Bakuage 1: Deliverer's Handle (届け屋のハンドル Todoke-ya no Handoru) is the first episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. This is the start of the first arc of the Boonboomger Saga.[1]
Synopsis[]
This time, the "deliverer" Taiya Hando is carrying a bride, Mira Shifuto! After taking Mira out of the church, Taiya escapes from his pursuers and encounters the "Hashiriyan," a large cosmic invasion force. Hashiriyan's purpose is to collect humans' scream energy "Ghassolin". In order to protect people from the Hashiriyan, Taiya changes into Bun Red and fights...!
Plot[]
A red sports car drives down to a church and parks, with its driver exiting the vehicle and then entering said church. He then abducts the unhappy bride, Mira, from her wedding and drives off with the groom, his father and his subordinates in pursuit. Mira is shocked by all this and asks who the man is and why he’s doing this, he says he is just a delivery man. A voice on a watch-like device is singing about curry as they drive along, with the man, Taiya, reporting in that he has secured the “package”, another voice tells him that the Aori Family is right behind them (implying that Mira was forced into marriage to the son of a Yakuza boss). Taiya says she was going to marry a real piece of work but he has rescued her on behalf of his client, her actual boyfriend, who instructed him to take her to the airport so they could run away from the mob and live happily together. Mira is not enthused by this news, as while she is okay with not marrying the mob boss’s son, she doesn’t like that she has no control over the situation.
The Aori family catches up to them, with Taiya saying he always gets a job done no matter what, asking “Chasshiro” to help him locate a faster route to the airport and escape the thugs. A robot is making curry near Ishiro, who asks what is wrong when he stops searching for routes. Ishiro’s monitor detects an anomaly heading for Taiya’s SuperCar. A large monster car with two alien gangsters on top of it races through the Aori Family, decimating their vehicles. Taiya asks “Bun Bun” if he has a visual on what he sees, with the robot confirming that they are indeed Hashiroyans. Taiya says that they finally made it to Earth after all, with Mira confused as to what he is talking about. The two stop pursuing one another long enough to let an old lady cross the street and then resume their chase.
The female gangster, Itasha, sees Mira’s wedding dress and wants to “send it on the road”, pleading Decotrade to have it. He agrees to it being their first act on this planet and they will “fix it up good”. The car chase gets more intense, as Taiya tries to avoid being run off the road and shot at, eventually turning his car backwards and using his watch device to activate a booster rocket under the hood to fly off into the air. A young man with an orange lollipop witnesses them get serious airtime from a rooftop, hearing Mira screaming all the while, praising Taiya for the amazing customization of the car. As the car falls back down to Earth, the booster is disengaged and hover thrusters around the wheels slow their descent to safely land on the road again. Mira is worn down from stress because of all the excitement and Taiya decides that maybe they should take a small detour, stopping at a clothing store. He pulls out his credit card and tells the owner and employees that he will “buy the whole store” and Mira can have whatever she wants to wear as she should toss away her wedding dress so that the Hashiriyans cannot get it. Mira refuses to throw away her dress, which Taiya is fine with and he will wait outside until she is done changing.
Ishiro is wondering what the holdup is, as they have a deadline to keep, with Taiya saying that “something interesting” happened. Ishiro understands and heads to him, with the robot wishing him a safe trip. Mira finishes getting dressed in her new clothes while looking at her wedding dress, it seems to be important to her as she thinks about what Taiya said about her not liking having control of her life taken away from her. Mira prepares to leave the dressing room, but Itasha was waiting for her and places a strange key into Mira’s wedding dress. This turns it into a monster and Mira screams in terror, which alerts Taiya to what is going on and he sees the Wedding Dress Grumer entrap terrified civilians in wedding dresses with a beam that increasingly smothers them in dresses with each beam. Decotrade is excited, encouraging the humans to scream even more to create “Gassholin” to turbocharge their monsters. Wedding Dress Grumer grows stronger with every scream he absorbs, as his inner tank fills up. Itasha declares that Earth is now their gang’s turf as she summons foot soldiers called Nejirettas from screws she was carrying to create more screaming by attacking civilians.
Mira tries to go after Wedding Dress Grumer, but Taiya stops her, she explains the reason she didn’t want to throw away her dress is because it belonged to her grandmother and is a memento of her. Understanding how special it is now, Taiya asks Bun Bun if he can recover the dress, which the robot confirms he can if the monster is defeated. Taiya then promises to get the dress back for Mira free of charge, saying that he just wants to help her. Using the watch called the Boonboom Changer, he presses the trigger thrice and slides it on his arm to become what Mira describes as a “Tire Man”, Bun Red.
The Red Ranger attacks his foes with blistering speed and dodges enemy fire with super agility, the wheels on his suit being used as turbo roller blades, a rear defensive energy shield and launcher for catapulting Wedding Dress. Bun Red impresses Mira, who watches his fight. Taiya radios Ishiro to take care of the package while he handles the Hashiriyans, with Ishiro taking Mira to Taiya’s car to get her to the airport. Wedding Dress tries to go after Mira, but Taiya prevents him from getting anywhere near her.
As they drive, Mira is sick of people making decisions for her and decides to “take the wheel for herself” by wanting to help Taiya, grabbing Ishiro’s Boonboom Changer and triggering the SuperCar’s hood rocket to fly back to the battlefield. The car lands right inbetween Bun Red and Wedding Dress, with Mira declaring that she wants to fight with Taiya and she will decide where she wants to be. Seeing her determination, he accepts her choice and gives her the spare Boonboom Changer in the glove compartment. Ishiro isn’t happy about this but decides to go along with it for now, as both of them transform into Bun Blue and Pink. Bun Bun is pumped at this development and says that now is the time to do “the thing”. Ishiro is embarrassed and asks if they really have to, but Taiya agrees that it is time as the Boonboomgers perform their first roll call.
The Hashiriyan Trio are bewildered to witness the strange Earthlings who are ruining their fun as each of the Rangers gets to work clearing out the Neijirettas. Mira is having the time of her life in her first battle and Taiya calls everyone together to finish off Wedding Dress with their combined attack, the Bakuage Finish: Bakuage Handling Drive. Yaiyai Yarucar acts strangely, with his eyes turning red and he races to absorb the Gassholin, then enters Highway Space in an effort to make the defeated Kurumaju grow giant. The Boonboomgers call for their BoonBoom Cars and for Bun Bun to come aid them as the Boonboom Trailer. Bun Bun introduces himself as Bundorio to Mira and says he is glad she is with them, though she is surprised by the fact that she is talking to a car, which excites her even more. They race through Highway Space to try and catch Yaiyai, who launches bombs at them while cackling like a maniac. Outside back on Earth, Decotrade and Itasha wonder what is wrong with Yarucar, as he never acted like this before, but then decide to cheer him on as he races.
Mira decides to turbo jump in her Boonboom Wagon, getting ahead of the bombs and then tries ramming Yarucar from the side, but gets sandwiched between him and the guardrails. She shifts her vehicle and does a stunt flip, landing on the other side and successfully rams Yaiyai into the guardrail and into a spin out. Ishiro is impressed with her driving skills and so is Taiya. Bundorio goes into a slide, using his trailer to send Yarucar flying off the Highway and back into the real world where he expels the Gassholin and shrinks back to normal as Wedding Dress Grumer revives as a giant. Taiya calls for everyone to combine, with Bundorio changing into Gate Mode to make Boonboon Off-Road and Boonboon Wagon change into their Attack Modes and then becoming Boonboomger Robo, attaching the two vehicles to his arms to complete the transformation.
They wait for a car at a crossing to pass and then when it safely leaves the area, Boonboomger Robo engages the Wedding Dress Grumer and knocks the monster into the steel frame of a building under construction. Upon getting closer and scanning Wedding Dress, Bundorio detects the screws on his armor and uses Boonboomger Robo’s screwdriver blade to dismantle it. This causes the dress to fall off the Grumer, who gets embarrassed that he is naked. Mira then uses the broken down girders to build a wedding cake prison to entrap the "naked" Kurumaju and “slices the cake” with their Robo’s finisher: the Boonboom Finish. Upon the Grumer being destroyed, the wedding dresses that trapped everyone disappear and Mira’s grandmother’s wedding dress is returned to normal. Yarucar wakes up with no memory of what happened while he was under the influence of Gassholin.
Mira shocks her boyfriend by saying she wants to stay in Tokyo and break up with him as she has decided to become a superhero, a member of the Boonboomgers. Ishiro refuses to accept this is how the job ends, but Taiya is fine with it, the job is done but the delivery got “re-routed” to the Boonboomgers.
