Ako Hayasaka (早坂 アコ Hayasaka Ako) is Blue Swallow [Citation needed], or Blueswallow[1][2] (ブルースワロー Burū Suwarō) of the Jetmen.
History[]
Jetman[]
Ako was attending high school when she was given the Jetman powers accidentally. After the Earth Ship was destroyed, the Birdonic Waves escaped and struck Ako while she was out walking, unbeknownst to her, she had gained the powers of the Blue Swallow.
She took advantage of her newfound power to become a top athlete within her school, jumping 2.4 meters without breaking a sweat. When Kaori Rokumeikan and Raita Oishi found her and asked her to join the Jetmen, she only agreed if paid an hourly rate. Kaori promptly gave her a one million Yen check for her cooperation. After her first battle with the team, she returned the check, having realized that fighting the Vyram was a responsibility that she had to take seriously. TV STORY-Ep. 2: The Third Warrior
At some point, she met Mitsuo Tatsuta, who was always anxious to show her his obsession with instant cup noodles. Noodle Dimension took advantage of this and tricked him into creating a harmful type of noodles for humans to eat. Thinking that it was only regular noodles, Tatsuta named the brand "Ako-chan". It quickly gained popularity and had even its own jingle, which annoyed Ako to no end. Confronting Tatsuta, she and him worked together to thwart Noodle Dimension's plans. TV STORY-Ep. 10: Cup Noodles
Ako alternated between being a hero and a student. She was often seen at school when the team called her to battle. She tried hard to keep her Jetman work a secret from her classmates, which made her best friend Kyoko rather sad. When Kyoko's voice was altered by the Voice Dimension, though, she learned Ako's identity as Blue Swallow. She assured Ako that they were still good friends regardless, lifting the burden from the Jetman's shoulders. Kyoko covered for her at school when she was summoned by her team. TV STORY-Ep. 15: High School Student Warrior
Vyram later used her childhood teddy bear—Poohtan—to create Trash Dimension. Since the monster had the heart of the teddy bear, it did not try to hurt people but insisted on helping them. Due to being made literally of trash, however, its stink drove everyone around it away, including Ako. Unable to discourage it from following her, Ako took it to a dump where it could eat garbage for a living. Outside circumstances and Maria's interference caused it to rebel against humans, making it evil and vicious. As it was rampaging, the sight of Ako shielding a little girl reawoke his kind nature. Maria disapproved of this and killed Poohtan for insubordination. An enraged Ako fought and drove her away. She made a grave for Poohtan at the dump where it had once worked, mourning her childhood friend's demise. TV STORY-Ep. 21: Walking Garbage
When the soldiers from the Back Dimension came to aid the Jetmen, Dan tried to flirt with her, but Ako was not interested. She still joined him on his trip to explore the good things Earth had to offer. During this time, she learned more about his homeworld and how it had also fallen victim to Vyram. Ultimately, Dan was killed trying to wrest control of Bird Garuda away from Back Dimensional Count Radiguet. Ako came to his side to comfort him as he drew his last breath. TV STORY-Ep. 24: Launch, Super Robot
In the epilogue set three years after the final battle against Radiguet, Ako had become a singing sensation and she attended Kaori and Ryu's wedding. TV STORY-Final Ep.: Flap Your Wings! Aviators!
Apparently, despite that "Ako-chan" cup noodles was just a scheme by Vyram, the brand somehow managed to stay active well into the time of the Gokaigers. TV STORY-Ep. 28: Wings are Eternal
Imitations[]
A copy of Blue Swallow was created as part of the Shadow Jetman. Light Armadillo created these evil Jetmen from their shadows, as they grew stronger, the real Jetmen grew weaker. Maria created a force-field of light over the city at night to create daylight so the Shadow Jetman could destroy the city. There were only four, as Gai Yuki was not there when the copies were made. Gai shot Maria so the light field went away, the Shadow selves vanished and the Jetman defeated Light Armadillo. TV STORY-Ep. 25: The Laughing Shadow-People

Gokaiger[]
Legend War[]
Years later, Ako fought alongside not only her own team, but every single Sentai Ranger in existence, against the Empire of Zangyack when it attacked the Earth in the Great Legend War. After fighting against hundreds of Gormin and their Sugormin commanders, Akarenger noticed the fleet moving towards them. He gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. Super Hero Taisen[]
Ako, alongside her team, among the majority of the Super Sentai heroes, was caught up in the "Super Hero Taisen" incident which eventually resulted in the Super Sentai teams and Kamen Riders joining forces to defeat both Dai-Zangyack and Dai-Shocker. Ako joined the Super Sentai Strongest Battle as a member of Speed Team, where she partnered with TenmaRanger and fought against TimeGreen and FiveRed of Brain Team in the first round. Ultimately, both her and her teammate lost the match and was eliminated from the competition.
Personality[]
Ako could be rude, cheeky and even a little materialistic, for example asking for a wage if she became a Jetman, calling the Chief a hag and generally being rude to her teachers. She could also be very emotional, for example when the Vyram turned her childhood teddy bear into a monster TV STORY-Ep. 21: Walking Garbage and when her love interest Dan was killed after he risked his life to fight Radiguet inside Jet Garuda in order to save the Jetmen. TV STORY-Ep. 24: Launch, Super Robot She was best friends with her singing partner Kyoko and good friends with her fellow Jetmen especially Kaori and Raita.

The Blue Swallow [Citation needed], or Blueswallow[1][2] Ranger Key (ブルースワローレンジャーキー Burū Suwarō Renjā Kī) is Ako's personal Ranger Key and what became of her powers after she along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.
This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. The Blue Swallow Ranger Key was mainly used by Joe Gibken (Gokai Blue), who used it to fight as Blue Swallow.

- When the Gokaigers became the Jetmen in their fight with the bounty hunter Kiaido. TV STORY-Ep. 28: Wings are Eternal
The Jetman Keys, along with all the Ranger Keys of the first 33 Super Sentai, were briefly taken by the Black Cross King and turned into Ranger puppets that were fought by the Gokaigers and the Goseigers. Using their power of flight to disorient the two Sentai in the initial skirmish, they later split up, with the puppet Blue Swallow being defeated as part of a group of surviving Blue warrior keys by Gokai Blue and Super Gosei Blue. MOVIE STORY-Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle
After Zangyack were finally defeated, the Gokaigers gave the Ranger Keys back to their rightful owners. Ako received her key and became Blue Swallow once more. TV STORY-Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates
Usage[]
The Jetman Avataro Gear allows any of the Core Donbrothers to transform into their respective Jetman counterpart. It can be used by Shinichi Saruhara to transform into Blue Swallow.
Notes[]
- While Ako has the same bird motif and some similar personality traits, she is not the same gender as her Gatchaman counterpart, Jinpei the Swallow.
- While Jinpei had blue colors for his cape and helmet, his costume was predominately yellow and red in terms of color.
- In the Philippine dub of the series, Ako is voiced by Stella Canete.
- In the Philippine dub, her Sentai form as Blue Swallow was renamed as JetBlue while transforming using the Cross Changer
- Ako notably has less episodes centered around her compared to her teammates, making her the least prominent member of the Jetmen. Therefore, despite being part of the main team, she isn't a main character of the series.
- While not the first female Bue Ranger, Blue Swallow is the first female Blue Ranger (and first Blue Ranger overall) to use a shade of sky blue.
