This article is about a/an ally in the Power Rangers comic sub-franchise by Boom! Studios. |
Billy Cranston was the Blue Ranger of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and followed his counterpart's original timeline, until the Green Ranger's full defection to the side of evil.
History[]
Billy Cranston was chosen by Zordon to be the Blue Ranger. He fought with the Power Rangers against Rita Repulsa and her monsters.
As Billy continued to fight among the Rangers, they came under attack by Rita's new Green Ranger. They were able to break the spell that held him under Rita's sway by destroying the Sword of Darkness. However, Tommy still chose to align with Rita and they began to conquer the Earth. Together with allies new and old, Billy fought to keep their forces back. Zordon creates the Unicorn Thunderzord for him. However, it is not enough. Billy dies in the ensuing battle, but not before hiding his Triceratops Power Coin with Trini. COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 13
Billy is loved and remembered by The Coinless, who keep his photo at the base. The Power Coin he left began to be referred to as "The Relic". Trini held on to it, and this prevented Drakkon from creating an army of Triceratops Sentries as well. Eventually, Trini and Billy from the original timeline are able to use the coin to depower Lord Drakkon and his Sentries, ensuring victory, at least for a time.

On their quest to find the Morphin Masters inside the Grid, the Ranger Slayer and the Pink Emissary head to the Fountains of Knowledge in order to commune with someone connected to the Morphin Grid. What appears seemed to be the spirit of the deceased Billy Cranston from the World of the Coinless, who tried to convince Kimberly to hand over the White Tiger Power Coin. Kimberly sees through this deception as “Billy” was asking her to use blind faith rather than logic, not knowing her favorite color was turquoise when she asked him and his hair was styled wrong, revealing themself to be the Blue Emissary corrupted by Dark Specter. Even though their disguise was uncovered, the Emissary would continue using Billy’s voice and face while shifting along with his memories to taunt and torment Kimberly. She got her revenge by bringing the temple of the Fountains down on top of them, effectively killing the Blue Emissary.
