Bakuage 2: The Informant Does Not Approve (情報屋は認めない Jōhō-ya wa Mitomenai) is the second episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. It features the debut of Raid Team Captain Madrex, albeit as a voice appearance.
Synopsis[]
Mira is accepted by Hando and becomes a member of the Boonboomgers. However, his fellow member, Ishiro, does not approve of Mira. Mira and Ishiro, who seem to be incompatible with each other, are once again interrupted by the Hashiryan while carrying a "delivery full of secrets"...!?
Plot[]
Mira walks towards Taiya’s home, only to be shocked that he owns a large mansion with a pool. She wonders just how much money does Taiya have to afford a place like this as she walks around the pool, then triggers some kind of hidden elevator with her Boonboom Changer that takes her down into the secret underground garage of the Boonboomgers.
Down in the garage, after using the Boonboom Handle to change the oil of his car, Taiya gets briefed by Ishiro about their next job: they have to escort top secret documents from an ambassador who represents their certain country for Japan to their president who is visiting in Japan in secret. The client wants the mission covert and for absolutely no leaks to occur. Taiya thinks that is a lot of secrecy but accepts the job, Ishiro thinks that if two countries cannot discuss these matters in the open then it is.. only to be interrupted by Mira who says that means it is a matter of national security. She gets excited as this is exactly like a spy movie and makes gun fingers and pretends to shoot.
Annoyed, Ishiro asks what she is doing in the garage, Mira says she is here because she is a Boonboomger, but Ishiro refuses to acknowledge her as one. Bun Bun finishes making curry and offers everyone to help themselves to it for lunch but walks in on the awkward silence and tension in the garage.
Mira is served Bun Bun’s BoonBoom Curry, a curry served with a square of rice and four half cut eggs that gives the rice a resemblance to a car. She finds it delicious and compliments Bun Bun on his cooking and he is flattered, saying that Taiya and Ishiro are kind of dry on the compliments. She finds it amazing a robot can cook curry and transform into a truck or a larger robot. Taiya corrects her, Bun Bun is not a robot, with him admitting he is an alien. Taiya says he found Bun Bun after an accident when he crashed on Earth, after that the two became friends and now Bun Bun is a part of the team. Mira asks if the Hashiryans are aliens too, which Bun Bun confirms and they are part of the Space Mafia, a collection of various criminals from a wide variety of planets. The Space Mafia is working to expand their territory across the universe.
At a warehouse, Decotrade opens an intergalactic communications channel to his boss: Commander Raid Team Captain Madrex of the Hashiriyan Expeditionary Force. Decotrade and Itasha promise Madrex that they are working on claiming Earth as part of the Space Mafia’s territory and that Madrex will have access to a vast supply of Gassholin when they are done. Madrex sounds pleased and allows them to continue their work, but warns them that they had better not make him look like a fool to his superiors. The two agree, salute and sign off, then all of the Sanseaters Trio celebrate their boss’s approval and get to work. Itasha searches the area for an object to make into a Kurumaju, finding a wand vacuum and deciding to transform it into the Soujiki Grumer with her Ignition Key. Decotrade is excited at how much the humans will scream seeing this monster, only for Soujiki Grumer to start wildly sucking up objects and almost pull the Sanseaters into its vacuum hose.
Back in the garage, Mira has just finished being informed about the situation, they must defend Earth from the Space Mafia. She asks Bun Bun if he developed the gear and vehicles of the Boonboomgers, to which Taiya says it is a culmination of the dreams of both him and Bun Bun. Before Mira can ask what that dream is, Ishiro interrupts, telling Taiya he doesn’t accept Mira as a team member because of how flippant she seems. Taiya wonders if Ishiro objects even though he already decided she is a member of the team, which Ishiro is hesitant to answer. Taiya says it is time to get the package from the client and orders Ishiro to bring Mira with him so she can learn the ropes about being on the team. Ishiro isn’t keen on this idea but Taiya says that whatever he likes hasn’t failed him before yet.
Ishiro flashes back to being on his knees with Taiya pointing the Boonboom Handle in gun mode at Ishiro’s head and then lowering it, offering him a job as he likes the way he works and reaching his hand out to help Ishiro up. He says it is unfair when Taiya says he likes something, then reluctantly tells Mira to come with him. Bun Bun has the impression that those two will not get along and asks Taiya what the plan is. Taiya says that “Chasshiro” is just not used to being around people like Mira but it should prove interesting to see what happens.
Mira is drinking iced tea as they wait for their client, then asks why Ishiro is working for Taiya if he is a skilled information broker, but Ishiro doesn’t want to discuss personal matters or be friendly with Mira. He sees the package, but before they can move to get the briefcase with the documents, the Soujiki Grumer sucks it up into its body and deposits it in the dust canister on its right arm. Mira attempts to transform, but Ishiro stops her as they cannot be hasty in this situation. A police officer arrives at the scene on his bicycle, only to have said bicycle and his helmet stolen by the Soujiki Grumer while he hangs on for dear life on a lamppost trying not to get sucked in. Ishiro was observing the Kurumaju to see what abilities it had, now knowing that it uses some kind of cyclone effect to create powerful suction. Mira doesn’t care as the police officer needs their help as Officer Akuse is about to lose his grip on the lamppost and get sucked in.
Fed up with waiting, Mira transforms into Bun Pink to rescue Officer Akuse by kicking the Soujiki Grumer to shut off its vacuum and urges the policeman to get to safety. Officer Akuse is shocked to see a “tire human” and gets knocked out cold by a falling sign. Soujiki Grumer resumes its attempt to suck up Officer Akuse with Mira desperately trying to hold onto the policeman, even using her boot wheels to try and go in reverse to keep from falling into the vacuum. She pleads for Ishiro to do something, since they need to get the documents back anyways, but is shocked to see that he seemingly abandoned her. Soujiki Grumer increases his suction power and Mira loses her grip on her Boonboom Handle, only for Taiya to come in and kick Soujiki Grumer, then grabs the weapon and strikes the Kurumaju sending it tumbling back. Free from the vacuum, Mira quickly carries the unconscious Officer Akuse to a safe place, though she complains how heavy he is while doing so. Taiya gives Mira back her Boonboom Handle and she informs him that Ishiro ditched her. He thinks for a moment and then understands what is going on, saying it is time to get cranked up. Mira feels the exact opposite way after her ordeal, when a voice says that they look like they could use help.
The man with the lollipop appears, scaring Mira who asks who he is, Taiya says that the man “works in procurement”, with him understanding the assignment and heading out to do what is required. A flustered Mira is completely in the dark as to what is going on, with Taiya saying he will explain later as he changes into Bun Red. The Sanseater Trio are watching and encourage Soujiki Grumer to defeat and suck up the Boonboomgers. An over enthusiastic Itasha is waving around a scrub brush and accidentally scrubs Yarucar's eyes who begs her to stop.
Soujiki Grumer proves difficult for the two Rangers as his thick armor repels their sword slashes and his vacuum sucks up the bullets that they fire from their guns. Mira tries to rush him, but Soujiki Grumer emits a reverse suction from his mouth that fires a powerful wind that blows both her and Taiya back. Taiya says that it is almost time and uses his boot wheels to create a counter vortex and waits for an opening, then while Mira is trying to fend off Soujiki Grumer, he drifts at full speed and then strikes the monster from behind. Boonboom Wagon arrives in Attack Mode, the side panel pops up and sends Soujiki Grumer flying into the vehicle, who gets trapped in a pincer hold between the shovel and the panel. Taiya thanks Ishiro for the save as Bun Blue drives off and the two Rangers go after him. Officer Akuse wakes up just after they leave.
Boonboom Wagon drops off Soujiki Grumer at the city dump, who is elated at seeing all the trash he can clean up, sucking all of it up without thinking and getting his vacuum hose clogged. Taiya says that this went exactly as he hoped it would and steals the dust canister, retrieving the package, ordering Ishiro to attack. Ishiro energizes one of his boot tires as he leaps and hurls it at Soujiki Grumer, sending him flying into another mound of trash. Mira wants to know how and when they had a plan, which Taiya and Ishiro explained they had a plan since she went rushing in to save the police officer. Ishiro observed that the vacuum had powerful suction so it would be very easy to clog it, Taiya says that is Ishiro’s specialty, observing the enemy and creating a counter solution. While Mira was dealing with Soujiki Grumer, Ishiro changed into Bun Blue, used Boonboom Wagon to prepare to drive the monster to the dump and the lollipop man procured the legal papers from the owner so Taiya could purchase the Hisato Recycling Center as his property…though not without the lollipop man discussing his cut of the payment for the transaction.
Mira is flabbergasted that Taiya now owns the land that they are standing on and is impressed, but Taiya says she is impressive as well as she earned Ishiro’s respect (which is a lie because Ishiro is confused). Taiya says Ishiro trusted her to buy time for him to get the Boonboom Wagon, which means he accepts her being on the team. Ishiro tries to object but just resigns to being complimented by Mira. Soujiki Grumer finally gets out of the trash pile and calls for a platoon of Nejirettas, with the Boonboomgers doing their roll call, hyping up Bun Bun and they get to work ”cleaning”. They clear out the Neijirettas with some turbo boosted super speed and Mira comically gets behind one, tapping its shoulder and then bonks its head with her Boonboom Handle. The Soujiki Grumer tries to use its brush attachment to fire feather duster projectiles, but the Ranger trio effortlessly dodge them with their speed boost on. The team finishes off Soujiki Grumer with a gun variation of the Bakuage Finish: Bakuage Handle Drive.
Yarucar goes berserk again and absorbs the Gassholin, then heads into Highway Space. Ishiro says that they need to get the package to its destination, but Taiya says no job takes priority over another as they are deliverymen and Boonboomgers. Ishiro wishes that Taiya would tone down his “fired up” act, with Mira encouraging him to join them to save the day. Ishiro agrees and Taiya calls Bun Bun to get ready as they all enter Highway Space in their Boonboom Cars.
Yarucar tries to ambush them from behind, with Decotrade and Itasha watching and supporting from the sidelines asking Yarucar to use missiles against the Boonboomgers, though Itasha accidentally hits Decotrade in the head with a punch that was supposed to be a fist pump. Yarucar fires the missiles, forcing the Rangers to dodge until Taiya gives the signal to Ishiro, who hard brakes backwards and ends up with Yarucar in front of him. He then stamps on the gas pedal and sends Yarucar careening into the ramp of Boonboom Trailer and then flung on top of him, then flung far away out of Highway Space with a hard drift to the left. Yarucar expels the Gassholin and the Soujiki Grumer revives as a giant, excited to be able to clean again, but then gets distracted by a smokestack being dirty and uses his feather duster attachment to clean it. Bun Bun changes into Gate Mode and the team gets their cars into Attack Mode, combining into Boonboomger Robo.
Bun Bun almost runs through a red light but stops just in time, both because he is at the red light and because he almost crashed into Soujiki Grumer. Soujiki Grumer wants to dust the dirt off of Boonboomger Robo, which makes Bun Bun ticklish and Taiya scolds him to get it together. Bun Bun tries to repel the Kurumaju but then gets violently thrashed by the duster attachment and then Soujiki Grumer tries to suck him in, but Taiya says that they should let themselves get sucked in. They get pulled in and then separate into their individual vehicles, crushing Soujiki Grumer with Boonboom Trailer, then reassemble back into Boonboomger Robo. A few sword slashes and a kick later, the team finishes off Soujiki Grumer for good with the Boonboom Finish.
Taiya and crew deliver the package to the president, only to discover that the classified document was a photo of the president with a catgirl maid named Momo-chan. The president talks to the photograph, saying he will do his best for her in the next election and shows the picture off to the three. The trio of heroes later stand outside, bewildered by what they had to go through and what the package was. Ishiro saying that it is no wonder that package was top secret, with Taiya apologizing to Ishiro, not knowing that it would be “that kind of privacy”. Mira on the other hand says that this hands on experience has made her love her new job. Ishiro smiles and walks away, but Mira wonders where he is going as Bun Bun made some curry back at the garage. Taiya says he will meet with them when he gets done with whatever business he has as they both get in the car and head back home.
