Bakuage 3: The Driver Won't Stop (運転屋が止まらない Unten-ya ga Tomaranai) is the third episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. It features the first appearance of Shirabe Saibu[1] and the full debut of Boonboom Classic and the Boonboomger Robo Nitoryuu.[2]
Synopsis[]
Mira has found herself a job as a courier. A boy asks her to carry a present for his grandmother, but Taiya won't lend her a car. "I'll take care of this myself!" Mira rides her bicycle to the boy's grandmother's house, but...!?
Plot[]
Taiya is working on his computer to operate the garage maintenance robot arms in order to finish the modifications to the Boonboom Classic, which Bun Bun says will get the both of them closer to their dream. Mira comes in holding a box, with Bun Bun wondering why she is at the garage as she should be at work. Mira says she is working and has a delivery.
She shows them the package, which contains a broken mirror. Her coworker’s son Hiroto sent the request as he made the mirror for his grandmother and after talking with him at her bakery job, she promised to deliver the mirror to Hiroto’s grandma at her “other job”. Taiya understands the assignment she took on and Bun Bun is moved to tears about how much Hiroto loves his grandma. However, Taiya believes she got caught up in the moment but Mira doesn’t care and wants to help anyway as she tapes the cardboard box closed. She tries to borrow the car, but Taiya snags away the keys and says that if she took on a job then she has to deliver it herself. Mira is understandably not thrilled about this.
At an abandoned apartment, the Sanseater Trio get a call from their boss Raid Team Captain Madrex, who is furious about them bungling their last job as he didn’t receive any Gassholin. Decotrade begs for forgiveness while Itasha blames Yaiyai for losing all the Gassholin and Decotrade joins in blaming poor Yaiyai. Irritated, Raid Team Captain Madrex emits fire from the screen and almost burns the three. He says that he still has an opportunity to move up in the ranks of the Space Mafia. But that is dependent on them and screams for them to get their act together and get more Gassholin. The three salute and Raid Team Captain Madrex says that they should show the Rangers not to mess with the Hashiryans as he signs off. The three lie down and sigh, with Decotrade saying to Itasha that they better get their butts in gear and grab the Gassholin. Itasha picks the grandfather clock in the apartment as the next Kurumaju and places her Ignition Key in it, with the clock becoming the Tokei Grumer.
Mira exits Taiya’s mansion and summons up the determination to figure out how to deliver the package. She pulls up the location of the home of Hiroto’s grandma on her Boonboom Changer, noticing that it is pretty far away. The Lollipop Man appears to offer assistance and introduces himself as “Genba from procurement”, giving the “new hire” a bicycle to help in her journey and a helmet because “safety first” and wishes Mira a safe trip.
Mira christens her bicycle the “Boonboom Cycle” and departs as Taiya and Bun Bun watch from the security cameras. Taiya thanks Genba for his service and gets an invoice from him, then gives Genba an envelope of money in exchange. Genba asks if he’s deliberately not helping so Mira can grind to gain more experience, which Taiya says it is something like that as he has high hopes for their “rising star”. Just as Genba is about to leave, Ishiro calls Taiya about the attacking Kurumaju. Genba says that does seem like a problem and walks off.
The Tokei Grumer is selectively targeting people and machines that are moving, expressing his resentment of when he was a clock as he was unable to function for a long time and wants to destroy everything that moves in an insane scheme of revenge. Tokei Grumer slashes two oncoming cars and destroys them with his clock hand blades and then destroys a van with one slash of his blade and it explodes. The Sanseater Trio cheer from the sidelines and are hoping to get lots of Gassholin from this Kurumaju, but Tokei Grumer gets irritated that they are moving and demands that they stay still. The Trio freeze in place, with Decotrade standing on one leg as he is frozen struggling to stay still. Tokei Grumer says he will cut the next thing he sees moving, only for Mira to pass by him on the Boonboom Cycle. Tokei Grumer tries to chase her but is immediately stopped by Taiya and Ishiro in Ranger form shooting him in the back. Ishiro says he was lucky enough to be in the area where the Kurumaju was rampaging and contact Taiya as the two engage the irritated clock, who is upset that the two Rangers are always moving.
Mira is trying to find her way through the industrial park and stops, realizing something as she looks at her Changer and turns her head. As the boys continue to fight Tokei Grumer, they notice he gets distracted by an airplane flying overhead and that he wants to knock it out of the sky. They restrain him and figure out the monster’s weakness is his obsession with movement, messing with him by only moving when Tokei Grumer isn’t looking. Their plan is ruined when Officer Akuse appears, who sees “more monsters and the Tire Humans again” and tries to get off of his bicycle. This irritates Tokei Grumer, who slices Officer Akuse’s bike in half, causing the panicked officer to pull out his gun demanding to know who or what they are and they should freeze as the two Rangers try to protect him from the attacking monster.
Despite seemingly coming back to help her Ranger co-workers, Mira races past them as she went in the wrong direction. This gets Tokei Grumer’s attention, with Taiya trying to keep him away from Mira while Ishiro tries to get Officer Akuse away from the fight. This proves difficult as the police officer demands to know what is going on and he still wants to arrest the Kurumaju for destroying official police property.
Mira has turned around again and stopped, which distracts everyone, complaining that the industrial park is hard to navigate as she pulls up the holographic map on her Changer. She notices everyone standing still in the middle of a fight until Tokei Grumer lunges towards her with Taiya trying to stop him. Officer Akuse is knocked down and accidentally fires off his gun in the air as Ishiro tries to keep him out of harm’s way.
Taiya calls to Mira, which she says she understands, she seems to raise her arm as if she is about to transform into Bun Pink, only to give a thumbs up and that she will do her best as she gets back on her bicycle and leaves. This confuses Taiya, who tries to tell her to come back only to be interrupted by continuing to try and keep Tokei Grumer away from her with Ishiro helping. Taiya thinks he understands what is going on, saying that Mira made things more interesting for them. Officer Akuse shouts and is ready to shoot the three for resisting arrest, firing two bullets that Tokei Gruner slices apart and then slices the barrel of the officer’s gun in half when Taiya pushes Officer Akuse out of the way of the oncoming sword beam. Ishiro then quickly uses the tires on the back of his suit to generate a shield that protects all three of them from another sword beam, only for Tokei Grumer to get away and continue chasing Mira. Officer Akuse is knocked out from hitting the ground but otherwise fine.
Bun Bun will try to track Tokei Grumer from the garage and report back to Taiya when he finds him. Taiya is counting on that since the monster is after Mira as he gets ready to get in the car, Ishiro asks how is he so sure of that, wondering if Taiya thinks she was trying to act as a decoy to lure Tokei Grumer away from the policeman. Taiya thinks that is exactly what happened, but Ishiro is doubtful. Taiya says that is why she is their rising star as she can act on her instinct. Mira is somewhere in the Japanese countryside pedaling like a madwoman to try and reach her destination as she screams in frustration. Taiya asks Ishiro if Mira is pretty interesting for doing this for them, the latter chuckles a bit as he doesn’t even know where to begin with him. Bun Bun contacts the two, saying that Tokei Grumer is closing in on Mira and that they need to hurry.
Ishiro still doesn’t trust Mira but he trusts Taiya’s judgment, which Taiya already knows and they both get in the car to save Mira.
A tired Mira pedals through a rough mountain bike trail with a hill, but pushes herself once on flatter ground to go faster as Tokei Grumer jogs closer towards her screaming for her to quit moving. She screams for him to leave her alone and give it a rest already, entering a quarry and Tokei Grumer trips on the pebble covered ground. He then tries to use sword beam attacks to destroy her, but misses several times as she dodges the explosions until an explosion in front of Mira knocks her off her bicycle. The package falls out of the basket and Mira gets up to check on it, only for Tokei Grumer to insist she doesn’t move as he prepares to try and kill her. Thankfully, the boys arrive just in time in Boonboom SuperCar hovering in the air and using a bit of its hood rocket booster like a pressurized cannon blast to send the Kurumaju flying. The car lands with Mira thanking them for saving her and Taiya praises her for the brilliant decoy strategy, only to see the confusion on her face and a bit of awkward silence as she says she thought what Taiya wanted was that she continue the delivery as they took care of the monster as he told her she had to do the delivery all by herself. Ishiro is dissatisfied that she wasn’t acting as decoy, since that proved Taiya is wrong about his own judgment sometimes.
But Taiya takes in stride and has a good laugh about it, saying this cranked him up as the honesty, the lack of gravitas and the absurdity of the whole day made Mira defy his expectations and that is what he likes about her. Ishiro sighs, saying no wonder he likes her. Mira is confused about what both of them are talking about, with Taiya simply saying that they are glad to have her on the team. Tokei Grumer recovers as the trio transform and do their roll call, which annoys the evil clock even further. Taiya and Ishiro lead the fight while Mira follows, with Taiya looking out for her by moving her out of the way of Ishiro’s fire and making her duck while he shoots. Tokei Grumer tries to use a X shaped cross sword beam, but Ishiro and Taiya boost to super speed to dodge while Mira boost jumps. The boys hit the clock from both sides with their boot wheels, launching their opponent into the air for Mira to slam down with an aerial bonk to the head. The trio then finish off Tokei Grumer with the sword version of the Bakuage Finish: Bakuage Handling Drive.
Back in the Industrial Park, The Sanseater Trio are still trying to remain still, unaware that Tokei Grumer was defeated but unsure if they are allowed to move despite their arms and legs getting tired from being stuck in the same exact position. Yaiyai goes berserk again and flies off to collect the Gassholin despite Decotrade and Itasha telling him to come back, with Decotrade almost falling off the building from his leg dangling off it. Yaiyai absorbs the Gassholin at the quarry and heads off into Highway Space, with Mira annoyed that they have to do this again as Taiya calls Bun Bun to get everything ready. The Rangers enter Highway Space in their Boonboom Cars and Decotrade and Itasha finally move around, sitting down to watch Yaiyai race again and cheering him on as they say he had better win this time.
The Boonboomgers box in Yaiyai, who tries swerving wildly and bumping them to get them off the road or sandwich Wagon and Off-Road into Boonboom Trailer. He demands to pass by them, which Taiya agrees to since Yaiyai has “the right of way”. This turned out to be a dirty trick as Yaiyai careens towards the edge of an elevated turn lane, tries to stop, but falls off the road and out of Highway Space with Decotrade and Itasha mortified they lost again. Yaiyai expels the Gassholin and revives Tokei Grumer as a giant with the Boonboomgers forming Boonboomger Robo to combat the clock gone cuckoo.
The fight proves difficult since Tokei Grumer’s dual swords put the team at a disadvantage. Taiya tries to suggest that they unscrew Tokei’s armor like they did with Wedding Dress using their screwdriver blade, only to discover that the old clock’s screws are rusted on and cannot be removed. Tokei Grumer uses its secret sword technique Art of the Clock: 10:10 Strike to damage Boonboomger Robo. Ishiro suggests now might be the time to use “it”, with Taiya agreeing that they need two sword style combat to defeat another two sword style user. He pulls out the Boonboom Classic mini car and summons Boonboom Classic from Highway Space.
Taiya switches out of Boonboom Trailer to Boonboom Classic and Bun Bun quickly activates Gate Mode to bring it to their location and shift it into Attack Mode, a large secondary blade, then links up with it to become Boonboomger Robo Nitoryuu.
Mira and Ishiro love the new weapon and Taiya says this will be their first time wielding two weapons. The fight turns in their favor and despite Tokei Grumer trying to use the 10:10 Strike again, the Boonboomgers counter it with their own version, the 9:15 Strike Boonboom Finish. This sends Tokei Grumer’s attack right back at him and destroys him for good.
Mira finally arrives at the home of Hiroto’s Grandma, who loves her grandson’s present despite the cracked mirror. She thanks Mira for the delivery and persistently invites her into the house to have some tea with Mira continually and politely turning down the offer. Taiya watches and is satisfied that Mira managed to complete the delivery on her own, with Ishiro and him getting back in the car as Mira continues to politely decline offers to come inside the old woman’s house.
Officer Akuse carries the front half of his police bicycle back to his station, sulking that he will probably have to do paperwork when he gets inside and is upset about his bike. He enters the station after putting his half bike away, wondering what the deal is with those “Tire Humans”, only for a voice inside to say they are called the Boonboomgers. Officer Jyo Akuse is startled, seeing a stern and intimidating government agent, who approaches him and demands information regarding the mysterious tire people since he has encountered them.
