Bakuage 16: Purple Settler (ムラサキの始末屋 Murasaki no Shimatsu-ya) is the sixteenth episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. It features the debuts of Sakito Homura/Bun Violet and Byun Diesel.
Synopsis[]
A mysterious man, Sakito Homura, who claims to be a “Settler,” appeared in front of the Boonboomgers! Moreover, Sakito has changed into “Bun Violet” who looks just like the Boonboomgers...!? Is he a friend or foe...!?
Plot[]
The Boonboomger team is in Highway Space practicing for the Big Bang Grand Prix, with Mira resorting to using Boonboom Shovel’s abilities to cheat her way ahead of the others. Taiya manages to sneak up behind her in Boonboom Racing and then activates the Bakuage Burner to boost into first place. The five are having fun competing but they then get a call from Agent Saibu informing them that the ISA has detected an unknown object entering Earth’s atmosphere and it is coming fast. The object then enters Highway Space and comes up behind the team, a glowing machine of some sort, then blazes past the BoonBoom Cars at lightning speed with a gust of air in its wake sending them all flying and flipping over.
Back at the garage, Bun Bun is trying to fix the damage to the Cars while everyone else is patching up the minor injuries they received from their crashes. Agent Saibu asks Taiya if they got a visual of the unidentified object, but Taiya says even with maximum resolution and enhancements from their camera footage, they still can’t make out what the thing was. What was really odd was that the UFO and the strange vehicle according to ISA scans was that both were giving off the same frequency of an energy signature as that of the Boonboomger gear and vehicles, which Bun Bun says is called the Boonboom Signal and all the stuff he makes has that energy signature. He is confused as to why these things have that as he doesn’t remember building anything like this vehicle.
Ishiro tables the discussion about the mystery vehicle to ask Agent Saibu about the other UFO from earlier, which the ISA first detected after Mad Rex was defeated. She thinks it is not related to the one that they detected just now but despite not knowing what it is, the satellites tracking it have confirmed it has landed on Earth.
In a warehouse, Cannonborg is fuming and pacing around complaining about something being late to arrive. The Trio check to see what is wrong and ask their commander if he’s hangry despite having already eaten lunch earlier. Cannonborg threatens to modify them for asking such a stupid question but YaiYai talks back saying why doesn’t Cannonborg modify himself to not be so grouchy. Decotrade and Ittasha panic and tell Yaiyai to be quiet but all three get punished by Cannonborg with a blast from his puppet for back talking. He explains that he contacted Hashiryan HQ for a request to have a certain item delivered to aid in their conquest of Earth.
On a rooftop somewhere in the city, a mysterious Ranger and a Bun Bun-like alien are observing the skyline. The alien asks the Ranger how he feels about returning to his homeworld after such a long time away while holding something in a chained up burlap sack. The Ranger says he feels nothing special but soon gets excited about a Boonboom Signal detection from an odd looking game controller that he is holding and wants to check it out. The alien called “Byundi” says that they can but asks about the delivery they are supposed to be doing, but the Ranger says it can wait and he really doesn’t care as he always makes sure to “run towards chaos” and leaps off the roof.
In a park, a young boy is crying because his yellow balloon has floated away from him and got stuck in a tree. His mother tells him not to cry and she can buy him another one, but Officer Akuse, being the kind soul he is, offers to climb the tree and get the balloon back. The mother thinks that is too dangerous but Jou says that it isn’t a problem as he starts to climb, only for a purple streak of lightning to zip around and then a man emerges from it falling down with the balloon in his hand. He gives it to the boy, with the mother thanking the stranger, who pats the boy’s head and smiles while Jou climbs back down. Jou tries to thank the stranger as well for helping but the purple jacket wearing stranger says there is no need to as he is the “top guy”.
Mira is working at a restaurant for another part time gig as a waitress, cleaning up a table’s dirty cups and as she carries them, she trips from walking over some spilled coffee. The stranger uses superhuman speed to catch Mira and then the falling tray and dishes with his great reflexes. The restaurant customers applaud the man’s efforts and Mira thanks him, with him saying she should be more careful while flirting by calling her “sweetheart”.
Genba is about to deliver something to a client, only for the man to stop him and say he has already taken Genba’s “checkered flag”. The item the client wanted has already been delivered by the mystery man, meaning Genba will not get paid for an item that the client already has which the client apologizes for.
Ishiro is walking around the city and he suddenly senses that he’s being tailed, which causes him to duck into an alley with his Changer and activate a boost in civilian mode to lose whomever is following him. This proves ineffective as the mystery man finds Ishiro, saying he has already “lapped him”.
In a parking garage, Taiya has finished another delivery, heading to his car and he then suddenly stops, saying that the person behind him was too late as he made the delivery before he did. He demands to know who the mystery man is and why he is hassling his comrades and what he wants as he comes out of hiding. The man pops his neck and uses a boost to try to kick Taiya in the face, but Taiya dodges it, only to suddenly have the man pointing a crossbow right at the back of his head ready to fire.
The mystery man says that this has all been his way of saying “hello” to the entire team but he sees all of them as disappointing and none of them have exceeded his expectations. Taiya thinks the man is cocky for believing he has already won, swiftly grabbing and trying to disarm him, then both are at a standoff with their weapons pointed at each other. Seeing Taiya’s amused expression despite threatening him, the man stands down and walks away, introducing himself as Sakito Homura and tells Taiya to remember that name. Sakito then uses his device to speed away from Taiya, which Bun Bun recognizes from security footage as the Boonboom Controller.
Back at the Warehouse, the Trio are playing cards when Sakito and Byundi walk in to deliver the sack. The Trio panic at the sight of a Boonboomger, with the two wondering if there is a problem with that, Yaiyai notices that the one that they are with has a different color than the others as Decotrade and Ittasha cautiously approach Sakito. Ittasha even notices that the words “Boonboomger” are on this Ranger’s suit, with Sakito asking in a flirtatious way if the “kitten” knows about other Boonboomgers on Earth. Ittasha angrily pushes away his advances and says that there are five more like Sakito, which Decotrade adds that they are nuisances who prevent them from claiming Earth as their territory.
This intrigues Sakito and Byundi, but their interactions are interrupted by an irritated Cannonborg, who was tired of waiting for his package from the self proclaimed “greatest delivery man in the universe”. Sakito says he’s not exactly that, he is the universe’s greatest “Settler”, wether it be cheaply paid dirty deeds, vendettas or unveiling secrets, whatever the job is he will make sure it is covered either publicly or on the down low. He was hired by Hashiryan HQ for the task of delivering the item and Byundi tosses the sack to Ittasha, while Yaiyai notices that Decotrade has a playing card stuck in his grill.
Cannonborg asks how everyone at HQ is doing, with Sakito saying that they are doing fine and they entrust their custom captain to do a good job of capturing the Earth. Cannonborg excitedly opens his package, a legendary sword that was forged on the planet Reflector. Cannonborg was about to regale in the legends of the sword to Sakito and Byundi, only to see the two have left already. The Trio are surprised by how fast they left but Cannonborg clears his throat and asks Ittasha if she would please use an Ignition Key, which she does and creates the Sword Grumer.
Back at the garage, Bun Bun analyses the footage and realizes that the signal they detected in Highway Space was the Boonboom Controller. Taiya asks Bun Bun if he made that device, to which he says that he did. Back when Bun Bun was a racer in the BBG, in order to improve his speed he developed the Controller. But he couldn’t handle its power and gave up, throwing the device in the trash. Genba then asks the obvious, if that is the case, how did a human come into possession of it? Ishiro looks up any information about Sakito Homura with Agent Saibu, discovering that a 10 year old boy with that name ended up on a missing persons list years ago. But Saibu says that there is no proof to confirm that boy is the man that they encountered just yet. But there is no time to investigate further as Taiya gets an alert that the Hashiryan are attacking the city.
Sword Grumer is chasing civilians and wrecking buildings with a platoon of Nejiretta, one of which catches a helpless bystander and begins beating them with its weapon as the humans all scream in fear creating Ghassolin. Sword absorbs it and then corners the fleeing crowd to make them scream more as he gets stronger from the Ghassolin. Taiya and company arrive to fight off the Nejiretta with Jou and Mira directing the civilians to safety. The Nejiretta try to rush the heroes but they transform into the Boonboomgers and do a roll call while moving around in combat, which ends with all the Nejiretta destroyed. The team then tries to engage Sword, but he proves more difficult than they realize as their attacks make him stronger by absorbing damage and using it to increase his attack power. Taiya tries to utilize a strategy of attacking quickly with rapid fire from their guns so that Sword has no time to absorb the damage but this proves ineffective as it also makes Sword stronger.
As Sword increases in strength, he gains new combat abilities and easily begins taking down the Boonboomgers, with Taiya the last one still standing. He is flung into the air by Sword’s strength and quickly summons a tire to cushion his fall, with the Rangers regrouping. Cannonborg makes himself known to the Boonboomgers, with the Trio surprised he is there considering his usual habit of working behind the scenes. Agent Saibu and Bun Bun then figure out that Cannonborg was the UFO they detected when Mad Rex was defeated. The custom chief gloats now that Sword Grumer has a large amount of Ghassolin in his body, his ability will make his strength increase exponentially upon every attack and thanks the Boonboomgers for helping him achieve this result. He came out of hiding to witness his experiment’s success, with Sword resuming his attack on the Rangers.
Taiya tries to boost his power and face Sword by himself, but Sakito arrives and uses his super speed to knock Taiya, Sword and the Boonboomgers away. Cannonborg and the Trio wonder who the human is, which amuses Sakito as they don’t recognize him in this form, he transforms with the Boonboom Controller into the Ranger from before with a bombastic shower of purple lightning bolts. The team is shocked by this development, Jou is in disbelief that the person antagonizing them was a Boonboomger and Mira is equally surprised to see another “tire human”. Sakito says he is nothing like them, he is the universe’s greatest Settler, Bun Violet.
Cannonborg is interested in this new Ranger and observes while the Trio kick themselves knowing that they were right that the Ranger was trouble. Sword engages Sakito, who uses his superior speed and his crossbow weapon to dodge Sword and strikes him repeatedly in the same spot. This only makes Sword stronger at first, but then after Sakito uses Boonboom Controller’s Gatling Mode to repeatedly strike the arm blades and rams him with a tire enhanced double kick, Sword’s arm blades break off.
Sakito then destroys Sword with his finisher: The Byun Byun Arrow Drive. Sword reverts back into the legendary sword of Reflector upon exploding, which Cannonborg retrieves and is satisfied with the results. He says that with the Ghassolin stored up and the sharpening of the sword as a Grumer, things will turn out amazing for him as he leaves.
Sakito unmorphs and tells Taiya that for helping out, it will cost him. Taiya asks what exactly does he want as payment, with Sakito asking to meet the person responsible for building the Boonboom Controller. Byundi gets right to the point and says that they are looking for Bundorio Bunderas, with Bun Bun shocked to see Byun Diesel on the monitors. Agent Saibu asks Bun Bun if he knows the alien, to which Bun Bun says Byundi is his greatest rival from his racing days who was always ahead of him.
