Benglo was a Bengal tiger-themed monster who was second-in-command of the Fearcats under Mig. Benglo, alongside Mig, was one of two quaternary antagonists of Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.
History[]
Many years ago Mig was the leader of the Fearcats and they were sworn enemies of Tyzonn and his team and they also kidnapped Vella.
When Mig and Cheetar captured Ronny, they stole her Overdrive Tracker and used it to release Benglo from the Prison Mirror and appeared to be stronger than them.
The Rangers thought they had seen the last of them when they defeated them with the DriveMax Ultrazord. However, Norg took the bodies of Mig and Benglo to Flurious who used his Gyros to revive the two Fearcats, and make them his servants. Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Benglo is voiced by David Weatherley who also portrayed Spencer in the same season. His suit actor is Masaru Obayashi (大林 勝 Ōbayashi Masaru).
Design[]
Benglo's design pays homage to Won Tiger of Gosei Sentai Dairanger, while his cyborg form resembles its combined form Kiba Daioh. Both of these are adapted as White Tigerzord and Mega Tigerzord of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This is because GoGo Sentai Boukenger, Overdrive's source, is the 30th anniversary of Super Sentai. To celebrate this, every villain and monster is based on a giant robot from a previous series.
In his first form, the similarities are having a tiger's head on his chest and large upward facing shoulders. The similarities on his second form are the sideways facing shoulders and the large orb on its chest.
Etymology[]
- Benglo's name comes from his animal motif; the Bengal tiger
Notes[]
- Benglo in the french version is the first and only Power Rangers character which is using vulgarity.
- Benglo is the last Fearcat to be destroyed.
- Benglo's weapon was recycled for Korvaka's sword in the first episode of Power Rangers Ninja Steel.
- Also, the body of Benglo's cyborg form was combined with the head of Crazar to form an audience member in the Warrior Dome.
