when Xander's "Plan Xander" plan failed, the five Rangers fight against several Chillers. Bridge easily defeat the Chillers. After the battle, Adam spots the crate he was looking for. Bridge's teammate Tori wonders whether this would really help and Adam is confident that it will.

In the Control Center after Adam activated Alpha and teleported within the Morphin Grid, the alarm goes off. Xander, Kira, Bridge, and Tori slid down the poles and race towards the screen. The screen shows a giant size monster, Vulturus. Mr. Hartford instructs Adam to take the Flash Point Megazord and the other Rangers follow pass. The Rangers in the two Megazords battle Vulturus. The Rangers in the DriveMax Ultrazord have a difficult time and spot Mack racing towards them with the Sword Excelsior. Mack leaps high into the air and comes down slashing the sword through Vulturus and destroying him. After that, Mack gives Sentinel Knight the sword, Bridge and the others enter the room and tell Mack what a great job he did. Alpha 6 returns from the Morphing Grid. Mr. Hartford checks and somehow, someway the Grid is back online.

In the Control Center, the screen shows the Evil Alliance. he like the other veteran Rangers are ready to give the Overdrive Trackers and Mercury Morpher to the six Overdrive Rangers. With the Trackers and Mercury Morpher now repaired are handed back to the six Rangers. All of the Rangers take off to face down the Evil Alliance. Both Ranger teams confronted Thrax's Alliance in a final battle. All the Rangers morph, appalling Thrax, as he thought he took them away. The Rangers and villains race towards each other and the battle begins. Bridge fought alongside Mack Hartford the Red Operation Overdrive Ranger against Flurious. Bridge was kicked by Flurious, but fortunately, he give his Delta Blasters to Mack to attack Flurious with a successful result.

Later, Bridge and Mack were flying straight at Flurious. Bridge uses the Drive Lance while Mack uses the Drive Defender and both Red Rangers attack Flurious with a double slash defeating Flurious. The Sentinel Knight then appeared and used the power of the Sword Excelsior to destroy Thrax, and the Rangers defeated the villains but survived and Moltor tells them he is going after the remaining jewels. Miratrix tells him not if they get there first. The Evil Alliance is no more and they vanish, after the two Ranger teams reunited and shake hands.

Everyone is gathered inside the Hartford Mansion, Bridge listening that how Dax was happy to see them, then upset that they were staying, and now sad that they are leaving. Bridge receives his favorite and "butteriest" toast, by Spencer. Mr. Hartford suggests they gathered together. Everyone forms a circle and place their hands on top of each other. Then they leap into the air and say "Go Go Power Rangers". TV STORY-Once A Ranger (2)

Emperor Mavro was defeated, but the remaining thousands of X Borgs still stand. Tommy gathered all the existing Power Rangers, Bridge returns with his fellow S.P.D. Rangers as part of the army of Legendary Rangers that helped the Mega Rangers defeat the Armada once and for all, fighting in a huge battle against hundreds of X Borgs and dozens of Bruisers. After the demise of the X Borgs, Tommy shook hands with Troy and teleported off along with Bridge and the Legendary Rangers. It is presumed that he traveled from a time when he is still the S.P.D. Dino Fury

Zayto activates the Legendary Ranger Database, showing Master Blue that Master Green came to them after the Dinohenge statues were destroyed and restored them to normal. Also, Zayto says that he found Ranger teams who were saved in their darkest moments through unexplained reasons and shows them three specific moments. Including the Legendary Battle where all the Legendary Rangers including Bridge and the other S.P.D. Rangers coming to the aid of the Megaforce Rangers in the Legendary Battle and helping them defeat an entire army of the Armada's X Borgs. TV STORY-Morphin Master

Bridge joined with several Space Patrol Delta officers to assist Tommy Oliver in rescuing his son J.J. from the witch Scorpina, engaging her forces in a battle which saw Scorpina dragged back to the Talos Dimension by her master Lokar while the remaining gang members were taken into custody by Bridge, Lina Song, the Blue Senturion and their fellow police officers. An odd, but intelligent young man, Bridge's unusual mannerisms lead others to see him as annoying. His favorite food is buttery toast. Bridge is inquisitive almost to a fault, and has a tendency to draw out his sentences to the point of near ridiculousness (in the second episode, Syd foreshadowed this trait in a form of meta-humor by asking Bridge "Is it going to be one of those long, drawn out, Bridge type questions, that really isn't a question, but leaves us asking lots of questions?"). While quirky and prone to thinking in ways others find strange, Bridge is also incredibly analytical; he has the ability to notice small details others would normally overlook, and make accurate, insightful deductions based on this obscure evidence. When trapped by Bork, Bridge was able to keep his coolness under duress, something that Commander Cruger noted as "inspiring".

Powers and Abilities

Genetic Power(s)

• Psychometry: Bridge has psychometry, meaning he can sense the auras of anyone or anything in the vicinity, the exact distance limit is unknown. He usually focuses his aura sensing to a single target, and wears his gloves to limit his psychometry because if he doesn't wear his gloves he will uncontrollably sense the aura of anyone or anything he is around. While he was the S.P.D Green Ranger, his aura sensing produced a green color, but as the Red S.P.D Ranger, his aura sensing produced a red color.
• Extra Sensory Perception: At a later episode "Samurai," Bridge had talked about and showed he had latent telepathic receptive abilities. As he boasted that thoughts were energy which he could pick up stating it was his weapon of the future, he accurately discerned Jack's thoughts regarding the Shadow Sabre and why Kruger wouldn't let him use it.
• Super-Strength: In his morphed state, Bridge has demonstrated a degree of superhuman strength, an example of which was in the episode "A-Bridged," where he managed to pick up and throw a car at Hydrax, though it still took some effort. He is the only super-strong Ranger whose strength stems from his morphed state.
• Precognition: In "Robotpalooza," Bridge briefly displays precognition in the form of dreams of losing a battle with three powerful robots. Kat Manx later speculates that Bridge was picking up the energy of these robots which had destroyed another planet. Apparently the robots aura was powerful enough to effect Bridge across space and give him precognitive dreams. He doesn't display this ability again.

Abilities

• Investigation: In "A-Bridged," is shown that, due to his unorthodox methods and line of thinking, Bridge is the most skilled detective of his team. This is thanks to his ability to pick up obscure clues to solve complicated cases, clues which most of his fellow Rangers are quick to dismiss.

• As one of the five B-Squad Rangers, Bridge featured in his own specially filmed profile short released by Jetix to promote S.P.D.. Called upon by Anubis Cruger, Bridge states his name, rank and genetic powers.
• Matt was not originally going to be in Once A Ranger, as Brandon Jay McLaren, who plays Jack Landors, was offered to reprise his role. However, due to a break-up with Dino Thunder's Emma Lahana (who he had dated in real life), McLaren turned down the offer when told she would also be reprising her role, plus, Chris Violette, who plays Sky Tate, was unavailable at the time, and the storyline was altered to have Bridge become the new S.P.D. Red Ranger.

Ranger Key

The S.P.D. Green Ranger Key.

The S.P.D. Green Ranger Key is Bridge's personal Ranger Key. This key along with the majority of the Core Ranger Keys are seen lining the Command Center's interior walls. This key is mainly used by Jake Holling (Super Megaforce Green) who uses it to fight as the S.P.D. Green Ranger.

• Although Bridge was promoted to Blue Ranger, he was never seen using the Blue Ranger's powers on screen.

• Bridge wears gloves to control his genetic ability. In reality, Matt Austin wears the gloves to conceal the tattoos on his hands.

• In the Japanese dub of Power Rangers S.P.D., Bridge is voiced by Yosuke Ito, who played Bridge's own counterpart Sen'ichi Enari/DekaGreen.
• Jason Bischoff, the former Global Franchise Director for Power Rangers, released in Twitter in 2020 of a pitch concept of the S.P.D. Fire Squad. Expanding Bridge's story of being leader of the B-Squad Rangers and in a new upgraded form, the idea of Bridge's backstory would have had him being engaged to S.O.P.H.I.E., but her body was destroyed during a case and was lucky to survive digitally and now is within Bridge’s new Morpher. According to Bischoff, it would have represented Bridge wearing ‘"his heart on his sleeve".
• Piggy considered Bridge to be his "favorite" of the B Squad Power Rangers because he hates him the least.
