Admiral Janessa is one of the Guardians of Eltar that lives on Earth commanding the Earth Security Taskforce. She is an instructor at Angel Grove University and teaches cadets like Ryan Steele, Valentina and her son Junmor. She is the wife of Commander Volar.

The history of Earth is explained at Angel Grove University when Eltarians came to Earth 70 years ago after Earth was invaded by the Beast Brigade of Gamma VII. The people of Earth never knew Alien contact before and were overwhelmed. Eltar could not stand by as the protectors of the known universe, and Earth was taken under their wing. Humans welcomed them and the Eltarians brought them technology that would have taken them centuries to achieve on their own. Earth then became Eltar's 205th colony.

Fourteen years ago, Volar makes a rare visit to Earth to see his family, Janessa and a young Junmor in Angel Grove. Jun sits with Valentina's mother Maria as Janessa takes him to meet with Volar alone. Volar hands Jun a triangular artifact as a test which immediately activates as he begins screaming.
Thirteen years ago, Maria tells young Valentina and Jun stories about the Power Rangers as Jun tells her he wants to be a Power Ranger one day. Maria tells him he can be whatever he wants to be no matter where he comes from, but Janessa overhears and takes Maria aside. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers Prime #10
Ten years ago, Admiral Janessa returns home to visit Eltar with her son, Jun. They meet up with one of the Guardians, Commander Yorlam to report on the status of the Earth colony. Yorlam criticizes Junmor not shaving his head despite not yet being of age. He warns Janessa not to lose Jun to the Earthlings, but she assures Yorlam that her son knows his allegiance. Four years ago, a quarterly gala check-in is held at the Eltarian Consulate in Angel Grove as Admiral Janessa and Junmor converse with the mayor and Valentina. Markon Zhao and Orion are working as servers but get into a confrontation with one of the guests Korpius over their refugee status. Valentina notices and makes the save to defuse the situation. Admiral Janessa arrives at the Eltarian Youth Corps training grounds in Angel Grove University, scolding her son Jun for being late again as she greets cadets Ryan Steele and Valentina. She warns Jun that his constant tardiness is a reflection on her and to remember where his allegiance really lies. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers Prime #1
Jun and Valentina arrive fashionably late to the gala at the Eltarian Consulate as their parents, Admiral Janessa and the mayor of Angel Grove each give them stern warnings about knowing their place. Ryan finds Valentina and tries to sort things out following their fight at the Angel Grove Natural History Museum. Jun keeps trying to contact the missing Mark which leads Ryan to make an offer to trade the custody of Mark for the Prime Red Ranger. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers Prime #7
After the VR Troopers captured the Prime Red Ranger Lauren, they drove her to a secluded Eltarian base as she revealed her hopes of finding her father and brother who were taken when she was a teenager. Janessa is on a conference call with Eltarian leaders including Commander Yorlam on Eltar as Supreme Guardian Zartus is on Earth with Janessa. After seeing the surge of Morphin Grid energy bleeding off the planet, they realize Rita has created more Rangers. Worried about the space witch and Rangers accessing the Morphin Grid so freely, Zartus calls in Commander Volar to track down and capture the Rangers. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers Prime #9
Jun heads back to his apartment but is ambushed by his father, Volar. After defending his surprise attack, Jun earns rare praise from Volar before his mother Janessa leads Volar's attention back to his mission. Janessa takes Jun aside and tells him she knows he was hiding Lauren. Jun and Janessa are at the Eltarian Base, looking on as Volar interrogates Lauren and forces her to touch the triangular artifact as she screams in pain. Janessa tries to call off Volar but Jun morphs and attacks his parents and tries to free Lauren. Volar attacks Jun and has him in a choke before Janessa uses Volar's hammer to knock him out as Jun removes his helmet confirming his identity to his mother and asks for help. Jun and Valentina arrive at the Abandoned Chamber to meet the other Prime Rangers as Janessa follows behind. Janessa and Rita send the others outside as they have a conversation alone. She asks for Rita's help in sending her husband Volar far away from Earth for Jun's protection, warning her that the Rangers are already in his sights. Commander Volar then arrives at the desert outside of the Abandoned Chamber and challenges Jun, Mark, Valentina, and Orion as they morph and prepare for battle. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers Prime #11
