Bakuage 4: A Voice Calling For a Hero (ヒーローを呼ぶ声 Hīrō o Yobu koe) is the fourth episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. It features the first appearance of the Boonboom Booster.

Synopsis[]

The Boonboomgers became famous as the "Mysterious Tire Men." According to a news program, "the government is investigating the Boonboomgers." Meanwhile, Mira, who has changed into Bun Pink, is attacked by police officer Jyo Akuse...!?

Plot[]

At the garage, Taiya, Ishiro and Bun Bun see themselves on the morning news on television. The country is abuzz about the strange “tire people”, the monsters attacking the city and the sightings of giant robots. The reporter states that authorities are currently investigating the situation and then turns to a story about the best ramen in Japan as Ishiro then turns off the TV. Bun Bun is excited that he is on television and finds it awesome that he’s famous now. Taiya is surprised that citizens call them simply “Tire People”, but Ishiro warns him that he has received information that intelligence agencies are now searching for them and know they are called the Boonboomgers. Taiya says that it is only a matter of time before they are found by them.

At a city park, Mira is going for a walk when she sees a young boy go after his runaway soccer ball into the street with an oncoming truck barreling towards him. She quickly changes into Bun Pink and uses her turbo boost speed to slow down time and pick up the boy. She carries him to a sidewalk just seconds before the truck would have hit him.

The truck safely stops at the crosswalk and Mira lectures the boy that he should never run out into the street. The boy thanks the “tire person”, which confuses Mira, even moreso when the truck driver also calls her that. She tries to explain that she is called Bun Pink and she is part of the Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger, only to suddenly be handcuffed by Officer Akuse!

Back at the garage, Ishiro gets an anonymous tip from a reliable source that Mira has been arrested as Bun Pink. While it was a police officer who made the arrest, the police were not the ones to give the order to capture her.

At the International Space Agency building, the government agent, Shirabe Saibu, has Mira in an interrogation room. She explains that she knows who she is and that the Japanese government has assigned her department to investigate Mira and everything related to the Boonboomgers. The ISA is tasked as a response force for alien lifeforms that make contact with Earth, investigating and monitoring them to determine if they pose a threat. Since the Boonboomgers have caused several incidents, the ISA has deemed them persons of interest. Mira objects to being the cause of those incidents and says that they should be investigating the Hashiryans and then turns her frustration toward Officer Akuse stating he is a witness so he should be vouching for her. Jyo simply says that Agent Saibu told him that Mira was dangerous. Agent Saibu does take note of the name of the aliens wreaking havoc from Mira’s testimony but then presses Mira for information about “her red and blue comrades and the robot”.

Mira is flustered but then Taiya calls on Mira’s Boonboom Changer, who discloses who he is to Agent Saibu and he knows who she is. She is alarmed that her name has been exposed and asks how he found out, with Mira amazed how fast “Chasshiro” works on getting intel.

At Eiyu Sauna, the Sanseater Trio are enjoying a sauna room but come across newspaper articles about Boonboomger Robo. Yaiyai is upset that they are not in the newspaper photos, but Itasha says in that case they need to make their own publicity. Itasha has decided to use the coal furnace in the sauna room for her next Kurumaju as Decotrade fans the flames to make the furnace hot enough for them. Yaiyai thinks it is a great idea to use the furnace, as the unbearable heat will make lots of humans scream. Once done fanning the flames, Decotrade sits down, fanning himself and gives Itasha the go ahead to put in the Ignition Key. She burns her fingers on the first two tries, but manages to insert the key into the furnace and change it into the Sauna Grumer. Decotrade then orders their new monster to turn the Earth into a hot steamy sauna to produce screams, with Sauna Grumer all too happy to get started.

Meanwhile, Taiya has invited Officer Akuse and Agent Saibu into the garage. The policeman is amazed by the secret base and its Boonboom Cars, with Taiya misunderstanding that he is an ISA agent. Jyo introduces himself to Taiya and everyone and says he is just cooperating with the ISA’s investigations. Agent Saibu has read about Taiya upon his reveal of who he is, a billionaire who came into wealth from a young age, which explains how the Boonboomgers can afford the technology and resources that they have. She then asks who Blue is, with Taiya introducing their info broker Ishiro Meita.

Agent Saibu then demands that the Boonboomgers are to be disbanded immediately. The ISA will oversee Taiya’s financial assets and the Boonboomger equipment and gear. She will assign new Rangers that she feels are better trained and suited for the task of protecting Earth from the Hashiryans and Taiya will have no choice but to cooperate as the creator of the equipment. Mira is upset about the possibility of being “laid off” from her Ranger duties and Ishiro snidely says he is surprised that a government agency is actually doing its job. Jyo asks Agent Saibu why the three can’t work alongside the ISA. Taiya on the other hand tries to be coy and insists his cooperation is conditional.

First, both parties must share intel with each other and have equal footing on such matters. Second, he will fight only with those he chooses to be his Rangers, meaning that Mira and Ishiro cannot be replaced. Agent Saibu asks why, no one asked them to fight so what point do they have involving themselves. Taiya says he can’t stand hearing the suffering screaming of others for one thing and the others back him up with Ishiro saying that Taiya is being serious and Mira says that she just chose to help others. All three of them are not working for the government, nobody will ever take the wheel away from them now or ever. Jyo is impressed but Agent Saibu gets a call about a Hashiryan attack before the discussion can continue. They turn on the TV to see citizens fleeing from Sauna Grumer as the reporter is on the scene with her camera crew. Sauna Grumer asks some Nejiretta to pour hot water over his head and that heats him up to create a wave of high humidity that makes people extremely hot and uncomfortable. The heat eventually gets too unbearable and the people try taking off layers of clothing to get relief but it is no use and they start screaming, which Sauna Grumer uses to fill himself with Ghassolin.

The reporter continues her coverage despite the heat, stating that she has received word that the area that they are standing in now has a dangerous temperature of over 176 degrees Fahrenheit. The Sanseater Trio get the attention of the camera crew to announce themselves to the world as invaders, doing their own little pose in the process. Yaiyai states that they are here to make Earth their territory as Decotrade and Itasha encourage the humans to scream more.

Upon hearing the cries of the tormented citizens, Taiya orders his team to head to the scene of the attack, only for Agent Saibu to order Officer Akuse to detain the three by blocking the door. Taiya tries to appeal to Jyo by asking if he can hear the screams of the people, but Agent Saibu holds firm in insisting that Jyo obeys her orders. Conflicted, Jyo doesn’t know what to do. Genba calls Taiya from the scene, asking him to do a delivery.

The boy that Mira saved earlier and his friend cries out for the Boonboomgers and so does the truck driver, the news reporter and the people nearby hear the name of the “tire people” and then cry in unison for the Boonboomgers to save them. Genba asks Taiya to deliver the Boonboomgers to the people at their request, Taiya smiles and accepts.

Agent Saibu warns them that the ISA will arrest the Rangers if they even dare to attempt leaving the garage as threats and enemies of the state and use whatever resources and other agencies aid to capture them. Taiya dares her to try, as the idea cranks him up, leaving the garage with Mira and Ishiro as Jyo stands aside. He goes with them and apologizes to Agent Saibu, but as a police officer he cannot let civilians get hurt and stand by idly as they suffer. She tries to stop him, but to no avail and Bun Bun tries to be nice to Agent Saibu by offering his BoonBoom Curry to eat for lunch while they wait for the others to return to the garage. She is surprised seeing the alien and doesn’t know what to make of him.

Sauna Grumer increases his heat, creating a larger amount of Ghassolin, which he is about to absorb until Taiya and the others arrive while Officer Akuse goes to check on the civilians. The three transform and do their roll call, which Jyo thinks is so cool while Genba leaves knowing everything is under control now. Upon seeing the heroes, the civilians calm down and cheer on the Boonboomgers, which causes the large miasma of Ghassolin to dissolve. Sauna Grumer is upset about this as Jyo uses the opportunity to help evacuate the civilians from the area. The Sanseater Trio are confused and upset by what just happened as the Boonboomgers prepare for battle.

Back at the garage, Agent Saibu has wolfed down the bowl of BoonBoom Curry and is on the phone with her superiors about the current situation, requesting advice from HQ on how to handle this. Bun Bun offers Agent Saibu some more curry as there is plenty for seconds.

The Nejiretta aid Sauna Grumer in battle, trying to use sauna bath towels to attack the Rangers. Taiya let them wrap the towels around his Boonboom Handle and then puts it on the ground and suspends himself in the air, using his boot wheels to mow down the grunts surrounding him. He then engages Sauna Grumer, shielding himself from an oncoming kick with the tires on his back and clashing his Boonboom Handle against Sauna Grumer’s Hisha Crusher. Ishiro swings around a single Nejiretta as cover while he shoots and Mira is placed in an awkward jump rope scenario with the Nejiretta, which she puts a stop to by shooting the grunts holding the connected towels. She then kicks one of the Nejiretta with her left foot and activates her boot wheel to propel it backward while she does a backflip and leans herself backwards to blast one behind her with the Boonboom Handle wheel’s high powered sonic horn.

Jyo is impressed by the Rangers, saying that they are being real heroes. Sauna Grumer and Taiya briefly engage in a towel fight before the former is kicked away and tries blasting them all with his heat. This makes the Boonboomgers feel weaker and uncomfortable in their suits, but Taiya goads Sauna Grumer by saying that the steam wasn’t hot enough. Sauna Grumer uses the Hisha Crusher to create energy projectile duplicates of his weapon to throw at the Rangers, which Taiya deflects and one lands in a nearby fountain. This sends a relieving splash of cold water raining down on the Boonboomgers, which enhances their power from the relaxing hot-cold bath.

The team does their own signature attacks: the Boonboom Driver Drive, the Boonboom Shoot Drive and the Boonboom Twist Drive to weaken Sauna Grumer, who gets sent flying around the Earth, slashed, shot at, and then manipulated and blown up with a sonic horn activated mine on his body. The team then ends the fight with the Bakuage Finish: Bakuage Handling Drive (sword version).

Yaiyai goes berserk again and absorbs the Gassholin that Sauna Grumer collected, then heads into Highway Space. Taiya calls Bun Bun to get ready to fight, who takes off his apron and gets ready to head for the hangar while Agent Saibu is continuing to enjoy her BoonBoom Curry while still on the phone, having already eaten three bowls worth and working on her fourth. Bun Bun gives her the fourth serving and pleads for her to chew the food this time instead of scarfing it down as he leaves.

Decotrade and Itasha sit down to watch Yaiyai race, who is excited that the Rangers are nowhere on the road. The two are concerned about how weird Yaiyai is acting, with Decotrade speculating that their comrade is being affected by the Gassholin somehow, followed by making a bad pun. The Rangers surprise ambush Yaiyai by dropping onto his head in their Boonboom Cars from atop the Boonboom Trailer, then Ishiro brakes and rams Yaiyai at full speed, spinning him out of control with Boonboom Trailer then quickly knocking Yaiyai off the road and out of Highway Space.

Sauna Grumer is revived and the team forms Boonboomger Robo, with the former powering himself up with hot water to increase his heat. Sauna Grumer then fans hot steam and burning coal ash with a towel to burn Bun Bun. Ishiro, who visits saunas three times a week, says the monster is a disgrace to what saunas are used for and has an idea on how to counter the Kuramaju. Taiya orders Mira to take away the hishaku and towel from Sauna Grumer, which she does by detaching the Boonboom Wagon from Boonboomger Robo and snatching the items with her vehicle’s claw, then docks back on again with Bun Bun. Taiya then asks Bun Bun to unscrew the armor off Sauna Grumer, who not only is now embarrassed to be naked, but is freezing cold from the spring air and cannot generate heat. The team then destroys Sauna Grumer with the Boonboom Finish.

Back at the garage, Agent Saibu has talked with her superiors and they agreed to Taiya’s conditions. The Boonboomgers will work alongside the government, not for them, in a cooperative relationship. Taiya shakes her hand and considers it an agreement, however, Agent Saibu has a condition that someone shall act as a monitor of their activities and report directly to the ISA. Taiya accepts this condition and chooses Jyo for the job, which everyone is surprised by but an annoyed Ishiro figures that this would happen. Jyo accepts his new role and swears that he will do his best to support the Boonboomgers. Agent Saibu is fine with this and will inform Jyo’s superiors in the police department about his new duties. Taiya and Jyo shake hands in agreement of their new partnership, which Bun Bun gets excited about, offering to throw a curry party for everyone. He invites Agent Saibu to join them, flattering her as a “pretty lady”, which makes her smile and blush. thinking that Bun Bun is a good kid. Mira almost catches her smiling and wonders what Agent Saibu was saying, but she recomposes herself to being serious and says that since she is already here she will accept the invitation. Mira offers to help Bun Bun make and serve the curry as the party starts.
